On my way up now... only taken eight years in current school and a change of management to be allowed to go!

I guess not quite new, but back after a few years... Surprised I could remember details!

The school has recently purchased a Mac Mini Server and everything else is working fine except when I try to access the Wiki pages through anything other Mac OS. So my teachers are unable to put things on their wiki pages from their Windows machines... I've installed a number of browsers on my Windows workstation including Safari and Firefox... So at a last bit... help!

I'm creating a new profile because I'm getting a little fed up with users breathing down my neck waiting for their laptop back...

I've now done that and still no luck... I went on as the local user and found that there's no problem there at all... Any more ideas?

I was handed a laptop this morning that doesn't want to show images on any web page it goes to, just text... well I say handed to me today, I was handed it yesterday with no power supply and a flat battery so I handed it back... Anyway, Google looks like this... I've done the clear caches, clear history, reset IE's settings to default, even sat the machine next to another similar one and gone through the options in the advanced tab and made sure they match... Anyone else got any suggestions that I've missed?

Hello, I thought I was going to escape the end of the world IT issues today... Anyway, I've got a board/projector showing a dotted grid over the projected image, it doesn't affect the menu for the projector just the image being displayed from the laptop... It's an NEC NP610S if that helps...

Have just called and asked for an application form... They called me a weirdo, so looks like I won't get the job....

Just finished building mine...

Now I get asked to do all sorts of magic with the system and normally I have time to look things up in detail and make sure they work the way I want them to... but not at the moment... We've just had two non-English speaking students start and I can see in the not so distant future that I'm going to be asked to make their login change to their native language so that they can read things easier... Is that something that I can apply with a GPO? I've done changing resolution before, only to have the student transferred to another school by the time I'd finished making it work for them... Thanks in advanced folks...

I bought a cheap second hand slim and swapped the HDD out with a much bigger one... so my machine now has lots of fun with a 500GB drive... loads of space for DLC... I've done the same for a few friends who have bought the kit themselves...

Hello, I've got a batch process to export system information and I want to make a batch file to do it for all computers on site, however the way I've written it they'll all be called "001.txt" How do I create each file named after the computer it came from? I tried %HostName%.txt and it called the file exactly that...

I've been having a problem with my printers for the last few days now... For some reason one of the options that enabled the users to print to their mail boxes (where all documents are stored before actually printing) is "unticking" itself. I'm the only Domain Admin that has access to any of this and I know it's not Me, Myself or I doing it... Has anyone come across this before and if so how the heck do you stop it happening!

I will do @jamesfed It's described as the monitor flickers out and then back on again with the computer shutting down which is something I've never come across before... And yes before it's asked all cables are plugged in properly...

I've had a member of SMT coming to me saying that their computer keeps rebooting all the time. This is the same SMT member that asked for their computer to be upgraded to Windows 7 not too long ago... I've not actually seen it happen, but I'm assured that it happens... There's nothing in the Event Logs that indicates a problem, so I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem..?

I'm being both dense and impatient... I've asked my reseller where to get my old UPS battery recycled and they've not gotten back to me yet... I've looked through the paperwork and all I can find refers to the US... which is the wrong side of the pond... I've got an APC Smart-UPS 1000 and the old (dead) battery is on the floor in its box waiting for me to trip over it for the third time today...! Anyone?

The printers are shared units on the print server and are deployed through the "Printer Deployment" GPO as part of the 2008 Server GPO Set... The two new machines are running Windows 7 Professional... They're both in the correct OU... The GPOs for the printers are applied to the users who both sit in their own OUs in the SLT OU...

I've just had two new computers put in the Head and Deputy Head's offices but the printers that are attached to their accounts aren't following them to their new computers... I've even logged on as myself and the printers that normally follow me around haven't deployed, am I missing anything?
