Meru's tech should handle bonjour routing though so we should be able to use them over a few vlans without issue? Wes

We are currently looking at upgrading our existing Juniper/Trapeze wireless solution to Meru down to a few things really firstly Meru, Aruba and Meraki can do location based Bonjour routing (I believe Aerohive might but I can't find any definite info in that regard) we are looking to use the higher density 832i APs as these are capable of Draft AC bandwidth and will hopefully allow us some future proofing. My question is, is anyone else using this system and if you are are you using the Bonjour routing if both cases are true what difficulties have you run into? Thanks, Wes

I'm looking for an online facilities management system that can do several things: 1). Room bookings sync'd from iSAMS 2). Parents Evening Bookings which the parents can log into and fill out a quick form for their child or children. 3 a). External Bookings for Sports etc that can have Charges associated with it and the booker can register an account with us (if not already in the system) b). To provide contact details, payment details and have it raise invoices automatically. c). Tied into Google maps to help them locate the venue booked. 4). The ability of accepting Online payments preferably something that can be integrated fully with our system. Wes

Okay several VLANs several subnets I know bonjour cannot cast over subnets and even with aerohive or others providing a relay across subnets this could easily start causing issues we try not to broadcast or multicast if we can help it here are there any reasonable ways round this at all? Wes

We currently use our VLE for access to User Data such as My Documents and Shared Areas. Can any of you suggest a more seamless way of doing this I was thinking Skydrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc as options even Skydrive Pro driven by Sharepoint. I'd like it to work on Windows, Linux and OS X but if there are any vendor lockin options it would be interesting to know? Wes

Is there any MDM that can silently push apps to iPads without the need for any user intervention now? They all seem to need user intervention even if it's only a password. Wes

As the shell_exec would be running in another process they would complete asynchronously so the MySQL statement would change the status of a record before the conversion completes. Wes
-
Haven't tried this yet but whilst searching for another way around this I found the following will work: shell_exec("(ffmpeg input.avi output.mp4 && php -e 'aphpfile.php') > /dev/null 2> alogfile.log &"); The commands need to be encapsulated in parentheses and turning of stdin ">" and stderr "2>" to output to file also the & at the end will run it in a separate process. So that looks like it has worked perfectly. Wes

I've written a little program to automatic converting videos from a folder in linux using ffmpeg via shell_exec in php easy enough to do and worthwhile for the thousands of little clips I have I've got it to start the conversion in another process so as not to stall the php script until it's completed. However once it is completed I want another command to run (again in a separate process) and update a record in mysql. The & symbol works well but when you have two commands in shell_exec you use a ; to show a new command has started and putting an & in between doesn't work it fails to run the command and after is too late as the second command would run in a separate process but not the first so it would still delay the PHP script. Any ideas on how I could do this? shell_exec("ffmpeg input.avi output.mp4; php -e 'aphpfile.php'"); Any thoughts? I know I should be using escapeshellarg but this is only used by me at the moment. Wes

Not sure will try that and let you know. Wes

As you may already be aware we recently upgrade from Exchange 2007 to 2013. We've had a few users with their own distribution groups where the contacts contained in them don't show anywhere in the contacts lists so you cannot edit the contact if their details change however when they show up in the group their email address is blank but they still get messages sent to that group? I have no idea why this is the case. Anyone else have a clue? Wes
