good point about backing up the ipad before unsupervising. There are a mixture of OSs, some XP some 7 and my laptop which is 8 and still no joy - my laptop had the latest itunes installed as I did wonder if there was a changed to the mobile support module. I've come across that XP error before. if you don't want to role out iTunes to fix it you can just download iTunes, extract using 7zip or similar and just deploy the Apple Mobile Support msi.

thanks for the reply. They were prepared about 18 months/2 years ago, I can't remember if that was an option in configurator then. Staff have always been able to connect them, that would suggest yes to me. It wasn't until we rolled out ios8 that this issue arose. I will try unsupervising and resupervising one to see if that works.

Have a bunch of supervised iPads across several schools and started getting complaints that staff can no longer connect iPads to computers(running Windows) to take images/videos off. Ipads were setup with allow connecting to another computer enabled and staff were able to take pictures and videos off. Have tried myself and confirmed this is no longer possible for them. The only change I can thing of is update from ios7 to 8. I have ensured the supervison mac is up to date, including updating configurator, the configuration profile and refreshing the profile installation on the ipads. Is there something that was brought into iOS8 to prevent connection to a computer or is there some part of my configuration that needs updating? Currently have to connect to the supervising mac to get images off which is less than ideal Any suggestions gratefully received!

we run two, one which is the LA maintained although we have some access to it and can run reports/add exceptions - this is the one all student and staff traffic needs to go through. The second one is a basic one (an upgrade to squid is on the things to do list!) that admins use to get unfiltered access. I tried the logging thing through that and that's how got the domains i listed, i can only think I've missed something so I will look again at that. annoyingly this still seems to be the case even in the latest ios 7 release. has anyone found a route around this without having to factory reset the device. the problem being even once it is reset and you hand it back into the class the issue will soon repeat itself. it wouldn't be so bad if it stored one set of correct details, but ours seem to prompt for a new set of details at random intervals, rendering certain sites (which are allowed with authentication and not without) inaccessible until that point.

I have been having issues getting soundcloud to work through our school proxy, it will however work ok through our unfiltered admin proxy. I have 3 entries in the school proxy to allow various sound cloud urls access, I am unsure if there maybe more - my thinking is there probably is but I am unable to trace them. The teachers/students are trying to use soundcloud on their ipads, and these work OK for all other internet related stuff. One school uses the app and is unable to log in through it and one has used the browser and is having difficulty with playback of recordings - the pages load up ok but then just sit there like they are waiting to buffer and won't playback. the 3 entries I have are: snd.sc sndcdn.com soundcloud.com I put in a request to Soundcloud support for a list of urls and ports that were required but the response was basically a no. Has anybody had any experience of getting soundcloud working on ipads through a proxy and can shed some light on this?

thanks for the response. there is one and it has been run, the diagnostics service and usage pages all came out without the banding, it was a little faint which could point towards faulty sensors again not releasing the right amount of toner. the above then occurs intermittently on printouts, although i am informed it is happening more and more often. there had been previous issues with the printer producing a blue line down the edge of pages, this was down to a groove being worn into the drum after approx 80% of its capacity was spent. this doesn't seem to happen since switching from genuine toners. the reverse of the page in the image has very faint and much more close packed banding.

one of our schools had an engineer in from their local toner supplier and he informed them that the attached was result of the printer (there are two printers doing this in school) needing new assembly belt (transfer kit?). just looking for a second opinion, quote to replace part was 228 and they offered a hp printer as a replacement for 300 after cash back which seems reasonable, with free 3 year warranty if their toners are used, which again seems reasonable. the printer the image is from is only 3 years old and has done 60k pages is the assembly belt expected expire in that length of time? any feedback appreciated.

cant seem to pull up the contact name - can you remember which topic this was buried in? has anyone had any luck contacting hitachi recently about this? One of ours went this week when I rang Hitachi asking to speak to someone about repairs for projectors and got put through to a recorded message directing me to the equinox repair website - I was less than impressed! Don't really want to fork out the money for repair when they have set a precedent of replacing out of warranty. a name or department / telephone number would be really useful if anyone is able to provide one. thanks

apple configurator on a macbook pro running mountain lion. the ssid details are in the profile and the network cannot be forgotten on the ipad - presumably because its set in the profile. power/home button reset didn't have any effect

had a bunch of ipads set up on the network before xmas with profiles installed to manage details. Now the WiFi settings seem to have forgotten the proxy and set itself to off. when I manually change it it just switches back to being off straight away. i have tried resetting the network settings and restarting the device, I'm going to try ressetting the device using power/home and see if that helps. really hoping I don't need to factory reset and restore all the devices that this is starting to happen on. any one experienced this issue with proxy on ipad?

school has about 15 of these laptops and probably 5 of them have developed the same screen problem: Image is produced intermittently and will appear to roll, if you adjust the screen angle you can find a "sweet spot" where the image is displayed properly, this works for a short time before the screens become more or less unusable. wondering if its the ribbon or the connector on the back of the screen that is failing? ribbon being a cheapish fix, screen probably meaning they are on their way out. any thoughts? thanks
