We've just purchased a Cisco 857 router from our ISP, which is VPN enabled. They are trying to sell us a managed firewall, which keeps everything secure when we're transferred to public IP address and also provides a login interface for the VPN. However, is there any other solutions out there that do VPN interface and firewall? Was looking at Ranger Outpost but not sure if its firewall. We don't have ISA btw. Thanks

Hi, A few of my machines have errors on WSUS. I have recently installed a machine with Win XP. It appears in WSUS, and according to the WindowsUpdate.log file, its found the updates. However, it doesnt show the icon in the corner. Below is a section from the log file. There are some errors about the proxy, but it connects to main internet sits fine. The error with the verification seemed to effect some ISP's, mainly Redstone. Not sure about the 500 error, working fine up here

RabbieBurns, Thanks. Unfortunately we don't have a public IP address so can't turn the proxy off. When Redstone went down for an hour yesterday afternoon i wanted to just use a gateway but we don't have one.

Latest from Redstone is that one user on their platform has been sending alot of traffic to Google. They are working on tracing that user down.

Think me and brookesandrew have traced it to a problem with our ISP - Redstone.

Hello, Dont think this is possible but thought i'd ask anyway. We have an ISA-style box that cache's and also can block websites. We also have control of filtering at our ISP end. A few of our students go to college and discuss topics and group exercises on facebook. Is it possible to allow 1 student access to this. The only way i thought of doing it was to get the ISP to unblock it, and i can ban it on the ISA box. The student can then use the isp proxy rather than the cache. Are there any free proxies that I can add the settings to in IE? Thanks Karl

Did you get it working Athlona ? Left mine overnight and worked the following morning. Copied the GPO settings to all Workstations and hey presto they are reporting their status !!

Hello, Our ISP has changed proxy so we can now download WSUS updates. Got it all setup, downloaded all the updates with Microsoft. However, none of the clients appear in the computers section. I have changed GPO so that the update server is http:.//2003server:80 which is the default site in IIS that WSUS is using. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, Don't think this is possible but you guys can probably tell me. Is there a way to stop students connecting phones via usb to the computers? We've had a problem with students copying pictures from there phones onto the network. Don't want to diable usb as we need them for memory sticks. Thanks

Do not order from these. Had a salesman come to see me in the summer. Bought some memory sticks from them - the wrong ones. Just bought some digital video cameras that record onto dvd - 4 weeks to deliver. Sent the wrong dvd media still not replaced them after a further 5 weeks !!!

OK, finally been able to get in the room after Ofsted visit etc. Its not a memory issue, its the message attached. I've given everyone full control over the Macromedia folder in HKEY Local Machine but its still the same.

Hi, Installed fireworks on a suite last week. We found that on 1 machine, and on the teacher machine, fireworks won't load due to low memory. Nothing else is open, and the pc's have 2gb Ram. Any ideas?
