  1. Hi, Has anyone been able to install Impero on Windows 7 successfully? Many Thanks, Martin
  2. We only have server 2003 at the moment so no ADMX compatibility, I was being an idiot I forgot that unlike windows XP you can add port ranges in Windows 7 so there is no need to use a batch script I can just make it part of our laptop image. Big fan of your blog, I especially like the gerbal incident.
  3. Hi Everyone, We use Impero here as a classroom management tool that needs over 100 port exceptions so in Win XP I've made a script that does this automatically however the same script doesn't work in Windows Vista and above, does anybody have an idea? FOR /L %%I IN (start of port range here,1,end of port range here) DO netsh firewall add portopening TCP %%I "Impero services: port %%I" enable subnet Many Thanks, Martin
  4. We only have the one subnet and I've tried using just the ip address to no avail unfortunatly.
  5. This works for my HTC Desire, the phone is rooted and running a custom ROM called Redux. In order to get it working I turn on the wireless connection, join the school Wi-Fi then I run the Transproxy app and set the proxy. I was hoping to connect to our exchange e-mail server and download e-mails, but there appears to be an issue with SSL certificates (Config option on exchange server). I forgot to mention that this solution allows me to access the schools really speedy internet on my wireless connection, I can also connect to local intranets
  6. Hi Dezt, heres some more info, by the way we are using RM Smartcache as our proxy
  7. I meant to say I'm having two seperate issues, one where I set the proxy setting in spiceworks, but it doesn't seem to like it; and the other where I can't perform a network scan because the next button seems to be greyed out, however the network scan issue is the more pressing of the both. I think I've just resolved the network scan, still having proxy issues.
  8. We use RM CC4 for network management and use RMSmartcache as our proxy for filtering/logs. Cheers, Martin
  9. This is the error I get: I have tried 3 other proxys all with the same result, I 've tried entering user authentication and even the SSL option, although we do use SSL on the same proxy
  10. Settings > Advanced and international options > Proxy settings
  11. I think I've just resolved the network scan, still having proxy issues.
  12. Sorry, I posted a bit too quickly. I meant to say I'm having two seperate issues, one where I set the proxy setting in spiceworks, but it doesn't seem to like it; and the other where I can't perform a network scan because the next button seems to be greyed out, however the network scan issue is the more pressing of the both.
  13. Hello Everyone, Does anybody here use spiceworks? If so have you been able to set your proxy details in the settings section and been able to run a network scan? I'm trying to set the proxy details so that spiceworks can check for updates etc online. When I try to do a network scan I put in an IP address range and the next button remains greyed out, I've tried clicking on the next button and nothing happens. I've tried Firefox and IE both on the spiceworks server and on a client workstation with the same result. Our server has it's Windows Firewall turned off We have Sophos Enterprise Anti-Virus installed and running, not sure if thats causing the issue or maybe a switch? Many Thanks, Martin
  14. Does it cope with alternative DNS though, for example if your on a work wireless network can you specify the DNS.
  15. I have used the RM Blueprint with unfortunatley no luck - the package installs but keeps reinstalling iself.
  16. Has the MP3 been posted yet I would be interested in hearing it
  17. Ah brilliant! Last time I checked there was no blueprint for 3.3.0 thanks for letting me know. I'll have another go. Cheers, Martin
  18. Hi Everyone, I'm trying to create a package for OpenOffice, from what I've heard I think we need it so students can open ODT word documents. I know there are compatibility packs, and they would be a good alternative, but I think the students will still need the software anyway so teachers can show an alternative to MS. We have an RM CC4 network and I have tried the following things with no luck. I tried to create a package on the build PC but that just created a package that kept reinstalling itself. I then tried using the RM blueprint for version 3.2.1, as part of the proccess it asked for an extracted MSI, which it didn't like, enough though it was the same version. Has anybody been able to get a OpenOffice package working on a CC4 network? If so, where legally possible could someone send me a copy of their working MSI and/or blueprint. Many Thanks, Martin
  19. It turns out a builtin account used by CC4 was deleted it looked rather dubious as we had recently had a wave of the conflicter virus. We ended up spending hours with RM who eventually remoted in and recreated the account.
  20. Hi Everyone, I have an android based phone and from some research I have found that Android doesn't support proxy, has anyone been able to get proxy support? I specifically thinking proxy settings for Wi-Fi and no proxy for modem settings or maybe a button to switch the proxy settings on and off.
  21. Hi, We an RM CC4 network. In the past we have been able to deploy and configure Firefox on our network (set proxy etc). A member of staff has requested Safari, Opera and Google Chrome to be deployed. I was wondering if anyone has managed to package any of these browsers into MSI's and configure proxy settings? Many Thanks, Martin
  22. Hi, We have a call logged with RM at the moment and thy've also suggested as you have unfortunatly we get an error message: Something relating to the service host, i'll put the actual error message up soon but I think the server is undergoing maintenance at the moment to resolve this issue so I can't bring it up straight away. Thanks for the response. Martin
  23. Thanks for your help, have you checked your own search results? I don't see a port number in those results.
  24. Hi Everyone, We are having trouble starting the RM Service host service from our server. We have tried a number of RM steps to no avail. I was wondering if anybody knew which port the RM service uses and what other services it relies on to function correctly.
  25. I've never really had a problem with English but my maths is very very bad.
