its a good illustration of viral marketing. i got it from the guy who made the website, whose mates made the video and now the site is getting around 2000 hits/hour

there's a reskit prog called sc.exe where you can remotely enable services. used it not so long ago to disable the message service on all the machines using a net view | find " about sc

900 computers/laptops and a boss (doesnt count lol) and usually 3 technicians. atm we have 2 plus a temporary one (ex student from last year). there's more science technicians than computer technicians atm. thats sooo wrong lol last september we officially had 2 but one was off sick, so it was just me and 900 units omg! iirc correctly the becta suggested ratio is quite low. 150units per person or something.

need to create a packet filter on isa2004 to allow snmp queries from cacti. looks like i should create a system policy rule, but if i do "create new access rule" it sticks it in the firewall policy rules. is that right?

just seen another new job on the upcoming expansion site. pupetteer, to go along with corsair and blue mage.

did you figure out what the permission errors are. am having a key file error for pupils but on the same machines not for staff accounts.
-
and the cost. mostly the teachers use it as a means of having some more control and monitoring.
-
this program is soo gonna destroy networks, group policies, etc etc

we tried to use vncon. its was fine when just us techies used it, but it teachers wanted it for monitoring kids in their classrooms. It really doesnt like multiple users using it at the same time. well here anyway. became totally unreliable.
-
we started trialling this software called AB Tutor Control have to say it seems pretty damn amazing and it dont cost and arm and a leg. it does all the usual vnc type things but you can tile all the monitored workstations across the screen. You can create groups so teachers only monitor their classrooms and dont accidently affect other machines. there's the option to create a classroom plan. you can lock machines with a custom message/graphic. Teachers are well impressed with the ability to remotly use workstations to illustrate things. the same as vnc but the controls are much more user friendly. does other things too. The teachers are well impressed lol. and it aint a nightmare to install like vnc is, especially on a network.

i've always preferred sygate personal firewall over kerio

More freeware than you can shake a stick at :)

that place has been around for years. its great for shell extensions amongst other things. -
tbh i had that impression too beforehand but there's surprising depth and a lot of nifty features. its apples and oranges tho. i prefer ff party combat because there's usually more time for planning whereas in wow its all a mad rush

i tried guildwars but i didnt find it very stimulating compared to the other games I play.

i got it over xmas. its pretty cool but a close 2nd to my fav game ffxi online. I reckon if you took the best aspects of both games and combined them you have one hell of an uber game. i like the way wow revolves around quests and the way the areas are all joined up and the way levelling and farming and skilling can all be done simultaneously. anyway i'm a level 18 human warlock in a realm called khadgar.
