  1. Ahhh we have a lot of experience with this !!! The problem is toner not getting through to the dev unit. You get either the code 7403 or faint prints or one colour not printing. Kyocera have a mod kit available to dealers but it takes hours to fit so no one can be bothered ( us included ) and all it does is improve the opening of the cartridge door. This is not 100% of the cure The compat toner is less fluid ( tech term ) and simply is clogging up . ( taking the printer for a bumpy ride in a trolley does work ) But the toner powder will pack down again , usually over the school hols !! We are trying some new chemical toner .... that should be a low cost solution
  2. . I wouldnt say its too good to be true. All toner yield claims need to be treated with cynicism even the OEM,s . As a general rule averaged out over the whole school our education users get iro 65% of the claimed yields. ( good equation to work off ) With a compatible toner yields are less accurate as for starters you can never be certain of toner fill ,quality i.e. more waste toner produced and chip programming. See if you can get them to offer a free use of printer fully inclusive of toners ( regardless of coverage ) Parts and servicing on a metered monthly pence per click. Then it doesnt matter about the yields + no up front costs We do it at 1.5p as a guide on price
  3. Think before you jump into managed print solutions ! A few factors to think about ...... 1. Its a combination of lease and service contract so expensive to get out of if things go wrong . 2. Check out what annual increases are in the small print 10% per annum compounding soon mounts up. 3. You are not just buying X no. of prints per month you are leasing equipment will it last 5 years ? ( We reckon 3 years max ) 4. What happens when some of the equipment becomes worn out before the agreement ends ?? ( Messy expensive problem ) 5. Who knows where budgets will be in 3 - 5 years time , there is no going back on these agreements. On the plus side the idea of no more print problems for years sounds great but "Managed Print" is not the only way.
  4. Unlucky man !! Its rare but sometimes the chip fails on the tk580 toners telling the machine the cartridge is empty and stops it printing. The printer still works ok without it but wont work if it thinks its empty ( you lose the toner level gauge thats all ) Its hidden under the yellow sticker on the base of the cartridge , just pull it off it may be the fix.
  5. Truth is some refills work others don't ! Unlike other printers the Kyocera can actually operate without a chip at all .( you just lose the toner level gauge ) The print quality issues are solely down to toner quality. We run these colour printers reliably and very cheaply !! ps we have the service manuals if you need any help with service codes !!! [email protected]
  6. Hi, We do a lot of these Kyocera printers . Its a simple toner feed problem .... check the gear on the cartridge ( its a triangle thing) is in the correct position to engage in the printer. ..... at the other end of the cartridge check the door opens on the toner exit. if this doesnt work its time to get the screwdriver out ! we can talk you through it 01228 561669 Steve
  7. Hi Ian, Good product ,we supply printers into schools in the uk ( fixed cost per print - free equipment ) and recommend your product as it works well together giving accurate costs and controlled printing. Usually tell customers to find free trial by google have you got a direct link we could post up for them please ? Steve
  8. Bit suspicious over these TVRP deals as they often have a lease hidden in there somewhere, annual increases, over estimated minimum monthly billing and a 5yr tie in ! Or have i become cynical
  9. Sounds very cheap printing ..... what is the minimum billing per month ?
  10. What sort of print volume do you estimate per month ? Buying a cheap machine usually means high running costs.
  11. Here is a quirky one. The default position on Kyoceras is RAM off in the machine settings. Type the IP into the internet browser. This opens the command centre Log in using ADMIN00 ( they are zeros not o,s ) And turn on the RAM. We also have a good trick to reduce toner costs dramatically for these
  12. Its a bit of a secret really . We import the toner in bulk from Japan and replace the chips. This works really well on the Kyocera as they have 200k drums + fusers so the only running costs are toner ! As a business we put the machines in for free and charge just for the prints made each month 7p colour 1.5p mono. ( regardless of coverage ) Inc all service repairs no lease involved. Printers send a monthly meter reading and ask for toner when needed !
  13. Good answer , we think the kyocera is good value . In fact we have reduced the running costs by at least 50% with a nifty trick !
  14. Well done ! That is cheap printing . Not sure if everyone could live with the unreliability of ebay machines , costly time wise to keep fixing. But hats off to you i think you are the winner !
  15. We reckon the Kyocera is the cheapest overall to buy / run . Anyone with better idea ?
  16. Wow , who is running HP2600,s .......money to burn We are running Kyocera colours at half the price.
  17. Thanks ,that seems to have fixed it . Not a problem we have come across before as they usually do that on setup . Put out quite a few of these ,good printers Kyocera
  18. Hi all ! New to the forum ( first one i have ever joined ! ) I am the MD of a Printer supplier to schools etc . ( 20 + years ) Probably most help in matters relating to contracts ,leases etc Bit of a minefield out there.
  19. Am i missing something simple here .....how do you alter the internal clock in the printer ?
  20. Hi, Very difficult to calculate real colour print costs ! Its ok on copiers as most suppliers give a fixed cost per print but printers have many hidden costs . We run the Kyocera colour machines because the drums + fusers last the life of the machine. Just replaced Epsoms running at 30p per colour print in a school with kyoceras at 7p per print any coverage ,free machines no minimum term or minimum billing contract. Big savings if you get your printers right
  21. Watch out for managed print solutions ! Many are little more than the old style copier " copy plans " of the 90,s with a combination of lease and service that will leave you with obsolete equipment and a huge settlement bill.
