  1. Hi Fiza, Did you get a workaround or answer for this? We too block YouTube but would like to use the video share in Google Classroom. Thanks, Tom
  2. Hi Stuajnht, I'm looking into LTSP and I would appreciate a few pointers. I'm not hugely savvy when it comes to crossing over between the two OS. I found LTSP and thought "bingo". Am I right in thinking that: 1. Any PC with PXE will boot the image without touching the windows C:\ 2. Users get their credentials for the LTSP server from AD on the windows domain 3. Files are all kept separate, windows on windows - linux on linux. This could be a great way to give our students a linux lab but at no extra hardware cost. Thanks, Tom
  3. Thanks Stuajnht, that would all be really helpful but we have gone a different direction now. We have built a solution that similarly exports from SIMS but uses a js search feature which we target against 2 XMLs (staff and students) to allow anyone to lookup anybody's timetable. We have also added functions, one to email all of a students teaching staff (to cut down on all staff emails) and another to print an individual timetable. We are now in the process of documenting how it works and commenting up all the code. Then we will package it up and put it on edugeek. It doesn't rely on HAP so any school could use it on an internal or external web server. We have built it into HAP for tidiness and security (AD login). Here's a screen shot: Thanks again for your reply, Tom

  5. Hi Nick, We are retiring our current timetable program and I have turned to HAP to replace it after it has proved so much excellence with remote files and even remote access. I have installed the booking system and timetable add ons and I feel I am close. I had an issue where moment.min.js was missing from the scripts folder, easily resolved. I now have an issue that the sims timetable export.xml is showing varying day names. For example some are: 1Mon:1, 2Tue:2 etc. but others are Day1:1, Day2:2 etc. The results displayed in a timetable are then confusing: Example student week 2: Which is this users Timetables.XML set: < You can see in the code "2Mon:5" works but "2Mon:6" hasn't worked. Where do I need to look to sort this? I am best going back to the pre-converted Timetableexport.xml and making amends there? Other questions: Can I limit the timetable to only show school hours (08:45 - 15:35) rather than the full day(00:00-00:00)? Is there a reason the week number identifier only cover Monday - Thursday? (see images below) Why does the terms show currently as term 1, 2, 3 & 4? (see my termdates.xml below) In the record, what is "year" used for? Some seem to be populated with unrecognisable figures like "3" whereas others are blank. 6. It currently shows a title bar only at logon and logoff which is ok. Totally invisible would be better but this is fine. Thanks, Tom
  7. Hi Nick, That was me you posted it too and thats the version I have rolled out. It works to use the logoff script as Fairm suggested, so I just don't use the silent switch at logoff. So it is silent at logon, which minimizes the box to the bottom left and pops up in the case of multiple logon accounts. Then at logoff it runs without the silent switch, which still minimizes it in the bottom left. Is this the expected behaviour? Thanks, Tom
  8. Hi Nick (and co) I have tried on and off to get the logon tracker working. In testing it is excellent I am forced to use the logon and logoff scripts. This is my current logoff.cmd code: start /min "Logon Tracker" "c:\windows\syswow64\hap logon tracker.exe" https://server/hap/ , /silent exit If I run the cmd manually the logoff is marked in the tracker no problem. If it is run during the logoff scripts process it is like windows closes the exe before it has finished its work. To remedy this I have tried installing the exe as a service which runs even if windows it shutting down, however similarly to running the exe it doesnt always have the desired effect at logoff. This seems like a silly problem, something easily remedied, but I am starting to think it might have me beat. Is there something i'm missing or possibly a way i can run what the exe does via a script as opposed to using the exe? In testing it is such a good piece of software and I really would like to make use of it. Limiting the logons will be handy and being able to find out who logged in when will rule out some of the petty vandalism issues and such like. Thanks, Tom
  9. Thanks Nick, With the new version of the file i got the silent command working like so: "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\HAP Logon Tracker.exe" Logon https://etc/HAP/ , /silent It pops up with the window title but no information. Hopefully I can roll this out to an ICT room now and see how it goes. Thank you again, Tom
  10. Sorry Nick, no joy. These all come up with a URI error: HAP Logon Tracker.exe /logon /silent https://etc/ HAP Logon Tracker.exe /logon /silent, https://etc/ HAP Logon Tracker.exe /silent /logon https://etc/ HAP Logon Tracker.exe /silent, /logon https://etc/ And with /silent on the end it continues to pop up with the logon tracker icon with "Registering..." I have also noticed that each logon leaves an instance of hap logon tracker notifier.exe running. Thanks for your support. Tom
  11. Morning Folks, I'm loving HAP+ and the tracker however, I would like to make the logon and logoff tracker run silently. I have tried adding "-silent" to the end of the parameters but the window still pops up. The way this thread starts "If the -silent switch is NOT used for group policy.." would imply that there is a silent switch. If so, could I get a copy of the parameters so I know I'm typing it correct. If there isn't currently a silent switch is there another way I can make it silent or window-less? Thanks, Tom
  12. Hi JonZaman, Im having trouble getting setup too with the same error. "There is something wrong connecting to your AD infrastructure..." I have tried to enter all variety of LDAP, with FQDN, different domain admin users etc. Security is correct on app_data. What else do I need to be looking for? Thanks for any assistance, Tom
  13. Has anyone got their youtube education filter working with Council based netsweeper? Thanks. Tom
  14. Hello. Has there been any joy on this thread? Tom.
  15. Hi Pubgrub, Firstly thank you for the zip. I haven't got it spot on yet because we have a 2 week rotation system in place and I would like to be able to do both in one go. Do you have the report or annotated workbook yet? Thanks, Tom.
  16. Re-reading that it could be confusing, so to clarify: No, KB2823324 was not installed because WSUS Denied it before it was sent out. Thanks for the suggestion. Tom.
  17. No KB2823324 installed. WSUS Denied it before it was sent out but thanks for the suggestion.
  18. Recently our RM ONE Eco machines running Windows 7 x64 have began to blue screen. There is no discovered pattern as to what is making them BS, although our suspicion is a windows update. The first one to go was approximately 2 weeks ago and they have been dropping off in that time. To press around 8 have crashed. The BS Error is BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO, code 74 error, and shows while this windows 7 logo screen is floating about during boot up. We have found that by opening Safe Mode and ticking "OS Boot Information" in MSCONFIG the computer doesn't crash. This has led us to further investigate graphics or RAM issues, but theoretically I didn't believe OS Boot Info changed anything other than showing the Drivers load up and show the OS build version instead of showing the logo? We have the computer working in this manner, which is always good, but it would be nice to have a more water tight solution. Has anyone else had this issue with the Eco's? Thanks, TC.
  19. On the installations disc, D:\Cubase LE AI Elements 6 for Windows\Additional Content\VST Sound\*****.vstsound You will note that I have Elements 6 and i have no idea if its moved for 7 or 6 Full edition. Tom.
  20. QuOtUm - I had the left work from the off out of the box. See Screenshot attached. Didnt FB say that this was build by the ADSchema.vbs? Something like it sets permissions in the AD and should be run as administrator as a one off. Run as administrator. Newby - I am totally lost in your post. Sorry. Too many crossed wires for me. Skeep is pretty instant, try this. 1. Run the Logon script on your pc 2. open skeep and see the information is correct for your pc If yes - run the logoff script on your pc and see if it shows grey (after refreshing skeep) If no - run the alternative logon script and see if that works (after refreshing skeep) If that worked try run the logoff script on your pc and see if it shows grey (after refreshing skeep) Then you know what scripts work, dont work and which to put out via GP. You also know that you are getting the right information etc. Sounds like you are on the right track. Dont confuse the RDP connections to the Servers in the bottom left with the VNC connections to the client PC's in the top left. Tom
  21. I can see I'm way late replying here but i have the following setup: 1 user account "Cubase" and I have setup all the audio VST etc (they all run on the same type PC's) Then I took a copy of the Local App Data\ Steinberg files into netlogon and used GPP and Item level targeting to produce the files onto the computer they login to. No reason this couldn't be applied to multiple users that login to any given machine, would just need to strip out the user credential parts. Not sure if there could be some steinberg bits in the AppData Roaming folder too but no reason that couldnt be deployed in the same way. Something else I had an issue with was VSTI's. To make these statuary I dumped the .vstsound files into C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\VSTSound\ on all of the PC's with Steinberg installed. (a lot of space required for this on each local C: ) There is sometimes the odd glitch where it doesnt use the correct driver but have 1 or 2 in a class of 30 with an issue is a whole lot better than getting 30 students to setup these bits. Hope this helps you Steve, Tom.
  22. There is indeed a computer policy that will do this. Follow so: Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Windows Firewall with Advanced Security > Inbound Rules. Add the service here. Being a computer policy, remember you need to do some computer restarting to apply it. A way of getting more consistent results is to use the GPUPDATE /Force command on the client PC after applying the GPO. Then Restart it. As for your login script issue, it may be showing you online because you ran the script manually. Try having someone else run the script manually. You might need to try the script I shared earlier in this thread. Tom.
  23. FB has set you off with the Group Policy. It is a simple User Configuration Logon script and a Logoff Script. (not computer configuration) FB has set you on the right path. So lets start with the main function of the program first. You want to be able to VNC (remotely control) the computers. Firsts things first, Setup the VNC Deployment Settings (UVNC_Settings.exe / Ultravnc.ini) 1. Open Skeep 2. Tools > Settings Now you are in the settings area were you can setup how you want the VNC Service (which you deploy to all the clients) to work. 3. Security Tab 4. Enter a VNC Password (I only use this password so leave "Required MS Logon" unticked, maybe something you can put some time into after the fundamentals, keep it fairly complex you are stabbing a hole into the whole pc dont forget) 5. Password required, Allow shutdown ultravnc and allow edit clients want to be ticked. 6. Encryption can be used if you want. Again, fundamentally not required. 7. Screen Capture You mentioned you wanted to control the user seemlessly. To do so you are going to need to set a few things here: Tick these: Poll Full Screen Poll Foreground window Low Accuracy Use System HookDLL Use Mirror Driver Show Primary display. All the rest should be unicked. I found this is the fastest config without disturbing the user. 8. Deploy VNC to a client, preferably a test machine that you can get to easily (IE turning your head left or right 60 degrees). Phew, that is the first bit sorted. Now you need to allow the port on the client machine through the firewall, otherwise you wont get in. 5900 is the default port. Allow all access to the 5900 port to the winVNC.exe application that "Deploy" will install on the remote machine. Now you should be able to at least VNC onto that machine. Have a good play around if it doesnt work. You can always reinstall skeep or uninstall the service if needed. I have a decent CMD script which uninstalls all VNC programs which I will share if its needed. You have plenty to chew on for now. Best of luck. Tom.
