Ye, the same here as well but it seems to have settled down now. All clients and the server have been rebooted since, so maybe that helped

There's probably some Windows script to do it but I couldn't write it for you. You'd have to do it for each user (~/Library) manually otherwise. Couldn't hurt to try it out on a 1 or 2 users that are having problems.

Don't know if this will apply to you but I had a very similar problem recently. Turned out Apple Push Notifications (APN) had turned itself off. Without anyone touching the server. Turning it on and a quick off and on of profile manager seemed to bring it back to life

For the users that can't do you get any obvious errors? For those users do they have the correct home path in Directory Utility? Unless you're using Mobile Accounts, cache shouldn't be a problem. To be honest I found it easier just to wipe (_old) the Library file when I initially had similar issues. Are they all the same version of OS X?

To redirect home folders you need to set the AD binding settings as below. You don't need to bind clients to the Open Directory but you do need to enrol them into Profile Manager. I'm not actually sure of the nuance there but there you go. http://i.imgur.com/XsKXfMG.png You can use AD groups in Profile Manager (I do). Bind your server to the AD (using directory utility) and they will be available to you in profile manager. Side note:If you're deploying multiple machines I'd look into Deploy Studio. Took me a while to start using it but it's great. Also get Apple Remote Desktop

Resetting profile manager works fine, never any particular issues doing it. I would though, just wipe the server and start again. After many OS and Server.app upgrades, I've just started from scratch and everything is running so much smoother. I realise of course this is easy to say having a familiarity with OS X. You 'just' need to go into System Preferences, remove the Profiles and then enrol the machines into your new Profile Manager. They (machine settings) will still work without profile manager running though so don't feel you need to rush to remove them. I am currently doing the same, so if you have any burning questions, ask away.

Hope you don't mind a curiosity question. Just because I haven't used it, is there any particular advantage of using Configurator and Profile Manager? Rather than just Profile Manager on it's own.

Yes. Went over to Yosemite in the summer but could never solve all the issues with mail.app. El-Capitan seems to work perfectly (famous last words...)

I've never used Configurator so can't help you there. I just use profile manager to setup devices, so I don't know how they interact. (You might want to leave it out of the process to make sure profile manager is working). Profile manager help: The certificate thing is fine, it always seems to moan about that. Did you install any profiles 'manually' from the profiles tab or did it just run through them when you hit 'enrol'? No idea about the time, it's usually fairly quick but I think parts of profile manager are a mysterious black hole. Kill the task. Sounds like it's enrolled. See if you can push out a setting.

When you say "I can push a profile...", do you mean via Configurator? Actually, I'll assume yes. On the device go to http://yourmacserver.domain.com/mydevices Tap the Enroll button and see if it enrols. Depending on your setup you may need to choose the Profiles tab on the same page and install the Trust Profile. Try without first.

I'm in a relatively small school so I deleted and recreated all the users (created the home folder in Windows, and then the Library folder on Mac). It solved all the issues I was having with user slowness/crashing. Office 2016 never got better so we're back on 2011 and all is well

Update (for anyone that might be doing the same). I don't think all Yosemite (10.10) has solved the problem, though things seem a little better. Spotlight seems to be indexing and re indexing at random, especial when using Office 2016 apps. I'm going to downgrade office and then download the El-Capitain Beta and see how that is. Edit/That's odd. Everything pretty much locks up with the log files written to constantly but, if I get a user to log off and back on, everything is fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm having the exact same problem! Launching the console shows the same errors building up rapidly. Just now I wiped the last of the 10.8.5 machines and am crossing my fingers but am not hopeful. The next call is to Apple Enterprise. Are you able to load up Mail.app?

I've got Office 2016 nicely deployed and disabled all the run once startup stuff and now I'm moving on to Outlook. Is there a way to have it take the logged on user details/credentials? 1 and 2 there are 'easy' with remote desktop. 1. Select the computer(s) -> Click on Unix -> Templates -> Miscellaneous -> Install All Software Updates There are some other update commands there you can try out. 2. Select computer(s) -> Click Install and then drag drop your package (.pkg) file and click Install. This does require the install/update to be in packages form but I have yet to have an app/driver I couldn't get a package for. This is of course making the big assumption that Remote Desktop is setup to allow you to interact with the client computers

I just installed the PPD driver and then added a random network printer. I seem to get all the options. Can you post a picture of you print dialog? This is mine below. Is yours a network printer and how are you adding it?

Cancel the pending task in profile manager Uninstall the trust profile from the device and try again. For some reason, recently I've had to install the trust profile after enrolling devices. I just enrolled my iPhone to the directory, was sitting pending for a few minutes, how long did you give it? If it doesn't fail I suspect there's no error in the logs but check the Profile manger(service) logs in the server.app. Does it show it processing the IP of the device you're enrolling? Or anything else that sticks out as not right?

Could be a few things, Are you going to http://machinename.domain.whatever/mydevices to enroll them? Are you installing the Trust Profile? What stage do you get to before it starts pending? Edit/Actually do you mean it's says "pending' in Profile Manager itself?

Sounds like you're well on the way to having this done. I might not be as much help here though, I've set up all the infrastructure to deploy apps (sounds like you have too), but haven't actually pushed one out.
