Hi, I have an RM CC3 network. Yesterday, and for no apperent reason when the teacher tried to run Active Studio2 from the programme set they received the following error. "Error1706. No valid source could be found for product Activstudio2 Professional Edition. The window installer cannot continue" This has occurred on at least 5 PC's on the network even though the actual install was performed locally. I suspect some sort of update has caused this issue. Has anyone seen this error? and how did you resolve it? Thanks for any help offered.

Here is my recommendation for software. the benefit of this one is you can use a variety of camera's as it supports many camera's currently on the market. I am currently using y-cam and axis. Blue Iris - Home It's very inexpensive and it works although with some limitations.

Having searched previous threads about possible re-design of classrooms, I am interested in recent schools who may have implemented this. I have had a quick look at ISIS, ITBenching & Innomensa as possible suppliers/contractors. What I am really interested in is an idea of costs for an approx 22 pc suite. Anybody out there who can offer me a best guestimate of cost would be appreciated along with any other suppliers (You can include PC/Electric/data costs etc). I have quite a substantial budget but you never know if it is enough so that is why I interested in costs and suppliers. Thanks in advance.

Have been using "google for education" here for the last 8 months for staff use only. Primarily, using the email service and some shared calendars. The staff seem to like it and it is now the primary method of communication for staff in school. As the sys admin you get a dashboard that allows you to control your domain, user accounts bulk upload etc etc. A big pro is cost "free!!" It started off as a trial but the school has decided to stay with it. Our students remain using rm easymail. We have found it to be extremely reliable, very easy to use and have even managed to persuade tech phobia members of staff to use it. Basically, if you use gmail you will be aware of what it can do. The calendars, can be shared and you have control of permissions for your calendar read, write view etc. Not explored all it's potential but it works and is realiable!!

Kylie, you are right. If our county council insists on pushing through JE our HT and many others in Staffordshire are considering moving to Foundation Status. Broc, you are also correct in that LA's cannot "claw back" any cost savings that are made within schools through the JE process!!

Myself and my techies set up the Save Our Salary site the day after the letters were released on the 10 Nov 06 informing us of the proposed pay changes under JE. I am breathing a sigh of relief as my proposed cut was just under £7000. I am more confident that in schools with the backing of the headteacher & Governors any new proposals will reflect more in the skills and the role we fulfill in providing support to staff and students!! with the end result of achieving their aims.

Hi, I am school based in Staffordshire. Ask any IT member of staff in this county and you will get a very angry response!! We were all "shafted" and I men "shafted". Pay drops of 3,4,5,6,7k were recomended during the JE process, almost all IT staff were recommmend for pay cuts. Be very wary !! It has scared the hell out of many in this county. Fortunately, today (17 Jan 07) the current proposals were rejected by the controlling labour group. We await the next set of proposals.
