Backup is only any good if goes via different cable, route, and provider.

Doesn't look like anyone has started this yet, but just to get an idea, who has also had issues with NASSTAR connectivity since yesterday afternoon? Seems to be affecting multiple regions. What do you all do for backup lines if you have one and do you have manual or automatic failover? Anyone else want to go help them resolve the issue?!

Has anyone ever actually had any hard drive health software actually work and be accurate and warn about failing drives? Over the weekend had a family member who came back to their computer, said Hard disk failure and no longer would boot. tried multiple times to revive the drive but failed to boot still. The drive wasn't spinning but you could hear it trying to spin like it was stuck. As last resort, A few hits of the drive against the desk powered off and on, kicked it back into life, it spun up and it booted and could have recovered the data if needed to but had a backup. Just out of curiosity attached as secondary drive to PC and it spun up first time. Crystal mark shows no errors, that all is good, and health is GOOD. 77517 power on hours - yes the machine is 10 years old with a Hitachi 500GB SATA original drive. Just fitted an SSD and reinstalled windows to give a new life. i3 machine. Never found any software that reports accurately! The drives just die without warning in all my IT life!

All our switches have D-Link's LoopBack technology enabled on all ports. IN the even of any loopback anywhere in the network, it sends a syslog packet to our syslog server and emails me with switch , and the 2 ports looped. both ports will be disabled stopping the loop, it will check at x interval I set, if loop still exists will continue blocking the ports, if resolved, both ports are re-enabled. Easy way to nail down the culprits.

Do any of these asset systems allow for custom additional field names to be added? I've always found they don't include some useful fields that i currently use.

YES! scheduled task via GPO for shutdown in the evening. When we had a ransomware attack, luckily all clients were off so we didn't have to rebuild them, only the server infrastructure. Done this for years as a security precaution and it served its purpose saving us time when restoring.

Hi I am currently setting up a test vm for our next set of v next upgrades - windows 11 and office currently we have windows 10 and office 2019 On installing office 365 using the download from the mvlsc same as for office 2019, on launch of 365 it appears users have to sign in to activation. Is there a KMS for office 365, or how does auto licensing working for 365 on-site? thanks.

Does anyone have script or online links to scripts that will add the additional alias all local AD accounts first as assume need to be that first before changing 365. This seems a lot of more complex than when i've done changes on local exchange as you just update the email address policy and auto applies to all users and then set new one as default!

Used to host osticket in house but now external so one less internal system. our users don't log in to the ticket system but email our support address and it auto creates a ticket. If caught in corridor response is raise a ticket. they will get email updates on ticket update.

However, when I did change the primary and login to outlook for web, it shows the users email address as the new email address but when sending an email, the recipient still saw it coming from the users old email address but will want the new domain as primary sending and receiving, but receive on both old and new.

I've done this before with local exchange but experiencing a slight difference with office 365. Due to a name/domain change all users should send from their new email address and receive on both new and old email address. In AD, the users UPN and Email address have been updated to their new email address and left to sync with azure AD connect. The user can then sign in with their new email address and receive on their new email address but the old one them disappears as an alias and emails are rejected. Please could someone assist/advise how to get this working as required. thanks in advance.

I find dell so much slower to reboot having to do an inventory every time it restarts. my Hps are quick. Also re HP firmware not usually an issue as they come with 3 year warranty default so just a buy another server in year 3/4 and you can download the packages for the older servers aswell. it's not tied to each server registered.

I've always preferred HP servers highly reliable odd hard drive failure over the years, thats all. As for Dell, well frequent hard drive failures etc. Just now removed a 'virtual disk' from the server using the openmanage administrator and then the server froze and went off-line. For a second,thought i'd remove the OS array, but nope in the logs 'a runtime critical stop occured' and server rebooted. Server is fully up to date with all drivers/firmware and service packs. Marvellous! Pleased i didnt do that during working hours! Can someone elaborate on this a bit more? We're running Windows 10 21H1 and latest version of Papercut and seen no issues

Yeah i've already got that set to disabled in GPO however whenever I do a bulk WOL across the whole site, the broadband connection gets maxed out whilst they all download the update whenever a new one is released.

We've had this issue sporadically ever since getting Papercut. If users log off and back on, they then get the tray icon and popup to select account. Never got to the bottom of it, as we use the papercut client cached version.

Please could I ask for assistance with which policy stops Edge automatically updating from the internet, so i can use WSUS. I thought i had it sorted as updates appeared in WSUS, however when i do a bulk WOL or machines are turn on after not being used for a while, the machines are pulling update from the internet still causing high broadband utilisation. thanks

What do you have for redundancy. RODC at the other site? if your site loses WAN connectivity how will users login. Don't create a SPOF.

I gave up with using own domain in the end and just used the msappproxy url - its an app showing in Office 365 so they dont have to type anything in anyway

Hi We are a MAT with leased lines to all sites using the emPSN network with site-to-site connectivity aswell. What does everyone do for a backup line/filtering to ensure failover in the event of a lease line failure (which we currently have at one site and BT are not being very fast about the repair! Do you have backup for inbound NAT too or just failover to outbound internet access? thanks.

Any particular reason why want to use MAC authentication? We use RADIUS and NPS with Computer based authentication so any machines joined to the domain connect automatically. Anything off the domain uses guest wifi access

VPN for IT Staff only so can remote/fix issues from home, RemoteApp for everyone else
