  1. Piece of advice: don't stress too much about the detail. Lay out policy for data entry and use and talk with the people who will be entering it and get them on board. A lot of things will fall naturally. Ignore the things that are obvious for the moment and concentrate on the data areas that are likely to cause confusion.
  2. BBC News - Harriet Harman condemns paper's 'smear campaign' Question: when does it become ok for them to run with any story they can think up, or put the loosest of links to, but my other pet hate The Sun gets chastised on a virtual daily basis for their made up stories?
  3. I should also say it is messages going out parents cannot see everyone in the group or anything like that!
  4. Yes parents download the app for free then it works like whatsapp essentially. Group messages can be sent out, and if they have the app it is free for the school because it is a wifi style message not a text. I think there is then the option to text of some parents have not got the app. Huge savings to the school.
  5. I think that is the plan to tie their payments system into the application.
  6. Sensible list. Try and have your admins on board as early as possible so your data is useful and supported. Get some good processes in place early on too. Your list mirrors how rollouts were pushed when I worked at an MIS supplier
  7. @PhillipHamlyn can you please describe who you are and what you do a bit please? Your points are really interesting and would be good to know from what perspective you come from with your points.
  8. Always recommend @Schoolcomms simple solution feature rich stable and reliable. Used it from years ago we brilliant then. They have a imessage/whatsapp style Internet messenger portion now called Parent Gateway.
  9. Or a defriend. ..
  10. ... probably with friend requests... We are all doomed BBC News - Zuckerberg: Facebook's mission is to 'connect the world'
  11. Another sad day in the world of acting...
  12. Tomorrow People is utterly shocking. It is that crappy Mutant X combined with Smallville... Both awful!
  13. I loved it too. It was dark. Very dark. I think if it were done it needs the same tone, a game of thrones darkness to it. And yes the liberator in CGI...
  14. Blake's Seven... to be remade... say no more
  15. I think there is talk of this, and with all the stars that are there now...
  16. SGU needs to come back. Yes Firefly too... spot on Tony! Just about everyone ever says that.
  17. It will suck if series 3 and 4 was anything to go by... hope the writers were reborn too

Guarenteed 2 wins with San Marino chance to get the goal difference up... if we don't we are AWFUL! I saw Gibraltar was moved from Spain's group... lol... as much as I agree wuth that and deplore hooliganism, just the headlines alone would have been funny!
  19. Made my 4th loaf last night gets better every time.
  20. Ok I don't usually do this, but this little girl is a friend of my daughter since birth. Grace (the girl) has been through a torrid time medically all her life, but now her parents are trying to raise the money to take her to a specialist in America to help her walk one day. So, if you can help in any way, you can help make a big difference. The site and the group are making headlines in the south and have loads of businesses helping out (I'm quite impressed actually! ) Grace's Goal | For a little miracle. Thanks in advance, I will not make any more pleas on their behalf on here.
  21. A suggestion for you: are you looking to do a specific degree, or is it 'a degree' you want? If the latter consider the Open Degree. It is just as recognised. What it means is you can pick and choose the modules you want to do from ANYTHING (could be Spanish history IT whatever, as long as you have the points). I did this and concentrated on more programming languages than IT stuff if that makes sense. It is a very good option if you are not after a specific qual. In addition, and if you choose the Open Degree it makes this easier, check out what other, usually lower level qualifications you can get with the same points. So for the 300 points of my Open degree I also got a certificate in something and a diploma in something (I can't remember the names!) This was for doing the same work same modules I just claimed them as they were also the requirements for those qualifications. So get the most out of it you can. Don't let that influence what you do but is worth a consideration when choosing, particularly later modules. Hope that makes sense if it doesn't let me know and will describe better.
  22. I approached my first school I with the same idea... dropped like a stone... left a year later. I am always wary of companies paying for big qualifications they tend to want to throw it back at you at any opportunity... but of course depends on the boss and company. OU was better 10 years ago you could get grants and all sorts based on income, as well as each module costing as little as £250... not now! OU is defiantly worth it though.
  23. Where is the option to allow the Yes vote on the Thursday, count Friday, announce Saturday, celebrate (Scottish style!) Sunday, England invades Monday... Job done, Scotland goes back to pre William Wallace times
  24. watched it got bored
  25. Or a 'your messages from the past year in a photo montage'... I don't want to remember most of the drunk crap I send to people and some people I want to forget!
