If the staff choose to store their biometric data on the iPad (and the school doesn't make it compulsory), then surely that is that. The school doesn't use the biometric data for anything systematic, it is stored in an encrypted form purely on the device if the staff choose to do so. I doubt the ICO would have any issue with such a system.

Separate VLAN for guest WiFi, so no issue with unmanaged devices. For visitors logging on to school PCs we have a visitor AD account as above - no network drive access, machine and Internet access only.

They do in our school, but then they're used for announcements and calling for assistance (SEN school). In a mainstream school I'd still put one in classrooms if possible. Agreed that paying per extension is a bad idea however.

I think it makes sense - he's the kind of person who wants to see the best in things (see the very first episode - arguing the essential goodness of humanity to the Q), to do what he feels is right regardless of the consequences. He also felt that the Federation tried to do the same thing, to live up to the same ideals he had (and mostly - from what we saw - it did). Once it abandoned him (as he sees it) he felt alone in the world - particularly having lost Data as well. I loved the bit where he said something to the effect of "I've not been asking anything of myself, I've just been sitting here waiting to die" before getting up and on with solving the mystery.

Firstly, I enjoyed that episode more than I think any other 13th Doctor one so far. Secondly, great big spoiler warning with flashing lights ... ... ... ... ... Somewhat annoyingly, I think "Ruth" had more of the "Doctor" vibe we know and love than JW did. She owned the situation from the word go once she was restored - can we have #13 doing more of that please?!

Yeah, they've definitely cut back - as you say if you're willing to ask then you can still get some decent-ish stuff.

Long-range wireless charging is unfortunately incredibly inefficient (inverse-square law!) using standard inductor coils. It's got less to do with "oh god we'll all die from RF!" (we won't) and more "oh god it'll cost £20 to charge a phone!".

I'm not so sure - they use USB-C "family" ports elsewhere (e.g. Thunderbolt 3), and they would still need a port for diagnostics even if they did rely on wireless charging. Perhaps they'll bundle a lightning->USB-C adapter and say "functionally equivalent".
