LGFL 2.0 Email and Spiceworks Helpdesk
hit replied to fiza's topic in London Grid for Learning (LGfL)
You can change the name in email -> LGfL StaffMail Accounts -> -> manage shared mailboxes -> Pick the mailbox. From there you can change the "SET the Display Name for this shared mailbox to" field. Thats a change of heart, they have always flatly refused my schools! -
It is an interesting model for allocating space, 500Gb for each school, I have one school with 38 staff and 25 students and another with 130 staff and 150 students and a few more in between, it may have been a bit fairer to do it on number of staff x a nominal amount +10% or so to allow for fluctuations seeing as the connection is charged by the number of students (which usually reflects the number of staff).
-
I took a good look at that, then looked again and then had to ask. It appears it's just a document repository. Won't have any integration into office, no app for tablets, etc. you may as well just put files up on your favourite MLE.

From the LGfL technical conference yesterday, Atomwide are in the final phase of setting up and rolling out google apps with USO authentication. It will also use the LGfL email filtering. The only thing was they cant guarantee where data is stored unlike the O365 which is co-located in Ireland and the Netherlands.
-
I went, it started off so promising but then turned into LGfL/Atomwide presenting a load of cloud services that just don't quite join up, followed by a sexist comic/magician who kept making jokes about having to pay his wife's school fees, fancying women in the audience etc. Lunch was OK but the afternoon turned into an Atomwide sales pitch, a very dull presentation of email security and how they will change your password at a drop of a hat, followed by more of the sexist bloke from earlier in the day! What really topped it off for me is that this has to be the first conference I have been to in a long time that didn't have any wifi access, a bit embarrassing really seeing as Virgin Media Business were there in force!

Normally I would have a public_html folder in the students /home// area, then have that as a vhost. Otherwise I have set it up using ispconfig, there is a nice howto here: The Perfect Server - Ubuntu 12.10 (nginx, BIND, Dovecot, ISPConfig 3) | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

Movig to LGFL2 what changes to make in server?
hit replied to lionsl2005's topic in Windows Server 2008
Unfortunately I'm on long to sick so can't look it up for you, but just search the registry for Atomwide and you should find it no problem. -
It was the only way if I remember right, if you copy the page the links always pointed back to the original room. If you expect to copy the content over many times, create a dummy room with just the content you are going to copy, then export that. As I said, I got rid of Fronter last year and my memories of it are becoming hazy (thank goodness).
-
The best way I found of doing it was to export the room and then import it into a new one. I can't check it any more as I got rid of Fronter on our last renewal.

Shouldn't that be telnet mx4.hotmail.com:25

We have been advised to use disposable gloves when handling toner since about 2000 due to its properties (used to contain pyrole or something), but seeing as my printer is current at head height about 2 foot away I guess I'm screwed anyway!

Looks like an anti theft device from a store. The metal switch is glued to the apple device and the rj?? Goes into to tamper system.
-
You don't have to tell the public, you have to tell you employees that you may record them. Oftel - faqs You have to inform them if you intend to pass the recording to a third party unless its in one of the reasons not to, i.e. "to prevent or detect crime to investigate the unauthorised use of a telecom system". If someone is being abusive on the phone then that is a crime and unauthorised use of telecoms.

OMG I'm so tired, my feet are killing me! So much of a better venue, partly because I just jump on the cable car to get there, but it feels a lot less crammed! Thanks for the freebies, I must try to keep this lanyard clean (I have a bad habit of dunking my ID tags into my coffee bucket!).

Download the zip file from Downloads - xbmc-iplayerv2 - XBMC Plugin for IPlayer - Google Project Hosting to a pen drive, plug it into the pi then navigate to settings -> add-ons -> install from zip file. That's all there is to it.
-
I can just use my tv remote, the tv sends the commands to the pi via the hdmi cable. It comes up about pulse eight or something when I boot the pi with xmbc. Have you tried this?
-
I use the same trick and you'll be amazed how many times the bill hasn't appeared, I have ended up walking out of several restaurants without paying whatsoever due to poor service. Funny enough the latest was pizza express in Greenwich which was pretty empty at the time.

Working from home migrating the last of our 2003 servers to 2008R2 on our VMWare cluster. Am starting to run out of RAM at the mo though due to having both 2003 and 2008 versions of the same servers running at the same time while they replicate, am going to have to start shuffling VM's around, might be finished by 3pm!

Have had a similar situation at one of my sites. Forcing logoffs and locking out computers just ended up with more damage to equipment in the rooms. Better to go round and lock the rooms yourself or get a change in policy.

It depends on if you have a TVM (auto-attend and voicemail) unit attached to it.

My 12 year old makes for a very good lackie!
