  1. We have several servers here which are failing on their scheduled windows server backups with an error of access is denied on bare metal recovery - System reserve. But if you run the job manually it completes with no errors? All backups are set to backup to a network location. As far as I can tell we haven't changed anything recently Any one seen anything / heard of anything like this?
  2. This has certainly made my day!
  3. Just went and bought train tickets for myself and another member of staff tomorrow...... at nearly £100 I'm so glad cheque run day is tomorrow!!
  4. I have my desktop at home i7 with 32GB of ram for mucking around with VMS and a few old desktops plugged in for work on my media server / playing around with websites etc

  6. Same issue here was trying to upload some pictures to the Cool things thread. Chrome and IE on Win 7 Chrome and Firefox on Ubuntu
  7. I think would cry if I didn't have it! Ours was up for renewal this year and we decided to have a look around at Cyberoam, Lightspeed, and.... something else that I have just forgotten the name of. We have the cyberoam unit in to demo and we have online demos of lightspeed and to be honest I couldn't find something else that matched in terms of functionality and features! Cyberoam was the closest we got in terms of Firewall and Filtering in one box but Smoothwall is soo much easier to use!
  8. Now I already like the look of that! I can't see any pricing on their website though.. If you don't me asking what do you pay for it? Is it a one of cost or based on x number of users or assets?
  9. As far as I can tell from a quick look at the specs sheets for the two models the G5 models uses DDR2 where the G6 uses DDR3 so you won't be able to mix and match between the two
  10. We started trying to properly asset tag our equipment last year but it comes to a halt because we currently use the Equipment Register in FMS and well.... yeah... I'm looking for an alternative. Preferably I would like something that is Open Source to keep the cost low but if we need to pay for it then I will have to try and get it into the Budget Request. So far I have found Snipe IT - Free Open Source Asset & License Management which I really like the look of but is lacking on key feature that I would like and that is bulk actions. As we tend to replace in the region of 200 pcs each of year I would like to be able to create a category e.g PCs 2015 so that when we come to replace these in x years time you can select this one item and then bulk update the vast majority to say they have been disposed off or relocated to a new room. I'm sure there are many other features I would like but that is the main one so I'm interested to see what you guys and gals are using Cheers

  15. +1 for the casio. what model of the the casio do you have? We have XJ-M130s through out and have no problems. Did have a few XJ-A130s but we replaced those as they kept overheating
  16. Nicely designed site! Only two things I noticed was if you clicked parents you have Latest news letter listed under the parent menu on the left hand side but also on the top menu bar. Personally I would move the news letter on the main menu to the drop down under parents so it ties in with your parent menu. Which if you did would tie with my 2nd point. Your documents under the parent menu all sit to the right hand side of the menu in a pdf viewer (nice feature btw). But when you click news letter for me at least it opens up on its own taking up the width of the web page. I would try and set them up the same as it then looks consistent through your site. only minor things but looks like a very professionally designed site!
  17. Any reason you prefer big name to custom builds? We found that our custom builds are a lot cheaper do allow you to change the small components such as ram installed
  18. Are there any particular reason you ruled out a TV? We have several 70" LCD tvs dotted around the school that have been moved several times and have never had a problem with and we have two hooked to ariels if they wish to use them as TVs at any point. The tvs are a minimum of 4 years old and still going strong
  19. We have moodle installation that I try not to touch as i don't like it and it doesn't like me. I'll occasionally poke with a large stick to get something working buts about it! Annnyyyway our staff have reported that if they try to view submitted assignments when it says "View (x number) of submitted assignments" the next page says "Nothing to Display" with the alphabetical search lines above. This happens on a number of assignment upload pages. Any one got any idea of how to fix this?
  20. Check out these two KB's PaperCut KB | Restoring from backup Database Tool (db-tools)
  21. If you could that would be great!
  22. Evening! Don't suppose any one has any guidance on if / how you can move a primary biostore server? We have just finished our SIMS migration and this is one of the last things we need to move. Cheers!
