Hi! I'm trying to get a list of all the malware that the Endpoint Protection has stopped over the last 6 months but not matter what dates I put in, it only shows me the last week or so - where do I change how long SCCM keeps data for so in the future this will work?

Not sure why Capita didnt tell me all that then! I told them what I needed to do and asked for the guides to do it and all they sent me was how to migrate SQL 2008 to 2012 or 2014. I've requested an account so I can log on to the support area to get the KB articles you mention but it says my organisation needs to approve it and as there are only 6 of us onsite until September (none of which are the SIMS administrator) then it's unlikely I'll get the account approved in time!

Hi! We've just taken on another Primary Academy and it has SIMS installed on Server 2003 with SQL 2008 which we/I need to upgrade/migrate to a new server - the person who normally does this is away from work at the moment so I'm on a sharp learning curve to get this done! Capita have kindly sent me some guides on how to migrate to SQL 2012 but (unless I'm not looking in the right place) it doesnt actually say how SIMS/SOLUS gets on the server? I assume there are loads of you who have done this before so I was wondering if someone could bullet-point the steps I need to do to upgrade/migrate the 2003 SQL 2008 SIMS server I have at this site to a 2008R2 server with SQL 2012 on it? Thanks.

lol, yeah it does that! When I first tried Windows 10 it didnt warn me what it was going to do, it was only afterwards it had uninstalled a load of software such as RSAT!

Try logging on as a different user and then perform Windows Updates - that's worked for me a few times when it just sits their for days searching for updates. Logging back in as the original user after any updates have been installed then seems to work.

That was the first thing I tried. As a test, using the same Driver that was successfully injected in to Windows PE - but after it completes the Task Sequence the Laptop is still in a Workgroup and the Network card driver is not installed. If I run the same Task Sequence on another computer (completely different brand/model) then it works OK and puts the computer on the domain so it's definitely something to do with these laptops.

Glad you told me that else I might have ended up banging my head against the wall trying to get it to work when we probably dont have that piece of hardware on any of our laptops!

The driver has injected OK in to the PXE boot.wim file so I now have an IP address so it can connect to the SCCM server and run the Task Sequence. Only issue now is none of the drivers are getting installed in to the image that is part of the task sequence! I've even tried adding them as an Application during the task sequence taking advantage of silent installs (done this numerous times before and it's always worked). Had this problem before with another Lenovo (T410 I think) so we have to manually install the drivers after imaging via SCCM. Is there something special that needs to be done on these particular models of Lenovo laptops?

If you do a quick Google you'll see there is a registry key you can change. You could push that out via a Group Policy (if you test it and it works).

That's very strange then. I can understand if no password is set and it's the only enabled account then it might just log on by itself. But to log on automatically when there is a password set is very strange as if you had set up and auto-logon thing then you'd have to at some point enter the password. Very odd.

It's not appeared in the Updates and Servicing section for me yet. As soon as it's released there I will install it and see what it does!

Now that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (1602) has been released we can get to grips with its new features. Active Hours (assuming we can configure it with a Group Policy) makes sense so that PCs arent rebooting during the day when Teachers are using them. Project to PC sound interesting - when I get a chance I definitely want to look at that and give it a go. What new features do you like or are looking forward to trying?

On top of 1602 there are also 3 small patches for it too! From now on you update it via Administration > Cloud Services > Updates and Servicing

Of course it is! This is what happens when you have two weeks off in a row (well for me anyway) it takes a while for all the knowledge to creep back in to my brain! No IP address at the command prompt confirms that you're right, the NIC driver needs to be injected in to the boot.wim file - done this a few times before so should have remembered! Thanks

I've come back to work after having 2wks off annual leave and my boss has left me a pile of shiny new Lenovo Laptops (E560 models). I need to get them set up ready for September but they wont SCCM for some reason. They PXE Boot OK and actually start to load SCCM - they get as far as displaying our personalised 'splash screen' and just when they should be showing the list of available Task Sequences they reboot! Help!
