This has only just started happening in our school, and its not all users and not all Class Notebooks, it seems random. What Happens? Students try to open a Class Notebook , one note online opens and all you get is a blank page with a spinning blue circle in the top left hand corner. It does not matter how long you wait it just sits there spinning. Tried refreshing the page and it still does the same. We have had this problem in IE, InPrivate browsing on IE, Chrome & Chrome incognito. We have found that if the student closes that page and goes directly to OneNote online, then opens my notebooks, and selects @school note book, waits for this to load then clicks the left arrow on the top left to select notebooks, then selects the affected class notebook it opens fine. I cant see any reason why this is happening.....has anyone got any suggestions. As I said its not all class notebooks, and its not all users and its not always the same users with the same notebooks. The only thing that has changes is we migrated to Windows 10 over the summer. All machines had new clean images applied

I was wondering if anyone else had seen the issue and possibly found a solution to it. I wasn't sure if it was a JAVA issue or a PCE issue.

We have disabled the fast user switching which does stop the problem. Unfortunately we really need this option on. Teachers have their own class rooms and will log on, when they leave the room they will lock the machine. If another teacher is in there next they have to physically power off the machine to be able to log on. OK tell them not to lock the machines, we have done that, but they then moan at the time wasted logging on to the system, getting register ready, this wastes teaching time etc. So they lock it anyway...... Catch 22 situation.

Has any one else come across this problem. We use PCE in school for monitoring purposes. When a user selects switch user on windows PCE stops capturing for the new user. I haven't had a definite answer on how or if this will be fixed. Has any one got any ideas please.

When I click on the Icon for either Me or Password the box by the user name drops down and retracts and a yellow message appears saying checking for updates but nothing else happens just stays on the home screen. Hi, I am finally getting somewhere now with HAP and starting to enjoy the setup process. Unfortunately I have a problem, the 'Me' option where you can change your password has stopped working. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong. When you click on the Me logo or go to your name in top corner and select about, nothing happens. No error just nothing. Very frustrating. Thanks

UPDATE:- Got this working now and working through some other issues. Can anyone tell me why when I go to the MyFiles section of the config and put in %homeshare% in the UNC field I don't get any drives showing up. Our users home drives are spread across different servers and we use this variable to identify their home share. Thanks Phil

I see from your post that you are in a school. We have a very similar issue when using the readers with SoftLinks Oliver Library system. We use a monitoring software PCE and we found that if the reader software was initialised before the PCE AUP screen came up it would fail. In the end I had to set the reader drivers to load when oliver was launched, which would be after the PCE AUP came up. Neither Softlink or BioStore could work out why this was happening and said the issue lay with PCE.

You cant go wrong with HP, look at the HP 4000 range of mono printers. Inexpensive and cheap to run. They come with all the features, networking (wired and wireless) and duplex if required. I have always used HP and have had very little problems. Got some printers that are over 10 years old and still going strong.

Have you sorted this problem yet? We have has the same issue but using HDMI to the boards. By dropping the resolution to 1360x768 cured the issues.

I have already tried creating a new OU in the root and moving the machine to it then linking to it. This didn't work. I have removed (deleted) the GPO and re-created it thinking corruption, still nothing. Because I was only doing IE changes tried applying it to the default domain policy, which worked. I removed the changes from that and tried creating a new GPO at root level and that applied. So you would think that inheritance was blocked, but it isn't. Conflict of policy???? Because it s IE 11 it is the only place we have used the setting. But what is strange it does not show any GPO's applying after root level, whether they are win 7 or win 8 only changes.

Hi, we have just started to look at using Windows 8.1. I got my first tablet the other day and setup a PC with Win 8.1 Both machines joined the domain with out a problem and pull down the policies set out in the default domain policy. I moved the two machines to a sub OU and thought I would apply some IE Policies just for those machines. We have a 2012R2 DC so I set about setting up the gpp for IE 11, proxy and home page. Went through the process, remembering to press f6 to highlight the appropriate areas required. Restarted the machines and nothing, the policy didn't apply. In fact when I did a gpresult it didn't even show the policy existed. After lots of head scratching and trips to Google, I did the same settings in the default domain policy. This time they worked!!!! Strange. So I tried some different setting in the sub gpo, again these did not apply, but yet they would apply if they were in the default domain policy. Both machines are running win 8.1, one is wireless the other cabled - so I can rule out slowness in login. Both machines have been moved to the OU where the policy is linked and enforced - so I can rule out stupidity. Both machines are up to date with their updates - so I can rule out 'out of date' software. Both machines have their firewalls turned off - so I can rule out connection issues. To summarise.... If the setting is in the default domain policy it works, if it is further down the tree it wont. Has anyone any ideas please, before I loose any more of my hair. Didn't have much to start with.....

Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh is the normal sound when YouTubeis mention at our school..... We are having real problems at the moment in respect of YouTube. We used toblock it for students via Policy Central and give full access to staff. Then wewent through the painful but beneficial process of setting up YouTube forschools. This worked well for some time. We had students using the filtered YouTube,Staff had a login to override it and we had the master login where we could addand white list videos. So, as max usedto say, I want to tell you a story...... One day Google decided something was not just right in the world and we werehaving life to easy, so they thought it would be nice if our teacher’s logins didn’twork anymore. So they went forwarded and said this is our gift to you and madeit so. We had been blessed by the mighty Google. What could we do now; we had to startusing the master login for staff so they could reap the benefits of the bountiful YouTube. This brought joy back to the humble teaching staff and Google was once again respected. Students we still fine with the filtered YouTube and knew nothing of the blessing that Google had bestowed on the school. Once again Google looked down on the school and saw what it had done and how its offerings had been accepted. This seemed to displease the mighty Google that the school had abused its restrictions and still ate from the tree of knowledge. So once more it made known from that day forward the school would be blighted with errors while playing its videos like a plague on the school and the school would feel the wrath of the mighty Google once more. So now the humble school looked forward for help from the almighty local authority who very graciously looks after its gateway to the allpowerful internet and asked guidance to see whether it can help in stopping the power of Google messing with its powerful wall of fire. They too were unable to combat the awesome power that Google holds. The knowledgeable Link2ICT spoke back to the school and told it they were the only ones who messed with the omnipotent Google and wereunable to help. So My Question is....... Has anyone else had this problem.....?If so have you fixed it.....? Or should I reprogram the firewall with a large axe..... On a serious note, as far as I can tell from research of the problem, it is a redirection error and it lies with the change in URL name that comes back from YouTube after a request from the browser is sent. We seem to be the only school under Link2ICT control that uses YouTube for Schools, so their experience of it is limited. There is very little support from Google/YouTube on this. HELP!!!!!

Just like to get others thoughts on the use of Youtube in school. We used to block access to Youtube for students through PCE and allow staff full access. We then decided to use the Youtube Educational filter from Google. This was a bit of a pain to set up with Link2ICT, but we managed it and it worked really well for a number of months. The problems have now strated to occurr, with staff getting play errors all the time. It took a lot of chasing down but we think it has something to do with the way Google interacts with Youtube now. So we have a system that works for the students but doesn't work for staff. Next thoughts was dam with it all and just let everyone have access. Do any other schools just give free range to Youtube to their students? Has anyone else got a better alternative? One thing to note was that when we had PCE doing the filtering, and with the Edu filter you can still access the site over Https. So opening it up, would there be any difference?

We have had the same problem as mentioned before where PCE was crashing MS Publisher, but we have also found that on windows 7 PCE crashes the event viewer when you try to examin the logs. I have had to put in an exception for eventvwr.exe and MMC before we could get to see the logs. If that was not just a nightmare we have found to day that PCE is blocking the print spooler on a number of our machines, stopping users having printers. I have put exceptions in for spooler.exe and in the process of monitoring its progress.
