I'd agree with Dos_box. Lots of organisations are actively telling their employees to be careful of meeting with AI bots in for transcribing due to NDAs, GDPR and other sensitivity issues. So be very careful. Teams recording does this, though I haven't ever read fully the transcription so have no idea how good it is. At a cursory glance it seems great.

That's what I mean. Make it the HoDs issue. Hand over the kit and say they need to setup and train the staff as it is now a departmental issue, not an IT issue. I say that with not much of a hope it actually taking but they need to live by their decisions.

So I think I have found an interesting one and just not looking at it right & missing something fundamental to get an answer. We have Smoothwall device all working fine. We have laptops that are Intune managed and sign on to Wi-Fi with DPSK and RADIUS. This allows authentication with Smoothwall and filtering based on groups, either in AD or Entra. If that laptop is then plugged into the network, it becomes unauthenticated. This is obvious when I thought about it, auth was done on RADIUS and it is now on a wire, so not on RADIUS. But how do I authenticate the user? The laptops do not use the AD network so not authenticated there. Is there a way to automatically authenticate an Intune device with Smoothwall. Or am I left to use an SSL login page?

You have your evidence. You need to hand this issue over to the HoD and say that you have offered a solution that is low maintenance and easy to use so it is that or they need to ensure staff are using the equipment correctly and to train them. It is not your job to run around after them. You have supported them but lack of bother is not your job.

What is their issue with renaming the files? And how is it different from naming the file from Audacity?

I went with Locker, after having been a happy Salamander customer for many years at a previous job, as Salamander couldn't fit us in and we needed it sorted. Locker is a fantastic solution run by fantastic staff, the same as Salamander, but Locker is very much geared towards a single school doing straight forward processes. By this I mean it does not look at a lot of iSAMS fields so cannot carry out logic against them. Our use case for this was we have a prep school and a senior school, we want new users labelled as what school they are at for dynamic grouping within Entra. Locker cannot do this for staff so we have to manually go into a user after they are created and add Senior or Prep, no biggie but it is an extra manual step in an otherwise automated process. Both great products but it is horses for courses.

Set the former to TRUE and the later to the number of seconds for 24 hours. I don't currently have an MRBS instance up and running but I'm sure that is what I have done in the past.

You would need to look at paging, which doesn't need answering. Though I seem to recall that it isn't great over multiple subnets, so it may depend on your network design how effective it is.

Yep, we had an engineer setting up a device and the usual, non-standard but work out able passwords didn't work and he was talking about everything changing due to PSTI coming into force. Their passwords were not the worse, better than their previous regime of AdminAdmin, or Admin1234, but this seemed like a long overdue change. Planet eStream is the digital successor to the old TV and VHS in the corner. Though it looks like they have had a rebrand into just eStream. It allows recording from freeview broadcast, as well as uploading your own resources. If one person has recorded something, then everyone has access to it. You also get 30 days back recording and a whole host of other content. Not cheap, but I seem to remember it was cheaper than ClickView. Big disclaimer, it looks like they have been bought out by UniGuest so I cannot comment on how the company is now. Used to be very responsive and friendly.

Yes, using Papercut for scan to email and scan to OneDrive. Just updated Papercut to OAuth. Not going to say it was a breeze but it works now. Monitor it for 24 hours as I set it up and then it fell over again. Alos read the instructions carefully as there was a login that clearly said in the instructions must be the intended user and of course I blitzed past that instruction and logged in as myself and it all went wrong. InPrivate/Incognito browser was a help. Only caveats are that the folder in OneDrive it scans to is non-obvious and the user has to accept an email link first. I have seen staff going through their OneDrive trying to find the scan but ignored the email so it never gets delivered. This is first time only though.

Might be worth running Process Monitor and see what it is trying to do. This is not normal behaviour and sounds like somewhere is trying to be written to that has been locked down.

Wonder if it will be like the Quartermasters in Vietnam. When a helicopter was shot down quartermasters had to submit what equipment was on the flight to be written off. On a few occasions it was found the helicopter must have been the most powerful helicopter in the world due to the weight it was supposedly carrying. This warehouse will now be shown to be Tardis like in its capacity, holding all lost packages for the last 3 months. It may even become even more Tardis like and be holding future parcels as well.

Cloud based you will be extremely hard pressed to find a free one, they will have costs for hosting. If you can host your own, then you can use Zabbix or if you are happier running Windows you can use PRTG up to 100 sensors. PRTG also offer a hosted version for €129 (~£110) a month for up to 500 sensors. You can a host Zabbix in the cloud, probably for not a lot. Personally, I would start off on site to find what you like and what works monitoring, then move to hosted if you find you want more. The only benefit hosted offers, apart from you not having to manage the hardware, is you will get alerts for if your whole site goes down or Internet goes down out of hours.

Yeah, as Davit2005 says that is setup to be the bare minimum and no need for any admin, which is lazy rather than good. The implications are that anyone plugging in a device has access to anything if the port is patched so you may as well not have VLANs at all. Personally, I would set up more VLANs, to segregate out certain devices like Printers and WiFi, and then assign only those needed to each port and except in certain circumstances this would be one VLAN per port.

For future adventurers, it was a unique under the hood issue. Somehow, somewhen, the files and folder structure associated with the firewall logs had been deleted, leaving nowhere for it to be written to or display from. Engineer kindly rebuilt the structure by hand and we are up and running!

More information for the use case would probably help. Again, using Kiosk mode, you could use MS Sway, to show videos, stacks and other information, but it isn't going to be interesting to navigate, as it is mostly scrolling.
