You create a SFX Archive to replace the wallpaper on the computer (located in %ProgramFiles%/Research machines/Network Management/Desktop/*.jpg can not remeber the exact name of hand) or just change it in the Policy Settings in the RMMC for each user type. The wallpaper is Installed by RM Desktop Components, However this is an essential package as it installs other stuff too. Thanks

Hello all, Not sure if this is in the right place so apoligies if it isn't... I have a question that has been on my mind for ages and would like to know what others think. The main question is what do IT Staff (NM's etc) need devices like iPads (or equivalents) for in the School / Office environment, I can understand why "some" students may want them but personally I think they are a waste of money in that use. Finally what would you do with them as a Network Manager or Junior Technician etc.. I have thought of a few things and am drawing up a table of advantages and disadvantages and am asking for contributions. If you have one what sort of things do you use it for ?? Advantages, Ideal for Internet Surfing, Updating School Website (If possible), RDP, App Development (Skills) email updating schools FB or Twitter (If they have it) Disadvantages, Distraction, (Apps, Games, News, Photos, iMessage etc....) Limited to the iOS Family (and jailbreaking) however Win 8 support for ARM may change this ??? Nothing really special compared to a netbook etc. Thanks

Save GPO Configuration and load on another server ???
CharlieGreen replied to CharlieGreen's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ok, Thanks, However this would be my chossen way of doing it because what I am trying to do is make a bundle if you like that gets installed on a clean Win2008R2 server and automatically does everything for you, Installs all the Roles, Role Services, Features, adds the AD, sets up the AD, imports users from CSV, sets the Home Folders and Profiles adds them to the right group, adds all the shares required, set up all the GPO's.. In basic it takes a clean Working 2008R2 Server and makes it ready to use straight away with little effort needed in setting it all up. All the user does is answer a few questions at the start of the install and it does the rest automatically and they can then change it as and when needed. If you do know how to do this or anyone else does please can you help me. Ideally I would like it to run in PS or as a VBS and so would appreciate the help. Thanks. -
Save GPO Configuration and load on another server ???
CharlieGreen replied to CharlieGreen's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Sort of following on form that is there any way I can do this programatically (sp?) e.g. I run a Powershell or VBScript and it will automatically add those GPO's and make them Active and Link them to the correct groups etc. Thanks -
Hey Nick, Sorry to drag up an old thread, But was wondering if you could update the download link as it does not seem to be working here at the moment. Thanks

RM networks - the important bits
CharlieGreen replied to bondbill2k2's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Where is the "Like" button @Edu-IT, But yes overall RM networks are a piece of p**s to run when it all works and are very good if you have more important things to get on with. However obvious stuff like a good knowledge of the server OS and features is essential. But congratulations anyhow. -

Complete Create User in AD as well as Folders and Permissions
CharlieGreen posted a topic in Scripts
Hello there, I know this has been asked before but I just can not find the answer I am looking for at the moment, What I want is a VBScript or Powershell script that when run will create a User in the AD in the correct OU, Add it to the correct groups, fill in all of the required fields like Name, Username, Password, Adress, email etc and create there Profile and Work folders as well as set it to Map X:\ to there Work folder and finally set the permissions on those folders so only that user and Administrators can access that work. Does anybody have a full working solution to that or can point me in the right direction. P.S. I dont mind having to edit the script each time for a different user. Thanks all, Charlie -

Hello, I'm fairly new to VB and have been trying to make a few scripts and would really appreciate some help here please. For the first script I have done no work on yet and do not know what to do so if anyone can make it or help me make it, it would be appreciated, What I want it do is to create 2 partitions on Disk0 and assign them a specified drive letter and format them to NTFS.....BUT... what I would like it do is to use a percentage of the free space e.g. Partition1 would use 60% and be Drive D:\ and Partition 2 would use 40% and be Drive E:\, if you sort of understand. The next script is a long script that writes to a text file and it reboots in the middle however how do I get it so that when it reboots, it a) opens back up that logfile and can write to it .... and b) go to where is left off Also when using diskpart how do you get it to add the disks and format them as well ?? Thanks in advance

Adding new drivers to default build disk - CC4
CharlieGreen replied to Serenastra's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I belive you have to make a new build disk. That is how I have done it, in the past -
Something that may not apply to you but did not see it mentioned, No Food and Drinks in the IT Rooms or by the PC's and nobody in the IT Rooms at Breaks or Lunch without a teacher present or explicit permission. There 2 we have here but may not apply to you.

What version of the RMC3IEngine do you have (My knowledge of CC3 is rusty) Try uninstallng it on the server and reinstalling and the same for the clients affected, Otherwise log a Support Call with RM as they WILL know or at least will help you fix it, Otherwise restore from a backup that worked !!
