I totally agree. Heads should roll and a team of experts with a proved track record of enterprise cloud systems parachuted in to sort this.

Performance on Friday was great. I didn't even prepare an Excel register for this morning. Serves me right for having hope. The amount of lost time due to Bromcom this academic year is absolutely monsterous.

Come on, times have moved on in the 15+ years since the netbook atom EEE PC rubbish that exists only in landfill and nightmares now. They had what, a 1Ghz single core CPU? and IIRC Windows starter only allowed 1Gb of RAM making sure it really was dogmuck. The only benefit was better battery life than the power hungry chips of the time. I'm not an apple fanboy but to my memory Apple don't tend to ship crap - so I think this will actually be alright. Noone running blender is going to consider one of these, but neither will/should they consider a £500 model of any other device.

Cautiously optimistic as it not only seems to be up..... but actually drawing the page faster than usual. Noticed that bar on the side has vanished.... perhaps it was that userguiding module from Feb again. Hopefully they just leave it off permanantly.

Honestly I don't what kind of vibe-coded hellscape bromcom is built on but like you I think I'll be out the door too. Between the minimium viable product feature releases and inability to keep the lights on I don't know why anyone would stay.

Who would have known... when at 4pm yesterday there was an update to say there was no update. Maybe there was noone on Fiverr available to help diagnose the last 2 days of problems?

It's quite compelling. I'd be interested to see what ifixit makes of it before considering it as a school purchase. 8Gb of RAM doesn't worry me too much, MacOS is much leaner than Windows and I've had an 8Gb M1 Macbook which was absolutely fine. It's actually slightly cheaper than the thinkpads I currently buy, but those do have touchscreen/pen/flip so not really a fair comparison. Still nice to see Apple have a lower bar to enter their ecosystem, when MS are doing their best to frustrate its desktop users.

I've only used Bromcom for about 3 years but from my memory every outage/poor performance... of which there has been too many... has been down to capacity limits. Search for "root cause" on the bromcom community and you'll notice a pattern.

Exactly the same for about 10/15 minutes at same time of day. toomanyrequests errors and pages not loading properly.

I'm the one who moaned on the community yesterday. could see this coming with the errors thrown. not good enough.

+1 for switching to MCAS. Can link with most catering companies too. I think the fees were less too. Wraparound Clubs, Trips, Items, Dinners, all in one place. Nothing but positive feedback from switching. Why are you stuck? If it's already included in your Bromcom license then no reason not to switch, even if you've an agreement with PP.

Yeah I've had the same on several occasions. Their helpdesk sucks, their documentation sucks, and so does the "community". The only info worthwhile is buried inside 2 hour+ webinars. Someone's employed to make sure they don't breach SLA by providing a response within X hours. It's always a sign I'm not going to get a quick response. Nag replies to chase don't make your ticket ping on their radar either. I've tickets open since Feb, had quite a few go longer than 6 months. Their own "Known Issues" page lists bugs going back to 2023. But don't worry there's an AI agent coming soon that will fix everything

Like you say the phone is essentially becoming a wifi and bluetooth hotspot doing realtime screen sharing. If USB isn't giving it enough power then get a better charger, wired charging should certainly be able to keep up. There's nothing you can do to calm down the power consumption as far as I know.

My car has wireless AA and Carplay and wireless charging built in. I can feel my phone getting warm in my pocket. Wireless charging can't provide enough power to compensate, and even if it did then the heat build up causes errors about phone getting warm, even with a snapdragon 8 elite chip in it. Any more than a 10 minute drive across town, I just plug it in. Android Auto and Carplay are definitely worth it but I get why you might be disappointed.

Just a heads up in case any of you use Iiyama screens and Bytello share (iiyama screen sharing app) The newer version of Bytello share has a P2P sharing option in settings that, when running but not connected to a screen, absolutely cripples network throughput on the device. Unfortunately it's a user level setting and on by default so I've had to create a remediation script that checks and modifies the config in every user profile on a schedule. I have reported it to them, but they aren't particularly helpful. We use Bytello share quite heavily as we use wireless projection as our primary connection method, so it's been quite a pain. Hope this helps someone or comes up in any search engines for slow network when using bytello share.

Thanks - I've hit that button now - will see what happens! Would be weird that other 3rd parties are getting correct data, but I wouldn't put it past Bromcom to cache it per user.

Some of our students moved class yesterday - I can see the sync working in Bromcom, and other products that link directly to Bromcom are getting correct groups, but products using Wonde (including the Wonde fire register) are out of date. Anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

a) Stick the music school owns in a shared folder. b) Buy the songs - Amazon Mp3 or rip directly from CD. c) Teacher choice. Give teacher access to Amazon account and wash your hands of it entirely? The actual purchasing of the music and how it goes through is a problem for finance. Teacher could purchase and claim back petty cash. Either way as long as there's a place to store the MP3s then you're good I think? let them run themselves and don't get too involved!

Intune / Defender for endpoint does basic filtering. Are they staying on your asset list and being given back to you eventually? If not, get the parents to set up Microsoft Family Safety and let the parents manage it, unless you want to be on the hook for every little alteration forever more Do school owned or parent owned, anything in between is asking for trouble IMHO
