If you're running it from /etc/crontab or /etc/cron.d, you can specify a username to run your code. Try it as a username, rather than root. e.g. 30 2 * * * some_username /opt/letsencrypt/letsencrypt-auto renew >> /var/log/le-renew.log

I took some time to learn how to use WinDbg and it's paid dividends many times over with problems like this. Windbg looks horrendous at first, but it's incredibly powerful and useful. These things are no accident. People tend to choose the middle option as a compromise. They've convinced themselves that, although it's a bit more expensive that the bargain-basement option, it has better utility and not that much more expensive. They're also happy that they've justified not shelling out of the top tier option as it's normally a lot more expensive and viewed as an unnecessary luxury. I'd quibble over that statement. The tobacco industry itself knew that smoking is harmful as early as the 1950s, and actively suppressed its own documentation that concluded this. Watched Sicario last night on Netflix. Outstanding. The plot draws in an FBI officer to lend legitimacy to illegal cross-border government activities. She soon finds herself out of her depth in a world where nothing is what it seems. The trailer makes it look like like just another dumb action move, but it's not. Well worth a watch.

Pretty much agree with that. The characters were zero-dimensional. It had lots of action, if that's your bag. I recently caught "The Fundamentals of Caring" on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of very black humour. I didn't think I'd like it, but I loved it.

They describe themselves as highly sensitive, so they could make $1m by winning the James Randi challenge. All that remains is the ability to show that their sensitivity is real. This should be easy if their claim is true.
