What kind of pricing are we looking at? Is it per device etc?

Hi all, just looking for a bit of advice. Does anyone use software for deploying windows updates on demand ? Currently WSUS works well for clients, i have a group i approve updates for, test on a few workstations before approving for all the clients. As for servers, due to things that get broken, i manually apply to each server one by one, reboot and test services. Is there any good software I can use to manage out Trust bank of servers in each school centrally and push updates and remotely reboot immediately , rather than logging onto each server one by one?WSUS is alright to approve the updates but still have to login to each one to force a download, install and reboot. thanks in advance.

I already offer remote SIMS access through html5 webclient for our schools. Nothing new there just behind with the times as always, considering when you do a new server install its donkey years old and then apply the latest update! Rather have my data local than hosted , wonder what their infrastructure is like - one security issue and all schools out!

You no longer need local exchange for administrative tasks once migrated. not had any issues inheriting sites where server is decommissioned completely.

Depends on if you are removing exchange completely. As long as you have mailflow rules in place from local to 365 and 365 to local, your MX can point to 365 OR local exchange. If you are removing local exchange entirely then yes just change MX records to 365.

Yes so that mail flows between both but obviously once everything is migrated you can change mx records to 365

It's completely do able. I had local exchange for testing and development running on home ip with ddns and migrated to office 365 business account no problem.

Nightly shutdown is a savior on many reasons. We had a ransomware attack, only affected servers as every client was off overnight! saved us reimaging over 2000 machines.

Always done migrations in house and rebuilt SIMS servers , if you follow their guide on the support portal, its relatively straight forward.

Also got 2022 dc running on dl360 g9 and g10 servers here no problems.

Just clean install the os and then install the service pack after. I never use the provisioning tool.

Not sure if anyone has come across this before, but starting to get users report the error below when saving files. If they click ok the file is there in the same box and if click save again, it says do you want to overwrite the existing file. Testing saving to the same folder everytime, sometimes users get the errors, sometimes don't. Have confirmed issue by testing myself.

If all sites are with the same provider can they not open up IP site to site access? All our schools in the trust use same provider but full bidirectional IP access between them so they don't go via public networks/internet, just through the exchanges private network.

Doesn't seem to be consistently working as an NTP Server now. All sorted - just re-ran the commands on this page - Domain Controller NTP Server Configuration | Be-Virtual.net and everything is back to normal.

I have a DC which has always been setup as a SNTP time source for all devices on network i.e CCTV, Switches etc. This appears to have stopped working. All devices which have the server IP as its entry are now not synching and defaulting to random times. What would suggest steps be to resolve? thanks in advance.

I have inherited a system which uses MDT to deploy their images. At the moment only domain admin credentials are working to deploy the image. if i enter any other user details they are accepted but then the screen just stays blank. How do i add another user to be allowed to recover images to the machines? thanks in advance.

Currently have a Probook as main workhorse laptop for day to day across multiple sites. always been reliable just getting on a bit. Wondered if anyone has experience with surface laptops. Are they worth it or should I stick with probook?

You can do this without any major effects - did the procedure myself when inheriting an RM school. RM is just management tools centralised based on everything you'd do separately, ADUC, GPO, etc. All i did was spin up new servers, promoted to AD, moved file shares to new servers etc, uninstalled/dcpromo'd RM servers, job done. Only cleanup i have left to do is remove/change some legacy security groups. no need to change any usernames or policies.

All external with emPSN.

No just staff - approx 120 users. All students use webmail.

I think i've worked out that since migrating from local exchange to 365, our internet bandwidth is being maxed out. All users use the full version of Outlook, in on-line mode so that everything is live and up to date. I don't want to use cached email due to profile sizes and if exclude from profile don't want it to cache the mailbox each time the users logs on. What other viable solutions are there to reduce the bandwidth being used as seem to get constant spikes and maxing out all the time during the day causing slow internet.

Must be only certain areas, as one of our schools go to TTB node then into the emPSN network, but the site is working fine both to internet and between other sites.

I have been advised a CRA report will be issued 10 days after resolved.

no issues across our 4 sites this morning, running at normal speed and bandwidth usage.
