Hi All, Our current set of students seem to think its their right to press the emergency override button on the security doors. We have Paxton door locks and cards. Do any schools have a solution/work around to avoid this happening? I know disciplining the students should be the answer, but that doesn't seem to be the answer here. I know they have to be in a visible place (too visible), and we already have the plastic covers you need to lift then press to try and discourage, but doesn't discourage enough. Anyone with any advice please feel free to send, we are at the point of trying anything, without disabling the buttons altogether of course...

Clothes shouldn't be pigeon holed to seasons... I mean people wear football tops in the off season... haha

Hi there, May i ask if you had a Fail safe Profile creation method as i have followed two in 1709 and it seems to work, but when we login the user doesn't get the start menu. We currently have roaming profiles and want to go to a mandatory roaming profile for all users but in our test machines it just wont load the start menu... i must be missing something somewhere, which is why i am wondering what the best creation process is.

I am currently trying to get this script to work at my place but with no luck. Do you already have SSO setup? i think that's where i am having the problem.

Just bumping this as we got it working then all of a sudden today it has gone off... AGAIN... Is there something we could be doing wrong? it seems to keep losing settings....

We have ran these since the summer with no major problems until a new member of staff said the kids can take the test more than once on the same day, is this correct? We read somewhere that each assessment had to have one calendar day between them. Saying that when I set them up it does give me the option of how many resits they are allowed, so would this teacher be right?

Hi All, and thanks in advance. Does anyone know of a good wordpress theme that allows you to move around what's in the header easily? We have (well management) a marketing company designing the website in Photoshop and I have to make it a website, I have very basic knowledge of wordpress so assumed I could find a theme that allows me to move around how it displays things easily. I think I am ok with manipulating how the pages look below the header, just the headers all seem to be hard to work with. I have searched over a day for a theme but just not found one that can do what we want yet, so thought/hoped/prayed someone else has come across this. Thank you for your help, especially on a Saturday... I have fixed it. There were rogue svchost.exe services running.. so I stopped them all and then then the add new hardware wizard kicked into like and installed the virtual adapter with HCP enabled. Set a static IP address and hey presto..!!

never thought to look there... but no they aren't, didn't think they were. I think I have narrowed it down to the DCHP client service. I cant stop it or disable it.... need to edit registry for it, just don't know where.. will look..

I cant access the roles on the server as it wont load into safemode and when I select roles it states its loading roles and sits for over an hour

Hi All, Not sure if this should be in Server 2008 forum or Server 2012, move if need be. We had a broken hard drive in a server running Hyper-V2012. The drive was the D drive and not the c drive so we replaced it and restored the virtual servers data to the replaced drive and thought we had nothing better to do that start up the virtual servers..... Well, the first two servers came on with no problems other than we had to reset their IP address details as they had gone back to DHCP. These two servers were running Server 2012 r2 and are now merrily working away. The third server, our SIM's server, was still running server 2008 r2. It came back online but it will not recognise a network card. If I add a legacy adaptor in its virtual settings it appears on the machine as an Ethernet adapter with an exclamation mark. If you update the driver it comes up with a code 1 error and will not let it run. If I add a network card to the virtual settings it appears as an unknown device, but I get the same error when I try to update its driver, it picks it up as a network card, but just wont run. On the hyperv server I have tried un-teaming the network cards and assigning them individually and teamed (they were teamed originally, as the hyper v server never went down just the virtual machines stored on the broke drive). So, any ideas? I have seen bits on the internet that have the same issue but they re-installed the server, I want to avoid this as there's lots of little connectors on the server and would have to get the different firms in to re-install these and will take time... A lot say its due to the network cards dhcp/ip settings that get mixed during the restore of the virtual machine, if anyone has any ideas how to reset these it would be great... I have tried restoring it to a different server and get the same result. any help greatly appreciated, and if anyone has a SIM's server install guide that would be great as starting to setup a new server just in-case I cant get the original one working.

Hi All, Our webserver broke and after a reinstall HAP hasn't worked properly. I restored the files to our webserver running server 2012 r2 and IIS 8. I followed the install instructions and now I can access the room booking. I can login externally and see my files, I cannot download them though... I assume its a permissions things I am missing, but as soon as I click download I get a new window open with Error: Unauthorised Access You have attempted to access a restricted resource So close, yet so far, has anyone got any ideas? If its been an install with Solus it often doesn't install the BDE, try resending the install. I had that issue but cant remember if it was with the same error code.

I think you are right to assume the issue lies in Nova-T. You have to make sure the right teacher's are assigned in the classes section/button of Nova-T. if you single click on the class name within the box it will show you who is assigned as the main supervisor. We had a lot of issues with the wrong teacher being assigned. update all the classes then re-import the timetable. Before doing this it maybe worth running update course memberships from TOOLS\ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT\COURSEMANAGER. This can be a quick fix, or even in the same menu there's an apply timetable. When we had issues with the wrong classes in COVER this fixed that...

We have a standard letter that the admin team run every week. This then lists all the instances that week. if you wanted you could just get them to run it every night at the end of school. Sorry its still not automatic, but works as a get by....

Hi, Last April we converted our physical server to a virtual one, but didn't change any of the software. We thought, lets just see if it works and if it does then setup a new virtual server and copy the database. As the person said earlier.... less changes at a time means easier to diagnose any errors if they occur. Our virtual has been working fine and was just copied with Microsoft's free physical to virtual software... Now this summer its new server 2012 r2 and SQL 2012.......

We added a twilight period but didnt want it to affect the timetabling process... So we added an extra period to the day, Then set its type as User 1. This stopped the automated scheduling from placing lessons in these sessions. Then added a new subject, i.e table tennis club Went to alternative curriculum, added a new one with tt as the subject. We then de-selected all the lessons apart from the afterschool session, assigned a room and teacher and then uploaded the timetable to sims. Then we just assigned the lesson indiviually to the students by slecting there student curriculum then adding activity. Works fine. If you need more advice just message.

Hi All, This is totally out of my levels of understanding so i apologise if this is confusing... I have been asked to look into a setup that students can use to film themselves then edit there videos in wierd and wonderful ways. They said they wanted a video camera to film green screen and then change backgrounds and overlay things. My understanding is, Any camera can be used to film someone with a green (or just a solid colour behind them). Then the software does all the necessary changes. Am i correct or is there certain camera's better than others? Does anyone have such facilities that they could point me in the right direction? Thnaks in advance.
