  1. We use it here for Anti-Virus as well as deploying some software that we cant deploy through GPO.
  2. On the server, run wbemtest, click connect. In namespace type root. Press enum classes. Select recursive, press ok. Look for _NAMESPACE ( System class), double click it. Press instances on the right hand side. Look for Namespace.Name="sms" and delete it. On the server, in the start menu, look for configuration manager setup. There should be an option for maintenance. Then another option for SMS provider. In the box type the name of the server, it will show a warning about already existing, press yes. Let it run.
  3. I dont have the CCMEval key. So not sure it applies to me.
  4. I've reinstalled the SMS provider by deleting the WMI namespace for SMS, it works for a day then breaks again. When will SP1 be properly released?
  5. Glad it isnt just me. Does removing the patch fix the issue?
  6. Hi all, We use SCCM 2012 to manage endpoint protection and deploy a few bits of software. I did some windows updates the other day and since then it seems to be having a problem with the SMS provider. It wont allow the client to connect to the database. I've tried loads of things, but the final thing I found was to delete the namespace SMS from WMI, and then reinstall the SMS provider. This worked perfectly. The problem is, every morning when I come in to check the AV status on the machines, the SMS provider has failed again. And I have to repeat the process. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks thought that might be the case.
  8. Sorry to jump in on this. I've looked at Veeam free to work alongside our BE we currently have. We have RDX drives with 500gb disks which backs up directly from inside a virtual Windows 2008 file server. To back up the VMs that are on the SAN would need TBs. Where do you guys using Veeam put your backups? Sounds like a daft question. Although our SAN has enough redundancy for disk failure, I'd hate to have to setup all the virtuals again and restore from the BE backup sets.
  9. So I could add another host to my existing vcenter setup and just tell VMware view manager to use that host for the desktops? Can you buy view manager on its own and use my existing setup? Or do I have to have specific desktop vsphere? I don't need any more redundancy than I have with the current setup for servers.
  10. So, at the minute we have vSphere essentials which allows 3 hosts with 2 CPUs each. Works great. We are looking to have a VDI solution so VMware made sense for us. I have been looking at all the packs, and the most suitable looks like Enterprise Starter kit with 10 VMs. This includes Desktop vCenter and Desktop vSphere for 1 host (I think) My question is this, how do we add hosts to it after? What packs do we buy? I've been looking here Buy VMware VMware View I can only find the support for the Ent Starter Kit, and only the Add on pack. I have realised I will have to run the desktop vCenter on its own independently of the existing vSphere Essentials. Thats fine, I have enough capacity for this. Any help appreciated.
  11. Holy hell! I'm in love with you. Thank you so much. The bit where I was setting it was a legacy option. Thanks for the clear up.
  12. Ok, thanks will look at that. I've put it in the internet explorer maintenance settings at the minute. Can you advise where yours was set? Thanks.
  13. Nightmare, thanks.
  14. Hi all, Just changed the group policy from pointing to the \\domaincontroller\netlogon\profiles\shortcuts to \\domain.local\netlogon\profiles\shortcuts and now every time anyone opens a shortcut they get security messages. Tried adding domain.local to the local intranet group, tried changing the attachment manager to allow .lnk files, on a low settings. Nothing seems to work. Any help appreciated.
  15. It's isnt plugged in to the ESXi server, the server in question doesnt support direct I/O, so the controller isnt passed through, its just the USB device from another server with a VMWare client. Tried it on 2 servers and has the same problem, tried it on a windows 7 client and its fine. Vmware tools, hardware versions, esxi version and patches all up to date and 100% compliant. Usb over ethernet? Got an example? Thanks
  16. Thanks. That was the same conclusion I'd come to. I've only just given them icons after CC3 and theyre quite useful, so don't want to remove them. It's only 1 teacher that has a problem with it, so tough.
  17. Is there a way to force it to arrange by name and auto arrange to stop the kids moving them about? Thanks
  18. Hi all, Just upgraded to 5.1 vSphere server and ESXi and now the USB passthrough is having some strange problems. One of the virtual machines is a file server and I pass a USB RDX drive through for backups, but its started disconnecting of its own accord, not fully but enough to stop it reading the contents of the disk. I get a strange disconnect error on the client (and yet it can still see all the hosts and virtuals and edit them) then on the USB menu in the console it says no usb devices. Close the client and restart and it lets me add it again but then before the backup is finished the drive vanishes off the virtual. Seems like a fault with the client somewhere. I've tried reinstalling the client, vSphere server, even Windows Server 2008 and yet the problem still remains. Any ideas? It worked fine before updating to 5.1. If I put the 5.1 client on a Windows 7 laptop, and connect directly to the host rather than the vSphere server, the usb drive works fine when passed through. I have tried putting the client on a fresh server too and it still fails. Is it a 2008 issue? Anyone else had this? Thanks
  19. Sorted! My bad. Totally missed the repeat end date drop down.
  20. Hi all, Got MRBS all setup, classes listed, users imported and went to make my first repeat booking. Makes the first booking, says its a repeat, and then doesnt show on the next week. Even has the delete series option alongside the delete entry. Its also in the SQL table. WHUT?! Thanks
  21. Just having a play with that, looks good. Like the way it integrates with ADUC I'll see how we go on with it and then maybe upgrade to pro.
  22. I used impero at my old school, i miss features like that.
  23. I did think about doing it like that, but I figured shutdown /s /c "Shutdown" /t 30 /m \\computer 200 times was a bit tedious, and it hangs if one is already off. I'll PM you my email, those bits would be great to look at. Does wolcmd work from the mac addresses?
  24. What do you guys do? I have FOG which can do magic packets, but the scheduler is broke in the current build, so you have to manually edit the SQL tables to delete events etc. Is there an alternative? I also tried to use the FOG client for shutdowns, but it just would not deploy properly and kept making machines hang. So ditched that idea.
  25. Hmm food for thought. Thanks all.
