I cannot explain to you how much i hate this thing. I think what frustrates me is im not quite sure what does what... I've been in this flat 5 years and in that time its had both of its heat filament things replaced. Today trick seems to be have not have heated up the water properly overnight then and when we try, what i call the "boost", it gives me some mildly warm water. It also seems to be constantly running water (not leaking) and that's all been counted on my Water Meter... You're a clever bunch, does that mean anything to anyone. Yes i'm going to call the landlord but its nice to have a clue whats wrong...

See, i like this. This pleases me... Recently a group called Little Miss Geek appeared (still think i should receive royalties) discussing Women in the tech/science world and released a book, which i've yet to read but flicking through there has been a few interesting bits, like a childs drawing of someone that works in IT! I follow them on Twitter but have started to get very annoyed and slightly offended. They seem to have a thing about "Pink gadgets". Constantly berating any manufacturer or company that dares to use it in a add or a product. Saying that companies just "pink up" their older products and sell them to us poor females. Erm, i'm pretty sure anyone that can read would be able to compare the hardware themselves and make a decision. Even if it means nothing to someone you can see that one has this but the other has this. You know what? I quite like having something a bit different from the classic grey or black thanks ladies... I'm all for a bit of feminism but yeesh, no wonder a lot of young girls think its all about bra burning and not shaving....

No, not our Witch! Popped to the National Computer Museum yesterday. Instantly start smiling as soon as i enter. I love the noise! Why cant computers sound like that these days (ok, yeah i know). Immediately approached by uber geeks who passionately explain every bit of kit in there. After convincing them that neither me or my fella were programmers and that i just do a bit of IT and just wanted to have a look we wondered over to WITCH. (Harwell Dekatron Computer) It's a thing of beauty. I stood and watched whilst they got her restarted. It's pretty mind blowing. It was dismantled and forgotten about because the Birmingham museum couldn't get it to work. My fella was pretty excited as he got to use the control that lets you run the program through step by step. It's got one bug which apparently the guy who rebuilt it is currently at home trying to figure out. The last surviving original builder occasionally pops in to see if he can help. Then @SYSMAN_MK happened..

Haha! I think that's more cus i talk utter rubbish and amuse people. If my rep worked in real life, my plans of world domination wouldn't be just plans..

Unless i'm missing something, i don't think that's sexist. Just an observation. Also means i'm not going to get very far lol

How long have you been working in IT? Around 8 years on and off.... Is this your first, second, third, etc career? I started working at a charity, went into Nurse training but left that to go back into IT...so first i suppose. What other jobs / roles have you done previously? As above, Student nurse was my only other big role. Everything else was IT based. How many interviews did it take to get your first job in IT? My first "proper" job as a tech in IT was just one, but i didn't get the job first time around, but the person who originally got it walked out. (i soon learnt why!!) Have you ever felt that being female is a help or a hindrance to gaining a job in IT? Hmm...can never say its been a hindrance. Yes i've had people come in to quote for work, look me up and down and look around for who i was with but this may also be down to how young i look! The "you don't get many women in IT" statement does get a bit boring though. Can't say i've been aware that being a female has helped me, but i'm sure if i smile sweetly it helps. If you were considering IT (or other engineering / programming careers) whilst at school what support did you receive? None really. I used to mention wanting to be an IT tech at my careers meetings but they were no help. When i asked for something IT related for Work Experience...i got sent to a local library.... Happy to be quoted though i doubt i've said anything interesting enough

What? no one wants to point out something obvious that i've done\not done\missed?! Just been toying with the idea that 3 of the printers had a firmware upgrade during the toner fiasco but then there is a printer in the "doesn't print green" list that hasn't had its firmware touched....

My bro would have had that if it had been around when we were kids....how awesome.

Ok, so staff are trying to print reports using Target Tracker. The report has some colour coding in it. We seem to be having an issue with the green. Some printers are printing the green and some are ignoring it completely. The printers are installed on a server and then dished out via a script, i've compared the drivers in the properties of a working printer and a non working and they are the same. The printers print green otherwise quite happily...any thoughts?
