I am just in the process of creating a new domain. I have installed a fresh copy of Server 2003 on a newserver. I have gone to DCPROMO and selected Domain Controller for a New Domain Child Domain in an Existing Domain tree Inputted the login details - The Domain that i chose is the top dog domain within our existing forest I then selected the domain from the browse option and inputted a new domain name Then i get the error message below DNS was successfully queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain DOMAIN NAME.NET: The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAIN NAME.NET The following domain controllers were identified by the query: (no domain controllers found) Common causes of this error include: - Host (A) records that map the name of the domain controller to its IP addresses are missing or contain incorrect addresses. - Domain controllers registered in DNS are not connected to the network or are not running. But the folder already exists as it automatically creates the home directory for the user when you set the user up.

HI All, Im having a moment!! Is there a way of bulk sharing folders. I want to share pupils home directories is there away i can do the whole lot at once or do i need to do them individually. Faza

Sorted it i removed the directory through the image i386 folder, as it was empty anyway.

I am trying to RIS a machine first of all it wanted me to create the additional network driver folders $oem$ etc... Yes we have only got one server

We have an Exchange 2003 server and it is acting very strange. This error is only affecting one user where when the user logs in, the user gets the logon page, logs on but then gets the page cannot be found screen. It has only happened today no settings have been changed the rest of the users can logon and check their mail not a problem. Any help / advice will be appreciated.

When i use the backup software supplied with Server 2003, i create a backup and select First Storage Group and it creates a 14Gb file. I come to just take a look at its contents by going to restore expanding the backup and i can the Mailbox store etc... all the yellow folders but when i select one to see the contents it says no entries is this correct? If i just back the c:\ i can see the contents. Is this right???

You mean just back up the databases? And dont install Exchane 2003 on the 2nd server.

I have a Exchange Server 2003 and what i would like to do is build a new server with Exchange 2003 on and use it as a backup server. What is the best way of doing it? For instance if i like turn one server off the other one could still run the exchange and contain the database and all the necessary items.

Hi, We have a Exchange 2003 server and every now and then it crashes and you have to wait for approx 5 minutes until the focus returns. It is like something is happening on the server and you cant use Outlook or OWA until the process has finished. What exactly happens is that the Outlook icon in the system tray gets a red exclamation mark and it says Outlook is trying to retrieve data.... I have checked the server and the event log and it suggests that every 5-10 it is trying to connect to a user which has had its account and mailbox disabled. Is there anything we can do to remove the user from the list apart from deleting as i believe you are supposed to retain the records for some time after the user has left incase of any evidence and so forth. Or has anybody got any ideas what it could be? Faza

Yes i can ping servers and restasrted tftp but still stuck at MAC Address.
