I've just had a quote for Windows Server 2012 licenses under our existing EES agreement: WinSvrStd 2012 SNGL MVL 2Proc = 171.60 WinSvrDataCtr 2012 SNGL MVL 2Proc = 921.60 A couple of the posts in this thread have suggested prices for the Standard edition of £30 to £90, nowhere near £170... I originally asked for a quote from another provider but they told me that I need to buy these Server licenses from the provider of our existing EES agreement. How do these prices compare to quotes that people here have received? I'd like to go back and ask why the price is so high but thought I'd check on here first. Thanks

Same issue here, though I haven't used Meraki for long and haven't used that page before.

So I checked all the patch panels and they were labelled CAT5e or GigaPlus so I guessed this was a good sign and the patch cables that I could see were all 5e. We also had a redundant cable run so I swapped one for the other but still got the same problem. Next I unplugged the patch cord from the 2nd floor switch and put it into a laptop (as @Ste_Harve suggested) - 1.0Gbps Ethernet connection! So it must be the Gigabit port on the 2nd floor switch... no - plugged the cable back into the switch and suddenly the whole room is back on the network. Both switches are now reporting 1000FDx connections on those ports. I can only assume that there was some slight connection problem with the switch port and the patch cord, something that would still allow 100Mbps data connections but fail completely when we tried to push 1Gbps through - maybe something to do with what @Michael said about Gigabit connections needing all 4 pairs. Hopefully this was just a one-off problem but at least if it recurrs I'll have a better idea about where the real problem lies. Thanks again for everyone's advice.

I think that those settings are added into the GPO when you deploy printers from the print server (so not something you would have specified directly in the GPO). If CURRICSVR1 had still existed, my advice would be to remove those printers from the Deployed Printers section of Print Management. I think this describes a similar problem. In your case though it looks like the removal of that server has orphaned these settings in the GPO. I appreciate this doesn't provide an answer but hopefully explains what has happened. I'm not sure how this is all implemented, but if that old server is still available somewhere, you could spin it up and try removing the deployed printers. Alternatively, create a new print server with the same name then deploy the same printers - if (and its a big "if") the GPO settings are updated purely on the server/printer name this might overwrite the existing settings so that removing the deployed printer from the "new" print server might be enough to remove the connections from the GPO. It's a long shot and not a quick thing to try but if its causing you problems...

Thanks for all these suggestions, I'll work my way through and report back. The switches are already in production so I'll have to wait for the ICT suite to be free to do some testing. All the switch ports are set to Auto and the cabling should be CAT5e. I'd expect the cable run to be about 25m so well within the 100m max (according to Wikipedia).

Hi everyone. Part of our network consists of 2 HP ProCurve 2650 switches (one in our ICT suite on the 2nd floor and one in a "data cupboard" on the ground floor). The switches are connected via patch panels (i.e. not directly cabled). The problem I've got is that we cannot get a Gigabit connection between the 2 switches. The 2nd floor switch has been patched to one if its gigabit ports but when I patch the other end to the gigabit port of the ground floor switch, I get no data passing through. When I use one of the standard 100mb ports on the ground floor switch, however, the switches do talk to each other. It sounded like a faulty port but I've tried a laptop plugged into the gigabit port on the ground floor switch and I get a connection... Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks

Sounds very familiar! And of course the tools are the only way to delete results!

Or you could use the built-in SIMS tools under Tools > Performance > Assessment > System Utilities > Results to detach a result set from a set of results, then attach them to a new result set. Copy and pasting as @vikpaw suggested is less worrying though as you can see what's happening (using the SIMS tools requires a fair amount of confidence and faith!). To be tidy, you would then go to the tools above and use the Delete a Selection of Results option to get rid of the duplicates.

That's one option. The way we do it is to add the year information to the result sets instead. So we have result sets for Year 1 Autumn, Year 1 Spring, Year 1 Summer, Year 2 Autumn, Year 2 Spring and so on. This lets you then use a single Aspect (in conjunction with the appropriate result set) to store marks for the same assessment item at the different stages in the student's school life. Managing the Year/Term results in the result sets means that when you have to create a new Aspect, you only have to create one new Aspect.

Yes they can but the result depends a lot on the implementation. Could you give an example of what the marksheets you created last year looked like and what they look like now with the new groups assigned? The situation I'm imagining is that the same aspects have been used in templates for different years without using result sets, meaning that the latest result for each student is pulled through into the new marksheets (i.e. results from the previous year). That's only a guess based on the way we do things though.

I deploy the MSI (available from Adobe eventually) via Group Policy. I also use InstEd to create a transform to disable the update features.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but it's not exactly web dev... We have a Joomla-based website for parents to access all of the latest school news and activities. There's a very strong media focus to the website with hundreds, probably thousands, of photos and the amount of video on the site is growing each year. We do clear out the site each year, starting from a relatively clean slate but by the end of last year our website backups were around 8GB, so next year I'm anticipating at least 10GB. I currently use Akeeba backup (a Joomla extension) to backup the whole site to the hosting server and I also have a copy sent to an Amazon S3 bucket. The problem is it is just incredibly unwieldy, there's no notion of an incremental backup so every week we get a new multi-gigabyte backup. Akeeba (or conflicting settings on our web-host) is unreliable for these large backup sizes so the backups sometimes work and sometimes timeout - therefore requiring manual intervention and multiple backup attempts. The website is access-controlled, making it difficult to host the media elsewhere and retain the same level of security/seamless of use. Also, the media is served by SlideShowPro (another Joomla extension) and I don't know how well this would react to having to access content outside of the Joomla folders. Our primary website is only a few hundred MB so this is easy to manage but the "parent portal" I've described website is a different beast. I'm not looking for a specific solution to this problem (unless you have one!) but I'm very interested to hear how others manage their backups of large websites.

Yes, as kearton said - you can stop the redirection if you want by unticking the Printers option on the Local Resources tab of RDP but they only exist for that RDP session so its nothing to worry about.

Assuming that there are no forename/surname discrepancies between Frog and AD, could you not sort both worksheets by surname, forename and then do a big copy and paste of the usernames. Or maybe you could sort by the email address if these match across both worksheets. As long as each row is in the same order across both worksheets you don't need to worry about string matching.

It looks like the 32-bit and 64-bit installers have been combined into a single package. The last version I downloaded was 11.1 and for this there were 2 separate installers. It must have changed very recently.

Hi all I'm seeing quite a few entries in our DHCP address leases that I don't recognise and which don't follow the usual standards. One example is: IP: 172.16.1.147 Name: 172.16.1.147 (I would expect to see the device name here) Type: DHCP/BOOTP Unique ID: 3137322e31362e312e31343700 (normally this would be a mac address) I have about 30 of these types of entries and there is no ping response any any that I've tried. Also, our DHCP server is reporting that it's nearly out of address leases so if I could reclaim these strange entries that would be ideal. Does anyone know what these entries are for?
