ICMP Internet Traffic Help

Unplug everything from your ISP's equipment, and just connect one PC. Run a continuous ping: ping -t google.com and wait. If it still drops out and the ping packets stop coming back for a time, this is a reasonable indicator that your line is screwed. -
At the moment we estimate that a little under 900 people hold the title Developer, following the great MIA purges of recent years; a further 100 people have upload rights on restricted packages through the Maintainers programme; then further countless people work on translations, documentation, package manicuring, and so on. It's impossible to get a reliable number on them since our barrier to entry or exit is low (you're not required to register in any way before contributing, you just send in your work and hope it's accepted by a Developer). Ack (though maybe I have more sensible friends, or I'm more exclusive about them, because only a handful have bitten this time).

No, they don't, but that's not the point. You asserted that you couldn't turn a search into a feed; I don't see why. Anyway, feature requests have historically fallen on total silence, so feeds of normal searches or "what's new" probably won't ever happen.
-
Intel firmware has historically been just as disastrous. Intel's SSD firmware brings speed boost, mass death (again) (although, such an article isn't law: the trim command is part of the IDE and SATA protocols, it's nothing to do with Windows 7).

Citation?

It gets that much?!

Why? It runs a search and spits out the result. The format of that result is moot.

I have users who think that too. They rarely take up my offer of a swop day - I used to offer a week, but all but the first day were a waste.

Leave him in sweet bliss. He might change his mind on his own before it's too late.

Mmm, it was a red herring then - you really need someone to take a proper look, you can play this game all day...
-
Reboot and stop cron, to rule that out: sudo invoke-rc.d cron stop and do the same to see if it still stops responding - if so, it was a red herring. carvjo: Calling init scripts directly is deprecated, this is the way to do them safely.
-
Run this after startup and watch what happens when it stops responding: sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog Hit Ctrl-C to exit it.

I used to run nagios and a home-brewed SMS script via ClickSMS for, like, 5p a text. If you're grouching over that much (how much stuff are you expecting to spontaneously combust?) you have bigger problems...

This indicates that the server thinks it's Summer time. -
Well, yes, because changing the name on the certificate would invalidate the authority's signature across it. You must remove the certificate and the generate a totally new signing request for submission to the CA of your choice. edit: oh, or generate the certificate request by another means and do a 'replace' when you get it signed.

PHP injection is actually a bit more subtle than that; the default driver doesn't allow you to run two statements in the same call for exactly that reason.
