  1. Michael, not saying you're wrong, as the evidence seems to support it. But Office 365 for Education is the same thing as Office 365 for Business and what apart from That would use the Azure login?
  2. Michael - Hope that's not true. Especially as the Out Of Box Experience allowed me to try to do so!
  3. I've just logged a call with RM. Lets see if they can offer a reason.
  4. I tried from home on my ADSL connection and got the same results, so I don't think its a proxy/firewall related issue.
  5. As the title suggests, I'd like to login to my Windows 10 Pro device (Surface Pro 3) with my schools Office 365 account, which I understand is possible. I have just reset the device to factory, and gone through the setup routine. When the device ask me is this device asked my who owned it, I choose company/organistation. I'm then presented with a logon screen asking for my Office 365 email address and password, but upon entering it, I get the following message "We are unable to connect at the moment. Please check your network and try again later." Do I need to set anything up on the Admin Console side of Office 365? Should it just work? Our Office 365 domain is federated with a 3rd party product called RM Unify. This allows single sign on to O365 and a bunch of other education sites. Not sure if that is a problem or not, but worth mentioning.
  6. Google!!!! Agghhhh! Now that I've got that off my chest....is anyone else struggling to get Google Cloud Print to work reliably when used in an 'Enterprise' environment? I'm having real problems with the printers intermittently not offering themselves as print destinations for my users on their ChromeBooks. Its random. One time they'll be mapped and listed for the users to access (and they work), another time they are simply not even listed as print targets. This happens on both the same logon instance and different logon instances, if the user logons off and on. I have shared 2 printers, one each for colour and mono printing. Both printers have our admin@ account set as Owners. I have then created Year group Groups in the Google Admin Console which are populated with the student users of that year group as members AND the Admin@ user as the Owner and these are added to both printers with access set to Print. We're also using a product called PrinterOn which (amongst other things) links our users Google accounts to their Follow-You printing account. While open minded, I currently don't think the problem is with this side of the printing system, as PrinterOn has nothing to do with making the printer appear on the users ChromeBook session. Google are helpful, but I just get the impression that Google Cloud Print is not yet ready for Prime Time, certainly in large, more complex environments. Anyone else had this issue?
  7. Hi all I'm not sure how to deploy the Summer 2015 upgrade via SOLUS3. When we were upgraded from SOLUS2 to SOLUS3, auto download and update was turned on. This caused a number of issues over the last few updates, and so I recently turned auto updates off. My issue is that I have never initiated a update manually in SOLUS3 and am not 100% sure of the method, or if there are any Gotchas? Help anyone?
  8. I'd like to create a new separate network for our ChromeBooks. The College uses a combination of Smoothwall and Meraki for our Wi-Fi and Internet. I have already started VLANing the switches, creating a new VLAN666 for the ChromeBooks. (The VLAN tag might give you some idea of my current thoughts on them!). With the Meraki Wi-Fi I am able to map a specific VLAN to a specific SSID, which I have done. I now need to turn my attention to Smoothwall. I have identified a spare port on the Smoohtwall box, and connected a VLANed port from our core switch to it. I'd like Smoothwall to issue IPs via DHCP in a very similar way to how our BYOD network (on VLAN13) works. Not having done this before, what are the steps I'd need to set up the Smoothwall Interface (NIC) asnd DHCP? What else would I need to set up? What order do I do things in?
  9. Hi all I'm having all kinds of odd problems with Adobe Creative Cloud applications running on our CC4.4 network. The most common two are the products working for a short period of time, then stating they need to be re-installed with an error 16. The second issue is the products working for a short period of time, then stating that there is a problem with licencing, giving an error 213:11. I can solve both issues for a short period of time by either re-assigning the applications, and/or running the Adobe licencing fix tool, but clearly something is causing these issues. Looking into the Error 16 issue, its looks like it is a permissions issue, based upon this article. https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error-cs5.html I have tried to create a permissions package with the following security entries, but I am still getting the same issue. HAs anyone had this issue and been able to resolve it?
  10. Is it possible to sign into Windows 8.1 with an Office 365 (Business/Education) account? I have tried and failed to do so. A search of Microsoft Forums seems to say that it is not possible, but the forum post was back in 2013 and I'm hoping that there may be a magic setting somewhere in the Admin Console that will allow us to do so. Basically, we have a number of Windows 8.1 HP Streams that we're trying out, and I'd like staff to be able to use their College accounts and not bother having to use (or create) a personal one.
  11. Am I right in assuming that a Windows device can connect to both a traditional Wi-Fi network to access local resources, but also have a wireless connection to a data projector? Its something I assume is possible, but have never looked into. I'd like to replace our current computer in our hall, which is wired into both the LAN and Projector, with a tablet connected via Wi-Fi to the LAN but also wirelessly to the current data projector. The projector has a HMDI connection and so would plan to buy some form of HDMI device, ala ChromeCast (but for a more traditional Windows setup). Ideally I'd like to replace the PC with something like a Surface Pro 3, or similar. All thoughts and ideas very welcome! Steve
  12. Attached (hopefully) is a screen shot of our SharePoint site collections. I have no idea is the limits (particularly the Server Resource Quota) is set right for a school of our size (1000 users). Thoughts - - - Updated - - - Attached (hopefully) is a screen shot of our SharePoint site collections. 13. Hi all We're using Office 365 which has been Federated with RM Unify. We've built a couple of SharePoint sites using RM Site Builder. As you can see, we're not using it in just a vanilla fashion, and I'm trying to see if that has anything to do with some problems we've been having recently. For the last few days/week or so, our SharePoint sites have been unreliable, often giving access error messages. Sometimes slow to open. The Admin Portal has highlighted a number of Microsoft SharePoint issues recently. My question(s) are -Has anyone else had reliability issues with Office 365 SharePoint sites in the last week or so? -If so, is this just a bad period, or is it a regular occurrence? I have to assume the former. -Can anyone recommend and school friendly (i.e. cheap) Office 365 admin courses? Thanks
  14. Hi all (A self inflicted mess) As part of a project to update our school website, a trusted 3rd party purchased the web domain 'nortoncollege.org' on our behalf when they built the site. At the time, we had no plan to utilise any email linked to this. However, now we do. I'd like to add this as a secondary email domain to our newly accessed Office 365 site which had been set up for us by the local authority, until the domain nortoncollege.n-yorks.sch.uk Our current email addresses are based upon 'nortoncollege.net' which are also Office 365 accounts, that were set up and looked after by our Learning Portal provider. Long term, this email domain needs to go away as we want to 're-brand' under the .org domain. What I want to do is >Add the nortoncollege.org domain to our LA created Office 365. >Create identical addresses under this (so where I have a [email protected] address, create a [email protected] one) >Migrate the mail boxes for each user from the .net, to the .org (Microsoft may help here?) >temporarily have forwarding between the two, while we alert people to the change. >Use the nortoncollege.org email I'm stuck at the first hurdle. What information do I need to obtain from the web design people in regards to the nortoncollege.org address in order to add this to the LA version of Office 365?
  15. We've just purchased a number of Dell 390 and 9010 PCs. One of the more annoying tasks is securing the BIOS and setting boot orders etc on all these stations. Is there a central way I can do this with a console of some kind?
  16. After a significant VMWare based network issue yesterday, the network is now back online, but we have found that our remote access is experiencing problems. We are a RM CC4.3 school with an outward facing Windows 2008r2 Remote Desktop Server. Staff can access the Remote Desktop Services Default Connection page, but where previously they could see the icon for the published WebApps and the Full Remote desktop link, the site is empty. I have tried re-publishing the WebApps, with no success. The permissions look right. Anyone have any ideas?
  17. No, the WebClient service isset to automatic and has started. I think I have 'fixed' the issue, but its a bit of a rough fix. I have removed the proxy bypass from the Internet Settings for users and instead added the LP+ URL to the Auth Bypass on our Smoothwall filtering. It doesn't seem to have re-caused the Public Vs. Private issue again, and it has fixed the Document Libraries opening in Windows Explorer. I've tested with a few SystemAdmni users and a single member of staff, but as its 3.30 on a Friday I can't find any other staff to test this with. The settings I have changed will take effect when everyone logs on on Monday. I'll test and confirm then.
  18. After some good work from RM and LP+, the origional problem is now resolved. Unfortunatly I've had to re-open the support call as the ability to open Document Libraries in Windows Explorer mode has been lost. This problem has previously been resolved via a reg frag, as by default on an RM network the WebClient service is disabled. This service is still running, but the ability to open Document Libraries in Windows Explorer mode isn't working, giving the message "Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer", even though I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise.
  19. LP+ Support I've edited my origional post as it was probably written in frustration, sorry. Agree you don't have access to our CC4 network. With a work around in place, I will continue to press RM for a solution linked to GP settings and will call LP+ support again on Tuesday.
  20. OK, so, Using Firefox on a station doesn't have the same issues. I have my temporary workaround. Now just to work out whats happening!
  21. (My first proper post, yey!) CC4 + LPPLUS4 + Office 2010: Issues editing Office Documents We are using a RM CC4.3 network, with workstations running Windows 7 SP1, IE9 & Office 2010 SP1 Pro. We also use LPPLUS as our Learning Portal provider. Over Easter they upgraded from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, moving from LP+3 to LP+4. Ever since that migration my staff have been having problems editing any Office Documents that have been uploaded to Document Libraries, hosted on LP+4. A user can logon as either a Private or Public logon. When any user (student/student/systemadmin) logs on as a Private logon and tries to edit a Office Document by selecting EDIT IN MICROSFT WORD(or EXCEL), the document always opens in read only mode and the Document can't be edited. The problem only occurs on the network, doing the same on a home computer running the same software does not cause the issue. Therefore it must be related to GPO settings. RM are looking into it and after a Google search brought up the option of installing a MS update KB907306 we thought we had a solution as this seemed to fix the problem on stations it was installed to. However, the problem has returned on stations previously working and nothing has really altered on the stations to cause this that we can tell. No updates, nothing. Any ideas? Anyone come across this issue?
