Another fan of Aeropress here. Very simple, easy to clean and great coffee. Only slight drawback is the lack of crema (which doesn't survive through the filter), but other than that, a great gadget. As for the environment, every time you use an Aeropress a kitten is saved. This has been proven in many studies.

The traditional Victorian design of Brighton pier has the usual attractions, and a walk on the pier is a 'must do'. It's a traditional pier, with deck chairs and and slot machines. There is a restaurant on the pier, but I haven't tried that. Overall, 4/5.

Thread drift can be engaging and useful, up to a point. However, when two (or more) parties engage in simultaneous discussions about different (off-)topics, a flat thread can become very difficult to follow as the posts alternate between topics. Trees would solve this problem.

A fair test would be to compare a Windows 10 install with a *fresh* install of 7. Widows rot is still here. This doesn't address the OP's question though - he's re-installed with a fresh OS but the machines are still slow. It's possible that the disks are past their best; re-reads and jitters can slow things down even through the disk still works. The grey, trendy documents probably look sublime in the designer's studio, but in the real world there are so many variables - as I can see from the replies - that the viewers experience is very inconsistent. Well, mine is at any rate.

Admittedly, it's better full screen than a smallish window which I originally used. However, it's a strain on my screen in my lighting. I wish that they'd used black text. No excuses, it should be more legible.

The rule of thumb (which is reasonable in most cases) is to allow the OS 2 or 3 GB of ram for itself. Folks, Just so that we don't cover old ground, the memory leak fault is quite well defined - it's a failure to release memory on the client side (probably a mistake in the C# destructor) and tweaking the database or server won't help. Unfortunately, the original topic of this thread has morphed into to a discussion about a memory leak - quite a different fault. An accidental hijack. Oh well. @Esteban_Child_of_the_Sun - that's interesting. My call is still open, and I look forward to its birthday.

@kennysarmy It's a real problem caused by objects not being freed by garbage collection. SIMS has memory leaks. I've got a call open with Capita about this. None of the proposed solutions that concern the database will have any effect on a client memory leak. It's a complete waste of time. Exhibit A m'lud. I wrote this in December 2015, so I wouldn't hold your breath. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/158982-database-errors-slow-performance-3.html#post1403203 I must say that I made a mistake at the end of that post. The GC does run (of course!), but the objects created by SIMS (especially form objects) are promoted through Gen0 > Gen1 > Gen2 which implies that the objects on the heap are rooted and are thus promoted through the generations. You can prove that using Windbg. I absolutely guarantee that if you attach Windbg to your crashed Pulsar process, you will see thousands of rooted objects in your Generation 2 heap. If you pick one of these objects and run a !gcroot on it, you will see that it's pinned SIMS object and it will never be released by a garbage collection. A classic example is finding rooted form controls for forms that closed ages ago. The only workaround is to wait for it to crash and restart SIMS. By the way, adding more memory won't help. The maximum heap size for 32 bit Windows is about 1.6GB. Adding RAM won't help as it's an OS limitation. When you run out of heap memory, that's the end of that.
