  1. I am GOD and Spartacus
  2. Josh I would be very intersted in seeing more information on this product or some contact details for the company Anton
  3. He was the Head at my old school in Capua
  4. So under the OFT rulings Capita have to supply SIMS softwareto Bromcom as a Technical partner who have coincidentally just developed a new MIS product and SIMS front end ?
  5. Josh if it's for development for your school then there don't appear to be any fees. if you want to develop something for distribution to other schools then you may well need to invest in a developers license. I thinks it's two grand per annum.
  6. Jenny what days are you going to be at BETT ?
  7. Josh what did your local SMIS team say when you requested the business object documentation ?
  8. Tonyoung

    FMS cost

When is FMS 7 due - is that a net version with SQL server ?
  9. Tonyoung

    FMS cost

the cost will depend on the number of pupils on roll and whether you are a LA supported school or take your support direct from Capita.
  10. It looks like a different part of Capita has made the acquisition - SIMS is Childrens Services, IT services are the team that purchased Carillion IT Services. I see this having little effect on SIMS and minimal change for LGFL or education customers.
  11. have you checked there are no comms packages loaded such as anycomms ? Source of all my cheque print problems.
  12. Eddie - it used to be very good but I don't think it's supported anymore.
  13. I would certainly be interested in seeing your portal - can you post or PM log in details. We were put off the product last time we looked by it's lack of interoperability with SIMS. Has this now been fixed ?
  14. Bromcom employee alert
  15. Raven, FINN (IBM ?) and that product developed by Patrick Bird in AVON LA (as it used to be) - what was it called ?
  16. in that case you may wish to amend the FAQs on your website ? Q. DO WE HAVE TO MANUALLY INPUT OUR STUDENT DATA ONTO YOUR SYSTEM? A. No. We don’t believe in forcing you to duplicate work. You already have all the data we need within your school computer systems and so we arrange extraction of your student data from your CMIS or SIMS system.
  17. How do you extract the data from SIMS ?
  18. can you tell me more about the problems with Junior Librarian as it's a product we were considering purchasing next term ?
  19. But I am not employed as a professional developer - Richard is - are you ? Probably not Probably yes I suspect your problem is licensing your solution rather than accreditation. How are you going to avoid invalidating SIMS warranty for all those schools who write back - assuming that's what you want to do from Moodle to SIMS ? Correct it's just they appear to supply additional code examples and specific training for partners.
  20. perhaps the Business objects are designed for use by professional developers . It was my understanding that Capita's partners use specific documentation supplied for their needs - have you considered investing in some consultancy ?
  21. it may be a requirement of your end user agreement for SIMS or the LA contract with Capita - do you have a copy you can look at? If you are writing back to the data base it seems sensible that the license holder is at least aware if there is a clause that says they should be notified.
  22. It was my understanding that these were view only products ? The only data that Bromcom write back is statutory attendance and I don't think they write back lesson or behaviour data. Happy for a Bromcom spokesperson to prove me wrong.
  23. @Penfold are you confirming that direct reads from SIMS could have a hugely adverse affect on the performance of the database ? Could explain a lot
