You should be able to achieve satisfactory isolation without VLANs*: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/23352709241495-UniFi-Switches-and-Access-Control-Lists-ACLs You can also configure client isolation at the AP: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/23948850278295-Best-Practices-Guest-WiFi#:~:text=UniFi%20allows%20you%20to%20create,maintaining%20control%20over%20your%20network. This isn't like the old-fashioned Unifi approach of just putting the guest network on a separate subnet. Ubiquiti Unifi is a pretty full featured SDN platform now. *Note: Cyber Essentials doesn't recognise this method of isolation - yet

I call Chris Whitty and ask him to do a PowerPoint. Too soon?

It's the kind of scenario that would make me want to write to the local paper, your MP, Ofsted, Private Eye. I would copy in the chair of governors for courtesy - if they understand their responsibilities, they should make it a resigning matter. But in the end I'd probably just leave. You're wasting your time and talent. The kids don't deserve it, but leadership deserve for it all to go massively wrong if they're that incompetent.

Dell house here too. Failure rate seems low to me, but equally importantly, the next day on site support is excellent. Sign up for a Dell Premier account - you should be able to find an account manager for education in your region. We're now getting 5 year warranties on Optiplex desktops for about the same price as we were paying for equivalent models with a three year warranty a couple of years ago.

It was an unusual decision to supply convertor cables especially as it's a more expensive option - but TBH we don't usually receive monitor cables with PCs. Cables usually come with the monitors. Unless the cable type was specified in the order, I'd say you're pretty stuck with what you've got. For the price of the cables it's not worth the argument.

Maybe they haven't actually thought of the third yet - it's just optimism...

Voice amplifier for teacher in classroom
jmak replied to BlueSkies's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I had a free trial of one of these after speaking to them at BETT. At the time we had a teacher who was having voice problems and they thought it was great. Unfortunately it was too expensive for us at the time - although an OT recommendation might have sold it. I thought that compared to the cost of supply teacher cover for the repeated laryngitis absences it looked excellent value... -

Does anyone use Nextcloud? SharePoint or Google Drive work really well for a significant subset of our users, but now that storage isn't unlimited, we can't allocate the quotas with enough granularity. Even if we paid for more storage, it wouldn't go to the users we want it to. Nextcloud looks like it gives the local sync options and we could sort the storage the way we want to.
