  1. Hi I have bought a few Pibrellas to use with the school Raspberry Pi modules. On my Pi at home I have successfully used the following commands to get what is necessary to program the Pibrella: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get upgrade Sudo apt-get install python-pip Sudo pip install Pibrella When I try this on my modules in school I can't get the updates with the errors shown on this screen snapshot: Even if I take one of the SD cards home and put it in my own Pi it does the same. I can get to the internet thro' the Pi in school. Any ideas?
  2. I am an IT tech in a junior school and have yet to see any of the new computing curriculum being taught and as far as I am aware no one has planned any yet! There seems to be even less structure than last year. How are other schools getting on with this?
  3. It won't slide as the AP has little round posts that fit into round sleeves on the bracket. Strange.
  4. Does anyone know how to remove a Meru AP322 access point from the wall? It seems to have a bracket which is screwed to the wall and some sort of clip on the AP to release it but I can't get the damn thing off the wall.
  5. Thanks for the clarification.
  6. We have just purchased 20 iPads for teachers to use. Our business manger says we can have one Apple account which all the iPads can use so that if an app is purchased by one person everyone can download it. I am dubious as to whether this is true and don't want to fall foul of licensing laws. Anyone have experience of this?
  7. Thanks guys!
  8. Hi, has anyone got a recommended spec for buying new PCs? We need to be able to run stuff like Kodu and possibly a bit of video/photo editing stuff.
  9. But this is still unclear. A school is not a commercial thing. Also, if you have a paid subscription could it then be used in school?
  10. Many thanks, that will save me a lot of bother.
  11. Hi, not sure which filtering service you use but we use SWGFL. We had the same problem and it turned out to be caused by our 'Allow' rules in the filtering options. I got rid of a lot of these and didn't have any further problems.
  12. I can't find anything in the Spotify ToS that mentions schools?
  13. Ok, I have a spare one from a PC with a motherboard fault, I'll try that.
  14. Yes but there is no one smart enough in the school to do this.
  15. I tried another HDD and it worked ok so it does point to the HDD. I put the HDD into a reader and its empty! It shows 99Mb used but there are no files on it. How does a disk completely erase itself?
  16. Yes but as I said, the BIOS is seeing the HDD.
  17. Hi One of the PCs on our network has the following error when I switched it on this morning: "An operating system wasn't found. try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart." The boot order is: CD/RW drive HDD The BIOS is seeing the HDD. It doesn't matter if I change the HDD to be first it still happens. I'ts not the SATA cable as I have tried changing that. Any other ideas folks?
  18. Thanks, I'll give that a go to.
  19. Its only for staff, but emails no good as it needs to be something that is instant, eg; 'The football tournament's cancelled because of rain'. Staff are only likely to check email first or last thing in the day at best.
  20. Ok thanks I'll give them a try.
  21. Hi all, not sure if this is the right place for this post: Does anyone know of a free program so that people (mainly office staff) can send messages to groups of users or individuals across a domain/network? We have server 2012 and Win 7 enterprise on the PCs.
  22. Hi, we were thinking about using 365 but it seems so fiddly to set up.
  23. Hi, not sure if this is the right area to post but here goes... What email service do people prefer? We use RM Easymail Plus at the moment but its so slow and annoying. We have our own domain so we could easily move it but we need to use web based mail rather than desktop based mail. Any preferences?
  24. many thanks, I'll give it a go.
