  1. Has anyone solved this ? I have added the folder for lanschool to the on access scan windows exclusions, but this hasnt work im still get the web protection error. any ideas?
  2. Students gain access to C where they change the ease of access exe to the cmd exe. When they boot the machine they can then use the ease of access to actually open a command prompt and because no user has no logged on it has like system level rights and they can do lots of nasty things.
  3. All you lovely people out there and no bodies got a Scooby ? (that's Scooby doo - clue, for people who don't do rhyming slang).
  4. If the permissions were incorrect it would not create the recent items on the server per machine! Also there is enough space.
  5. Hi All, Hope someone can help me. I have a very strange issue going on here We have redirected profiles to a server location and recent documents/places enabled. The recent document info is stored in %username%\roaming\Microsoft\windows\recent items When I log onto computer 1, the list is empty, so I start looking at documents etc. The documents and folders appear fine in their relevant lists. When I log onto a computer 2 and look at the recent documents/places they are also empty. If I start looking around the list starts to populate. If I now return to computer 1 it still only has the documents and places I looked at on that machine. So you would think its saving it locally. However if I right click and look at the properties of recent items its definitely pointing to the user profile area on the server and so is computer 2. Also if I right click the recent items and click send to zip. It creates a zip file on the desktop. If I look in the zip file it contains both the information from 1 and 2. So they are both looking at the right location yet they will only see their own data !! ? Anyone like to enlighten me to what might be going on and how it maybe resolved? Thanks

  8. Hi All, I have an issue where users back button becomes grey out in internet explorer 11. This doesn't happen in chrome and the computer has all the updates installed. resetting defaults doesn't do it, and I think it has a connection to the bing search suggestions. If you turn that off it comes back for a short time, then greys out again. If I give the user local admin rights then it solves the issues (not a possible fix). After reading various online forums it appears to be quite a problem but wondering if anyone has managed to solve it in a half decent way other than rolling back to IE 10 or switching to chrome. Was hoping for some reg edit/permission change? Any ideas?

  10. Yeah I managed to change the tags and it works ok now.... Is there a command for like or something. Would like to have maybe 9 of these small boxes to a page... Ive managed to kinda do it with columns but would like to make it more tidy with a next record or record next tag if there is one?
  11. Yeah I was, I wanted to include images of the students in the report. However I thought RTF (Rich Text Format) didn't handle images, hence the name, but I was wrong. In the end I managed to get the report kinda working however I have issues with the fields now. I was pulling through some assessment data. In the report I was filter by aspect name then having the result, then I was doing the same again with a different filter. When I try and use the tags in the template, I appear to have 2 labelled the same ...Aspect name or whatever but when the report is run it only ever pulls the data from the first filter and not the second for both the tags.... any ideas?
  12. HI Guys, This question should be a piece of cake for you.... I'm looking to create a custom word template for a report. I have created excel templates that do all sorts of wizzy stuff with vbscript, pivot tables etc however I just cant remember/work out how to simply get the fields in to a custom report for word. For reference the reason I'm making a custom report is, if I have all the information in the report for a standard template it will not run due to exceeding width limit so I want to organise differently (plus I want to make it look nice ) So where I'm at (not far): I use the edit button to open up the user defined template. What I'm struggling with is the next part. How do I get the tags into the report? and how do I find out what the Tags will be. I'm using office 2013. Just a simple step by step so I know how to add/find the tags I require would be great. Thanks
  13. Think we are going down the route of banning memory sticks once our VLE is working properly and allowing access to their files at home. They have been pretty ingenious ... changing sticky keys to open up other software instead of sticky keys. Which I also had to block. Messing around with the classroom management system etc. Needless to say the culprits are being dealt with, but locking it down as best as I can. It is locked down very well they are just being overly creative
  14. Ok so its that age old question. How can I lock down the computer so that students do not have access to c in windows 7. I have had issues with students accessing C: wont go into detail, however it needs locking down. I will talk you through what I have currently done. 1. Hide C: - users create shortcut to C: so .... 2. Stopped creation of shortcuts - They use "open with" then "browse" to access to c: so ..... 3. Removed open with option - They right click change default program and use the browse so.... 4. Removed option to change program association. This is where I'm at ...If they bring a shortcut in on a memory stick that is to c: it will allow them to c: If they change the properties of an existing shortcut to c: they can access c: How can I stop them getting to the c: when there are so many backdoors? What permissions do you set on the computers? How do you guys deal with this? Allowing them access to c: is not an option anymore and removing right click is not an option as it effects our technology software. Would be grateful for any advice.
  15. The grade was expected in the 2012 census and it was a massive flop, as there were soo many problems with pulling the grades through from exams. They retracted that last year and the grades no longer have to be submitted as far as I'm aware. Funding is based on learning aims and how long the student has been in the course. 100% for a student attending the whole course. 100% for a student completing the course and exams even if its finished early. 50% if a student does more than 6 weeks but doesn't complete course. 0% if student doesn't last 6 weeks. dont take that as gospel but i'm pretty sure its something like that as I looked it up the other day......
  16. Bump... I need this solution too. Any solutions?? I would like to remove the properties from shortcuts and such.....
  17. Only benefit I can see is you have an extra month of attendance. They would put B marks (educated offsite) and this would essentially up all their attendance figures across the year. I'll let everyone else discuss the moral/legal implications of that one. I certainly would not do this myself.... I can see exams, census, course manager (learning aims), attendance all being issues. Might be worth a call to your mis support see what they say.
  18. Had to make an edit to the solution ... it didn't work when the users profile area had the name username.domain so instead of using %username% you should be using %userprofile% except for setting the folder permissions where you definitely use %username%. I changed the code on the write up in the link above.
  19. I know this is an old thread, but issue is still current. Here is a link on how to stop minecraft working in your network environment. Hope it helps.
  20. So here is the link on how to stop minecraft working in your network environment. Like I said not your finest, but its easy to implement and it works ! Hope it helps.
  21. Anyone still interested in this? I have worked out a solution .... not pretty at all, but it works..... I'm going to write it up and will post a link to the write up once I have completed it.
  22. Its annoying cos all Microsoft would need to do is prevent the creation/use of shortcuts to hidden drives.... problem solved...
  23. Hi guys, I know this has been discussed a little on here in other threads but I couldn't really find a definitive answer so I hope you don't mind me posting this question again for further discussion. We currently have c: hidden and we have used the reg edit to remove the "create shortcut" in the context menu. (cant disable right click as it affects other programs). This is all good, however if they create a shortcut at home and bring it in on a memory stick they will still have access to c: Whats peoples thoughts on this and the best way to prevent this ? Cheers
  24. Sorry to rain on the parade slightly..... we have had issues with them.... We have had the printers in for a year and we are constantly having to call them out to get them fixed.... Originally they came next day although that has become lapse. If the printer is bust they will do their upmost to fix it to the last final peice they really dont like replacing models that are completely dead. The kyocera models they have put in our school dont do continuous printing they have to stop to load toner before starting again decreasing dramatically PPM from advertised. Lastly their toner restock process just doesnt work... its meant to detect when new toner is needed but we often get stupid amounts of one printers toner and then none of another, the process simply doesnt work. They charge you to take away the empty toner. Other than that the engineers are generally nice guys and can be left to get on (except 1 who asked how to login to the MFD). When you phone them up to get the toner thats not come in they are pretty good. Price was a big incentive with us and is why we went with them ....
  25. I've installed the latest version of software A+ from the website and it doesnt cause the usb devices to freeze on switch user which is promising ... just gotta fit it all together (once i order an adaptor) and finish testing.
