  1. Ah so that explains it. I had exactly that issue, had a to and fro with the Securly engineer, but didn't get to the bottom of it, then suddenly it started working. No idea why he didn't say this is currently a global Securly issue!
  2. Does anyone know if this is definitely coming to Apple School Manager? Have confirmed that someone else can see if it in their company Apple Business Manager, but I can't see any changes in our school ASM.
  3. At the moment, I'm looking at keeping our existing print setup as the back end enables a lot of functionality for us, that we need. So ideally, I'm looking to understand how non-hybrid accounts and devices might be able to map those printer queues. If that's not an option then things like PaperCut, PrintIX needs to be looked at. Thanks
  4. Hi, we're trying to remove our last few dependencies on hybrid accounts i.e. accounts sourced in Active Directory and synced to Entre ID. We still have domain joined print servers with print queues to service users, so if we moved to Entra ID only users how would we map those domain print queues? Note that I've looked at Universal Print and that doesn't have some of the extended features we require for our print capability. I've not looked at other third party options just as Paper it or PrintIX. Ideally I want to just mapt them. I've seen a few articles around putting in Cloud Kerberos Trust? Any ideas or advice please. Thanks
  5. Yes it's point 1 that is especially concerning that it allows access to all files that the user has access to. I've been emailing their support team and as you say, it's their integrations that need it. But the permissions suggest any file that th user has access to in OneDrive, SharePoint etc in the tenant is also open to them.
  6. Hi, After some advice. We've got a couple of teachers who require access to mosaic application from a company called Penrose Education: https://mosaic.penrose.education/. However, it requires admin consent to be able to use our M365 credentials. All well and good, and they have sent me the link to doing that (it's not available publicly in the Azure Poratal (Enterprise Apps). When I do this, it presents the following permissions needed: The first of which seems to overly permissive, so I'm not particularly keen on allowing it (have also been discussing it with the IT/Cyber Govs, who are similarly concerned. Does anyone else use this app? Thoughts? Thanks
  7. Eid Mubarak @Zoom7000 and to everyone else celebrating!
  8. Thanks, I have checked and these machines dont have any reliance on any specific MS Office need - I've built the whole school IT system from scratch, so have a good understanding of the end to end system. Anyway, I think I've found the registry setting now and it's reflected in the file in the user's profile called registrymodifications.xcu. Thanks for comments everyone!
  9. Thanks for all the replies, all with pretty valid points. But ... I want to try this out. Together with Office on Web, it might be worth a try. Wont take much time to roll forward and back. Context - it's a pretty small Primary School, and I don't think they will be using Office products in a non-standard way. I'm not proposing changing the whole school over like Teachers, SLT, Admin, Finance PCs etc, just a few as a test. Let's see what happens. I did do a bit of searching on edugeek, and there's enough people moving away from MS Office products with Google options etc. I also saw a thread in which someone (mavhc) said they had done this. So back to my question, if anyone has done this, what settings have they applied - specifically looking for the option via GPO/GPP to set the default save to docx, xlsx, pptx, etc. Thanks
  10. Hi, Is anyone using LibreOffice in school. I'm toying with the idea of deploying it to lesser used PCs in the school, as a bit of a test Has anyone configured it with certain settings that they might be willing to share? I've got the ADMX files from here: https://github.com/CollaboraOnline/ADMX but I wanted it to default to saving in Microsoft format e.g. docx, xlsx, pptx etc and it doesnt seem to be an option in the ADMX files? So does anyone know the registry keys to set, maybe using GPP? Thanks
  11. Hi, Has anyone looked at or are using Compass MIS? They're an Australian company that seem to have now expanded our to the UK and Ireland. Anyone have any reviews that they can share please. Many thanks

    CCTV software

Hi, We've got a non-branded CCTV H.264 DVR system in place and the software seems to be playing up as it crashes when the search option is selected (think it might be the last set of patches). Any recommendations for alternative software to use please. Thanks
  14. Thanks everyone, looks like Airserver is the way to go
  15. Hi, Any suggestions on how to mirror an iPad to a PC The teacher PCs are connected to a projector so the teachers want to show the iPad on the projector. So am thinking, if I can get the iPad to mirror to the PC it should show on the projector. I've had a quick look and found some apps: LetsView APowerMirror LonelyScreen (although some reports that it's a dodgy bit of software). Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas please? Thanks
  16. We've had something similar, and Microsoft have suggested the September CU is to blame. Lots out there on the internet about similar issues. Have a read of this: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-emergency-update-resolves-kb5005565-app-freezes-crashes/ We've disabled EAF for the time being.
  17. Have sent you a message, thanks
  18. Thanks, Been doing a bit of research and seen this thread: https://neverware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115005683807-May-I-Use-CloudReady-Home-Edition-in-an-Organization- Which suggests: You're welcome to use the Home Edition in your school or business. Please keep in mind that managing the devices will not be possible on this version, removing your ability to restrict who can log in, distribute printer access to the devices, or control the update process on them. Neverware will also be unable to support the use of the Home Edition in any capacity. With that, said, there is no restriction against using it, though you may not resell The Home Edition for any amount.
  19. Just looking at doing something very similar for some old laptops we have. Is there any licencing issue with running the 'home' version of Cloudready Neverware on these devices for a school? Is that ok to do? Thanks.
  20. Hi, Has anyone heard of i3 technologies? One of the SLT has asked for a Demo of their interactive screens: i3 Touch EX i3 Touch ES They look like they are Android devices that allow screen casting from the teacher PC and some whiteboarding capability. I've mentioned to look at a number of other options and look to do a down select: Prowise Clevertouch CT Ilyama BenQ Promethean Smart boards Vestel But he's gone ahead and asked for an on site demo anyway. So wondered if anyone has used them or heard of them. Thanks
  21. Hi, After a bit of a debacle with someone buying Amazon Fire tablets for the school (very small school), it looks like they will be buying some Android ones, probably about 16 or so. I've been testing esper.io (MDM) and it does look it does a pretty decent basic job e.g. provisioning, compliance policies, app management etc. Just wondered if anyone else is using it and how they've found it to be. And if they've managed to deploy CA certs to them - if so how? Thanks

  22. Hi, Looking to purchase some Dell Desktops but Dell seem to be a bit slow in getting back to us. Does anyone have a decent education sales contact at Dell please. Thanks
  23. Hi, for those of you who have used the MSI machine installer, how are you updating it. I've just realised it doesn't auto-update! I've read about having to uninstall the deployed version and then redeploy the latest MSI machine installer? Is that the best way? Really don't want to be doing that each time. And if I did, do I need to clear up Teams in the user profiles for all the users too? Thanks
  24. Odd this, as I was looking to do the same (Windows Update for Business), even started setting up the policies and groups this afternoon. Just haven't applied them yet. With regards to reporting, you can use Update Compliance in Azure. It's free, but you will need a subscription and therefore have to enter credit card details. But there is no charge for compliance data. You also need to set up some policies for your clients (or run some Microsoft scripts) so that they report into it. There's some details here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/update-compliance-using I'm also looking at peer to peer caching type thing called Delivery Optimization for devices on site.
  25. One other question, the users that we don't sync i.e. that don't have on-prem accounts, they'll still be able to change their M365 passwords in the cloud still?
