  1. whoops my mistake 11MB's sorry kinda big difference....
  2. The wireless link i have been told is a proxim 11mbp link and is very stable. The county used to use it for internet provision for the site. There will be a router I am told at that end to connect us together. Our AD level is at the Enterprise i would imagine but can check when i get in on monday..
  3. Hi been reading the articles one 2 domains on 1 lan and windows domains 1 or 2 and still couldn't find the information I was after. We are a high school and are combining with our middle school (3 tier system up north) and we want the teachers who work across both sites to still have the single sign on benefts we have got here. We will have a wireless link between the two sites and this will carry data aswell as the Voip for the phones. On the middle site we have been told to setup a sub domain and this will help stop broadcasting over the network and should make things easier... I kinda agree with this but have no knowledge of setting up sub domains or there benefits. So, Is this the best solution and does anyone know of an idiots guide for adding a sub domain to our existing network.. i have been bamboozling myself reading up on this and just need a simplified view. I take it we create a new sub domain in active directory sites and then setup all the services for this domain.. this domain will have a sever there to process logons locally. i take it we need a new ip range, and i take it a new domain name ie newsite.domain.local or have i read this wrong... any advice would be terrific and as i said an idiots guide even better... Thanks in advance
  4. No sure if this is the correct forum but if not feel free to move it administrators. I have been looking at zondle.com and think it may be useful for other schools. The website provides lots of educational games you can download and embed in your vle for those days when staff want kids to "just play". You can also sign up as a school and use it at a teaching resource just thought a few people might like it
  5. Hi Sysman, You still pimping badges? we moked one upfor a local footie team but looks nothing compared to yours here.. If so could you pimp ours. Could we keep the shield type shape as a base. Thanks
  6. That is true, Capita's pricing is varied... we pay two different prices for lesson monitor due to covering a middle school and a high school. (were still 3 tier this far north as we have been forgotten).. SIM's is locked down quite a bit and as i stated can do far less than CMIS, but provides enough of what we want and the new SIM's Discover will add some very useful features for us.
  7. SIM's has a learning gateway which is not that teacher friendly to be honest. If you use moodle for your VLE there are alot of suppliers who provide an E-Portal type web frontend. We are currently looking at a webanywhere product and it looks very good and they can give you a demo of how it integrates with SIM's. We moved from CMIS to SIM's this time last year and although i still think CMIS does alot more.... SIM's does what we want efficiently and taking up less of my time.... Well apart from the options part of CMIS, no that was an outstanding piece of software... If there are any CMIS people here look at providing that as a standalone piece of software...!!!!
