  1. I'll tell you what, we'll give one entry for saying "hi" and one for following on Twitter
  2. Well firstly I’d suggest looking at a colocation facility to get around the power issues, a hosting facility should have multiple redundancies in place, this would be the first place to start looking at potential improvements. An alternative may be to install small (cheap) local Domain controllers on each site to provide local print, active directory authentication and file shares, these could be staging points for DFS system to transfer data to the “host servers”. This would work in one of two ways, the host servers could replicate data down to the local servers, and in the event of an outage local users use the local data stores for replicated data, or the local sites use the local servers for the main bulk of work which is then replicated back to the hosted platform. Active directory authentication could be distributed to the local DC’s allowing local logons if the datacentre fails. Two initial lines to progress here, its more than likely the datacentre would be the best and easiest place to start at as the infrastructure is already in place. Luke

  13. Good question - the school are covered with an insurance built into the cost of the iPad. The parents each sign a user agreement stating that the iPad isn't theirs until they pay for it in full so if they sell it on and stop paying, we report it as stolen. The school wouldn't have to do anything
  14. I couldn't believe this either but you have to be careful as there as a lot of schemes out there and not all of them all good value. We offer a BYOD solution like this where parents can pay us monthly for a tablet for the kids to use in school. With ours though: It's not just iPads, it can be any tablet that the school choose The payment terms can be whatever the parents want. EG 1,2 or 3 years The child owns the tablet at the end of the term 0% interest In our prices, we includes a rugged case, 3 years warranty and 3 years insurance which covers accidental damage The repairs are all done by ourselves in our own repair centre. We offer training days for staff FOC We offer the school cashback etc It's a very good solution and it seems to be the way that a lot of schools are going. We're showing this on our Bett stand (F124) with a demo of the portal etc. Let me know if you have any questions or you'd like a demo or quote Luke
  15. I'll ask around for you but with these things being so cheap to buy new, they aren't likely to have any resale value It's generally high HP & Cisco kit that holds it's value.
  16. Thanks Yes, we can sometimes buy old kit (depending on what it is). Unfortunately though, this doesn't really have any value. I'd recommend getting someone to dispose of it FOC for you. I can arrange this if you wish? Luke

  25. We used to sell them but with the cost of the new iPad 2s, it's not worth it anymore. We got them with broken screens etc and by the time we replaced the broken parts, it's pretty much the same price as a new one
