  1. Depends on how many pupils your school can accommodate for. That's how they work it out, first year is a lot normally, but after the first year they half the price so it's not to bad, and you can set it up to pay it off over 3 years
  2. Have it at 3 of my schools and it is amazing!
  3. I always find this useful when needing to mass change passwords or login scripts etc. Bulk AD
  4. That's awesome, and looks great, shall be showing that to the head and one of my schools when I am there next. Just wondering if there is anyway to have it so if the member is part of group pupils it exits it as well, just for those rare moments that pupils might log onto the teachers desktop? Thanks Edit: Don't worry, just figured out I could add it to the staff startup script to run on startup Silly me...
  5. No sorry, I hadn't refreshed the page by the time I came to send the message so didn't see your post.
  6. I saw this post and it looked quite interesting to me and useful, I am trying to set it up aswell, but I keep getting "Error 5 getting session names" Unless I send a message to the machine I'm on or I'm on the server, is there anything I need to enable or install to get it to work?
  7. Damn ask for a refund? - - - Updated - - - Glad to see a lot of you are having fun with your server names
  8. Okay I've learnt something new, how do you do that?
  9. That's epic!
  10. Think it would be easier to remember the IP addresses in the case...
  11. TheMightyX-13 sounds like a good name
  12. It is only a small primary school with one server running everything so a naming scheme isn't really needed.
  13. That's what they have already as I took it over from an outsourced company they had the name dc$schoolname$pc. But I have never really liked that name.
  14. So I have myself a nice shiny new server to start setting up and transfering stuff across from the old server. But because the old server will still be live etc I need to come up with a new name, and it's harder than you think. So I was wondering if any of you lovely people have given your servers some awesome epic names or just gone for names based on the schools name? Plus if you can come up with some epic names then go for it Edit: Don't need a naming scheme as there aren't loads of server, only the old one and new one so there will be 2 names that I need to remember what they do and are
  15. Don't keep the poor thing in the cupboard, let it out and be used, I still have a trolley of D520's at one of my primary schools! Let it into the wild! I would like to add that this isn't by choice, the school has no money for new laptops.
  16. In that case the teachers email address will still be different and they will be remembering a different one as there current is [email protected] and for one drive it would be [email protected]? So it seems pointless to change it as they will still need to remember a different email address... Or am I getting the wrong impression?
  17. That's odd, I might be thinking wrong as I did mine ages and ages ago, but I'm sure I only needed to at the MX or TXT records in order to use the email functionality, as I got the County Broadband team to change this in the holidays after I had already set everyones account up using the schools domain.
  18. Might not work then as it has to validate the domain? But surely it is hosted somewhere for your current email system to work?
  19. If you setup with your own domain will give you the option to use the @school.sch.uk domain name, and aslong as your DNS Settings aren't edited to point to Office 365 via your host provider your emails should still go through the current way
  20. I know it's a pretty simple one, but have you tried connecting it to the network via a cable? As it could just be the built in wifi is bust? Or if you have another laptop of the same make/model etc. swap the Wifi cards over see if that works, then you know you have faulty wifi
  21. OMG!!! I've learnt something new!! You two are amazing!! THANKYOU!!
  22. I have never seen that before?
  23. I'm hoping someone can help, to access network documents on the iPads we use Foldr, which requires the user to have a username and password. But as a Primary school the kids don't have passwords, and they want to keep it that way. I was wondering if there was anyway I could create a user in AD lets say: Username: ipad Password: ipad But is there anyway for me to block this person from logging onto a computer other than deactivating the account in AD, as that will stop them logging into foldr. I'm assuming if this is possible it will be done via Group Policy. Thanks
  24. I have spent the majority of my day reading up about the Oak Island Money Pit now, and it sounds awesome tbh
  25. That sucks But what has she been in then? anything exciting?
