  1. possibly stupid suggestion, but try running a couple of rounds of updates on the machine. MS for some reason update lesser versions of thier software than you seem to have. I have WMP11 running on my home windows box, and it always seems to run WMP8 Updates Perhaps its not using WMP11 until it thinks you have properly updated 9. A la, .NET framework v1, v1.1, v2 and v3 running on my machine at once.
  2. I get this aswell, on my computer at home, altho it only reopens once. Quite annoying
  3. I have all from sky, Total £57 a month (split 3 ways) Phone - Freetime (free evening and weekend calls) - £10(inc line rental as sky can take the line rental off of BT) TV - 6 mixes plus sports - £37 Internet - £10 (wanted the unlimited download quota)
  4. I'm really happy with Sky. and thier tellybox offering is good too.
  5. How can you say that!!!!
  6. I think he should just call 0118 999 881 999 119 725 3
  7. you can get away with one machine and a video splitter if the screens are near each other. If they are 2 screens in the same entrance hall/ dining hall etc. then hide an old machine with a basic windows installation and your powerpoint launched at startup. And distribute to the screens using a video splitter. I find suspended ceilings are great for hiding equiptment like this, and wireless points etc
  8. It could be taking one of your network drive letters, we having this problem on staff laptops where the pen drives were taking R: for some reason

  12. we bought a load of MS intellipoint basic from Aria. They seem quite good and robust (we suffer from bored kids smashing mice)
  13. Sorry to pipe up here, But I am pretty sure that to pipe music to a captive audience you will need and MCPS/PRS licence for Internet radio. Even if it is purely internal, you are still distributing music to an audience. With the legal bit now covered. I used to be part of an internet radio station (before the PRS's ludicrous fees made it unviable) But they had some interesting software that allowed users from all over the world connect to it in pre arranged time slots and present thier own shows. This could be useful for the kids interested in media production at GCSE/6th Form http://www.cmpradio.co.uk
  14. Not a payrise, but I have walked into work today to find an extention to my temporary contract (school in closedown) for this academic year. Wouldn't mind but I have already worked here for one month of this academic year!
  15. OK STOP Having been on BT Total Broadband for 12 months I can most honestly tell you it is Sh1t. The home hub drops out many times a day and needs cycling. And the speeds gradually drop over the course of the year. I started off on 6mbps, and within a year it was on 3 Now I have switched to sky, and a nice netgear router. It is back up to 6mbps, and not been cycled once in a month!
  16. I do quite enjoy it, but as an archer, i simply watch it to pick out the mistakes! tech_guy, where in warwickshire are you?
  17. We use whatever is cheapest, but being a Christian school, we use action aid for both our toners. and toner disposal
  18. Whats the difference between NetSupport and Ranger Remote Control then? As they seem to look identical?
  19. How far south? A local building company down in cheltenham were giving away some 6 foot high server racks they had stripped out of a vodafone installation, they may still have them?
  20. Hi all, I am currently a Junior ICT Technician, working for Christ College (formerly St Benedicts Catholic College) and Kingsmead School, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. I work Mon, Wed and Fri, at Christ College, and Tues & Thurs at Kingsmead. Christ College, is a joint RC and CofE faith school to approx 650 pupils aged 11-16, currently being considered to take the position of faith academy to be built on the site of Kingsmead. Kingsmead, is a foundation comprehensive that has just come out the other end of special measures, but is still in the process of closedown (summer 2009) due to the fact that the site is needed for the new academy. Having been in the job a year now, under 2 very helpful NM's who have taken every oppurtunity to educate me, I am currently getting slight itchy feet. So hopefully a Senior Tech job will come my way in the next 12 months. Anyway, Hi all!
