STOCKTOBER2! A month of prizes and sweeties from VeryPC
hallb15 replied to VeryPC's topic in Our Advertisers
Well done boys! @ninjabeaver @teklogic and @alexsanger That's me done for this half-term - no doubt I'll be checking in occasionally next week just to see if I've won anything (especially the PS4!!!) -
We don't give children their own login until year 3. Instead we give each computer in the ICT suite a number and this is stuck on the front of the PC and the keyboard. They then login with this number. e.g. PC1, PC2, etc... This is better than a generic year1, year2 style username as it allows the teacher to see what individual children are doing (via SmartSync) From year 3 we use the same naming convention as the LEA and they can then use the laptops (which are monitored via ABTutor)

I was going to say the same thing - use video for everything, its just easier.

Mine has arrived too - unfortunately it didn't go unnoticed in the office as even though it is shipped in a plain, brown carboard box, the address label says Gourmet Chocolate on it! So the chances of me getting it out the building seem pretty slim! I'll just have to eat it all now! :) Thanks Luke @Millgate!
-
I'm in! Just thinking what style to go for...
-
Fantastic! Cheers Luke! It'll go nicely with some Seabrook Chicken Karahi (developed exclusively with AKBAR'S) crisps!

Have you tried disconnecting the RJ11 connectors for the pen tray and volume control? What about connecting a different laptop to the smartboard - does it do the same thing? -

I've just done that today but when I tested it earlier, it didn't seem to have worked. I wondered if there was a delay before this kicked in so I just tried again and now it is working - yeah! -

@themightymrp did you have the issue of all LLN emails going straight to the junk folder? -

Do let us know how you get on. Our new line is being installed first week after half-term so I'll keep you posted. @wroberts Its sorted now - I never got an answer as to what they did but a call was raised with CAPITA and a few days later it started working. I've just got the junk email issue to sort now... -

Its called lunch and I just discovered these at the local Morrisons - they just might actually be the best crisps ever invented! Don't go too far back - anyone remember Apricot? -
For the most part a cheap >£10 one off ebay will suffice if all you want to know is are all 8 cables connected properly at both ends. Add a cheap tone generator and probe ~£30 and you'll be able to diagnose most common issues. It may take you a little longer to fault find with this setup, but unless you are doing this everyday, then I don't see the need for any more advanced or expensive tools.

Loving the slightly robotic box removal technique. On that theme, I think you should setup some solenoids behind each box to push them off the wall at the touch of a button! Or maybe something to do with compressed air? Shouldn't take long - I mean, how hard can it be? ...so I'll expect to see that in tomorrow's video? Perhaps the final day's wall destruction could involve pyrotechnics? The final day's wall destruction should involve pyrotechnics? The final day's wall destruction must involve pyrotechnics! -

Good to see you back Col - even if you didn't pick my joke(s) as the winner! -
We have a desktop in every classroom (some with 2) so staff laptops are not provided as a rule. However, if a staff member requests one, and SLT agree one is required then one is provided.

Yes, please. I love pizza and chocolate!
