Disconnect the hard drive and try the PSU - no risk to data, and it might work... Otherwise, transferring to a refurb XP PC would be the best option
-
May well be the PSU, in a previous job at a computer repair shop in the early 2000s we'd have half a dozen to do every time there was a thunderstorm. Worth trying (assuming you can still buy one with the right connectors!)

British Museum hit by alleged IT attack by ex-worker

"We can't let you in, sir" "But dammit, I'm an Edugeeker!" "We've been expecting you, right this way..." -

Ghost in the machine? -
If you run the "user list" report as a CSV, the Department is a column there so you will be able to sort/search as required. (had to do the above to find someone who was "finance" rather than "Finance" as it's case sensitive and was showing one user separately!)

Made that typo too many times, in the end I set up an autocorrect rule to change it! -

Is "coomonplace" a deliberate typo here? -

All the Homebase stores near me have already closed, last time I went there was only because what I wanted was on sale, so cheaper than wickes

My name is Andrew and I am a workaholic….
smurfomatic replied to AJWhite1970's topic in General Chat
Thanks Andrew for posting this. Hope you recover fully and we all learn that work is a long way down the priority list! As some of you will know, my former boss died in 2021 from a brain tumour. While it was not directly work related, the stresses he was under masked the early symptoms (such as personality changes) that would normally have been an indicator of something wrong. Since changing work enviroments two years ago, I've joined a brilliant team that does tell you to go home when you need to be told - even if my boss is the worst culprit for this! Anything that can't be sorted can wait, especially if you have something planned for that evening. -

You cannot be serious? Wimbledon abolishes line judges after 147 years
smurfomatic replied to 6Foot2's topic in Other Stuff
I recall a few years back, a male player got disqualified from the Queens Club final for hitting out in anger and injuring a line judge. -

Not at all, they'll have to replace all the line judges with highly paid IT support staff! -
UK's first 'teacherless' AI classroom set to open in London
smurfomatic replied to jthompson's topic in IT News
A "teacherless" classroom, with three adults to 20 children? At least one of which is a former teacher, so presumably not on minimum wage... Also, just had this article appear on Twitter: AI worse than humans in every way at summarising information, government trial finds -

Should ask if you can have half a dozen of them, take them to the supermarket and tell everyone you get one for every wife/husband/partner... -
First day back, what has, or is, going to break?
smurfomatic replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Aah, I remember those days! Summer lets, each week a different group. Equipment would get moved be group 1, then again by group 2, and so on...fun and games trying to find where everything ended up -
At Silverstone today for the Festival. There was about half an hour (in total) when it didn't rain. Yesterday was fine, tomorrow's forecast is fine. I only had a ticket for today...

August 2024 bank holiday weekend - What are you up to?
smurfomatic replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Went ages ago (when it was still called the Classic) and did the Retro Run, hoping to make the most of the day out even if it's a bit on the damp side... -

smurfomatic replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Off to Silverstone tomorrow, my kitcar is joining some bigger (and much more expensive!) cars on a car club stand at the festival. https://www.silverstone.co.uk/events/silverstone-festival Weather looks miserable for tomorrow unfortunately, which is a shame. -
We had a conversation at work a few days ago about reasons you can get fired. I said I was once accused of gross misconduct, but after checking they could only find 143 counts of misconduct. *(then I had to explain to one person what a "gross" was)

Remember - violence is never the answer. Unless the question is "what do you call a fence made out of violins?"

Is that 50g including or excluding packaging though?
-
Also, the Snickers bars - do they mean the standard size ones, the smaller ones in a multipack, or the little ones in a box of Celebrations?
