One thing that wound me up as a front line tech: Word is not an image editor Please don't paste a million images into Word then attach them to an email and/or print them out.

(but) fair

Is that on the server or on the workstation?

What, you or the trousers?

For what it's worth, I've just tried this on real production hardware running 1909 that was getting the "0x00006e4" error when it tried to map a printer queue with the KB5006667 patch installed - it's now able to map printers with that registry key.

If they could somehow properly colour calibrate it then that might be worth the £20 but I don't think they'd be able to do that without your computer, surely?

I've not seen a dead pixel on a TFT in a very long time. Obviously not saying that it's impossible to get one, but manufacturing processes seem to have improved to the point where this isn't necessary imo.

Well, yes, I suppose it would do but if it's a choice between: 1) Exposing that specific vulnerability 2) Removing the October patch and exposing all the vulnerabilities 3) Users shouting at me because they can't print I'll take the first option I think
-
I've just tried that on my test VM - it fixed it on there. Going to try on actual machines affected by it now.
-
Balls. I've seen at least two of those from the October patch. Oh well.

I'm testing it this morning

Yes, that’s right.

How old is the laptop? If it’s got a USB3 port, a USB graphics card based on a DisplayLink chipset is perfectly good. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076SX73LY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_G49QH316SN143RE6SEZY

There's the Matrox DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go products, but reasonably priced they're not. I'm pretty sure they're in a field of one, however.

Coffee Lake came out four years ago, almost to the day. Any device bought in the last 2-3 years is likely to have 8th gen or newer CPUs installed in them. By the time 2025 comes along, those devices will be 6-7 years old and towards the end of their life cycles anyway. I know that a lot of schools keep devices that age and older through necessity, but it's not as if Microsoft are forcing us to change everything tomorrow. Windows 10 is going to be supported for the next four years which should be enough time for places to put plans into place to replace this stuff. They might not like it and scream every inch of the way but this is the reality of the situation and everyone is either going to have to suck it up or start looking at alternative solutions to Windows.

Officially yes. Unofficially there are workarounds that let you install it on computers with unsupported CPUs but it's unknown how long this will last. Caveat Emptor

I was going to say "Common" then I realised that's Clapham. So I'm going with "Hackney" instead
