4 x 23" philips screens they are quite nice!

Then I think you're covered just remember that the 2920 needs the extra module card in the back of it to do 10Gb but chat to Luke @Millgate and he'll be able to help you out with pricing etc.
-
If your looking at going with 10Gb backone then take a look at the HP 2920 switch series we have just bought two and they are very nice! With your 5406 how full is it currently as the 10Gb modules only have 8 ports on them so if you want all of those 20 runs on 10Gb you'll be looking at 3 modules and then use whats left for everything else?

Network managers and organisation of IT support staff
mdench replied to tj2419's topic in How do you do....it?
We are a team of 4 with me and the Network Manager in our office and 2 techs running a helpdesk down in the library. We use a helpdesk to keep track of tickets which are assigned to us if the techs can't fix the issue. Our central phone number rings all of our phones but generally the helpdesk guys get there first. Leaving me and the network manager to get on with ensuring the network is working and developing various parts of it -
Get in touch with Luke ( @Millgate ) we have used them for a while now for purchasing and the support is great! Always quick to get pricing, pick up on any details I have overlooked and generally the kit is sat in reception before I arrive the next day! I have spoken to various people in Millgate to do with various projects, servers, BYOD, etc and the support is flawless throughout. So get in touch with him and see what services you need looking after and I'm sure they will look after you

Setup the rest of our backups from our linux server onto our new backup server as the raid card decided it had, had enough on Monday morning. Got a guy from Netgear coming to look at WiFi, set up the rest of our offsite backup and eat the large bag of doritos sat on my desk!

Yeah have been using that but like i said has been causing endless problems recently....

We generally use Windows built in Windows Server Backup to create bare metal and system state backups of our windows server how ever recently its gone a bit er... rubbish? Keeps failing jobs or crashing. Does anyone use anything different preferably a free open source solution? Looking to backup the likes of domain controllers, print server, SIMS, web application servers. Cheers

If you have a digital lighting desk (double check the name and I'll take a look) then you could buy a bunch of LED Parcans, enough DMX to connect each light into a chain back to the desk and you would need a way of providing 13amp sockets. to the lights. Cost wise it depends on if you have a desk that you can use the lights with enough channels, what kind of lights do you want? Do you want just static lights or you could go for some moving LED wash GLP Impression 120 or similar that way you don't really have to worry about re rigging each time they want a light moved just program it to point in a different direction. I would still keep some generic theatre lamps as sometimes LEDs can be too harsh and the theatre lamps give the scenes a much warmer look.

This personally makes me sad

If you have windows file servers look under file server settings for file screening. can either be set to block or allow and alert. So when they save exe's, flash files etc in their area it will email you and then you can take a look. As for anything currently on your servers just do a directory search for exes and remove anything there and then file screening will pick up anything after that.

Smart 6065 mirrored display not working properly
mdench replied to mdench's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Thanks for this I was hoping to get away with not having to get additional GFX cards. I noticed the freeze image thing the other day when I had play with it.... most annoying!. Our staff seem to like them as we've had 3 of the E70 models before hand which are great with their multiple inputs for HDMI, VGA etc so connectivity wasn't an issue and it did come with a remote with the freeze function! Just a shame they discontinued it for the 6065 -

Smart 6065 mirrored display not working properly
mdench replied to mdench's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
anyone? -
We have recently purchased one of the new Smart 6065 which only has HDMI input. We run out classroom pcs normally with a tower connected to a screen and projector via a USB powered VGA splitter which works fine. We bout a VGA to HDMI converter assuming that this would work, which it does sort of... So we have the desktop connected via the VGA splitter with the desktop screen attached, we then have this VGA -> HDMI adapater connected to the splitter to connect the screen. If the pc is already started and you connect the adapter to the splitter the smart screen mirrors the input at the same resolution as the screen and works fine. If you then reboot the PC it only displays on the smart screen as windows has detected a VGA to HDMI adapter connected through the splitter and then outputs at 1080p which is above what the desktop monitor can display. If you drop the resolution down to say 800 x 600 the desktop monitor still won't display anything. So my question do you see anything wrong with the way we have it setup / how do you guys connect up your Smart Screens via HDMI if you have them?

We have papercut and BioStore here using Rioch MFD's. Try getting in touch with a company called ITS LTD UK as they do all the install work for the papercut / biostore sides of things. I think this was all combined into a contract with Ricoh when we renew our lease on copiers. You'll end up with an MFD with an attached USB biostore terminal plus a secondary biostore server running on your print server. Each of the terminals comes with a license and you'll need a license for the secondary biostore server. We have a few niggling issues at the start working out the best way to set things up but we now have 10 MFD's on site with bio metrics in various locations set up on two virtual print queues. One for the staff and another for the sixth form (just going through a trial period now) it has reduced some of our paper wastage but we still have a number of staff who print direct to the device and then forget to collect. Only way of stopping this is block direct device printing which I'm hoping they will come round to.

I have checked and they are all running with highest privileges and if you run the backup manually it works fine. It seems like a permission thing as it says Access is denied with trying to bare metal recovery the system reserved at the very beginning.
