  1. Our LA also hold the licence for SIMS and normally deal with support. We purchased top-up support from Capita which enables us to log calls direct with Capita and cut out the LA. You can buy it for individual module areas or the whole suite depending on your needs. Quicker resolution to issues by cutting out what is effectivly the "middle man". Our LA don't have a problem with it, but then every one is different!
  2. We have an EES agreement and a new Mac suite, so we've downloaded the ISO from the Volume Licensing Service Center and deployed it using Apple Remote Desktop. Deployed fine, all great, done and dusted.... or so I thought. Here is the problem..... on the VLSC is quite clearly states there is no product key required, yet when run on the macs i'm prompted to either: 1) Enter a product key 2) Buy a product key 3) Use it as a trail Has anybody else had issues like this?
  3. As part of our Windows 7 rollout we have deployed IE9 (using sccm). When a normal member of staff logs on the icon for IE9 is missing and IE9 refuses to load. If you log on as an administrator, log off and back on as a normal user, the icon appears and IE9 runs normally. Any ideas why? With a nearly 1000 machines i don't want to visit every machine and logon as an administrator to get IE9 to work!
  4. Is there anything connected to the default vlan? If not, that will explain why you can't ping it. You can only ping a vlan IP if there is something connected to it. You could paste your config onto here and see if we can spot anything that doesn't look correct.
  5. Is 10.68.40.1 the IP address of the device provided by your ISP? Not sure if it's the same where you are, but I have ip route 0.0.0.0 10.59.100.1 (10.59.100.1 is the device provided by Synetrix) rather than ip route 0.0.0.0 10.59.100.6 (10.59.100.6 being my default gateway)
  6. Presumably the ones that come with MSNDAA can only be used for development issues? Is that the case or can they be used like the 2 you get with TechNet subscriptions, on any product?
  7. I've just upgraded to the latest firmware which caused a reboot and I still can't get it to work. Any more ideas?
  8. Yep that is set of all VLANs on the edge switches. I'm having trouble across VLANS when the server and client are both plugged into the 5406zl
  9. I'm trying to get multicast routing working on our core switch (a HP 5406zl) an struggling big time. We have a premium license for the switch and I think I have configured it all correctly but when I attempt to image machines using SCCM (which is all setup for multicast), I cannot image anything of a different VLAN to the server. If I connect a client to the same VLAN as the server I have no problems. This is the config output from the switch: ; J8697A Configuration Editor; Created on release #K.15.03.0007 hostname "Core Switch" module 1 type J8706A module 2 type J8702A module 3 type J8702A module 10. I think the stanard license includes 1 drive and since the TL2000 only has 1 drive I never had to explore additional licensing. If you look here Enterprise Support - Symantec Corp. - Symantec Backup Exec ™ 2010 Licensing Guide that is the license document. It looks like for more than 1 drive you need a Library Expansion Option license. No idea how much that costs.
  11. I've got BE 2010 R3 and a TL2000 connected to a SAS controller in our backup server. In BE goto Tools, Wizards, Tape Device Configuration Wizard. This will allow you to install the drivers - we used the top option, Use Symantec tape drivers for all supported tape drives. Run through the wizard and it should find your drive and install the drivers. I've split the slots up into partitions in BE to allow me to target certain jobs and certain slots (slots 1-4 run the daily differential backups, 5-9 run the weekley full backups and 12-16 run the monthly full backups)
  12. In that case it must be coming with the browser, but I installed IE8 and it comes with Flash 8. If stop IE8 from being installed using an answer file and then install IE9 as part of the OSD task, it also comes with Flash 8. The reason I thought it must be with Windows 7 is I couldn't understand why IE9 would include an old verison of Flash. So, i'll change the question, can it be unbundled from the browser?
  13. We are using SCCM to deploy Windows 7 and as part of our OSD task we are installing the latest version of Flash (both the plugin and ActiveX). Flash installs fine, but it seems that Windows 7 comes pre-loaded with version 8. Whenever we visit a say requiring Flash (say youtube) it complains about needed an upgrade. Is there a way to remove Flash 8 from the Windows 7 WIM?
  14. Not following..... I've already got the enterprise CALS..... You don't need an Edge server as it will work on Hub Transport servers.
  15. When we setup Exchange 2010 we purchased both standard and enterprise CALS for every member of staff. I am now looking at implementing Forefront Proection 2010 for Exchange server and from what I read on the Exchange licensing page (Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server Licensing) it seems all you need is the enterprise CALS. Can anybody confirm this or am I better seeking clarification from you licensing reseller?
  16. Is the msp in the "Updates" directory?
  17. We've started to install SOLUS3 agents on some of our machines and today when our one of our finance staff tried to run FMS she got this: FMSLoad Error Message. An error occurred. Message: Access to the path 'Global\{6C91F89F-E8BC-1015-8AA6-B5C742A1FB32}' is denied. Detailed error information: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'Global\{6C91F89F-E8BC-1015-8AA6-B5C742A1FB32}' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.Threading.Mutex.<>c__DisplayClass3.<.ctor>b__0(Object userData) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.RuntimeHelpers.ExecuteCodeWithGuaranteedCleanup(TryCode code, CleanupCode backoutCode, Object userData) at System.Threading.Mutex..ctor(Boolean initiallyOwned, String name, Boolean& createdNew, MutexSecurity mutexSecurity) at System.Threading.Mutex..ctor(Boolean initiallyOwned, String name) at FMSLoad.main.agentRunning() at FMSLoad.main.Main() My first thought was the SOLUS3 agent as this was the last thing to change on the machine and sure enough when we uninstalled it FMS was happy again. I've got a call logged with Capita but just wondering if anybody else has experencied the same or similar issues?
  18. We were due to use this for our Geology exam today but due to issues getting the software upgraded and trying to get hold of the right person at BTL who could fix it we decided a couple of weeks ago to go with the paper based exam, thankfully, judging by some of the posts above.
  19. So true! I went for 1800 in the end as this was the example used on MSDN. It's enabled me to remove the order.
  20. We've got one particular order record on FMS that we are unable to delete and keep getting the following error: [Microsoft] [sql Server]Lock request time out period exceeded [Microsoft][sql Native Client][sql Server]The statement has been terminated I logged a call with Capita, only for them to come back with, it's a Microsoft problem, not caused by FMS and here is a link to an article How to Minimize SQL Server Blocking I'm now waiting for them to confirm that it is ok to apply this setting to the CCSFMS db as I don't want to be held accountable if something else breaks. Assuming they do, does anybody have any suggestions on a suitable time out period?
  21. Really struggling with the cluster validation as part of the process of setting up failover clustering for use with HyperV. I am consistantly getting 1 of 2 errors every time I run the storage tests - every other set of tests pass. I either get: Failed to attach disk with ID {de6d1f59-01e2-4864-af26-8f044f78e41b} from node servername (error Incorrect function. ). Please retry after restarting servername. or Disk with id {de6d1f59-01e2-4864-af26-8f044f78e41b} is only visible from one node. This disk is not eligible for cluster validation. I'm pretty sure i've got the iSCSI settings correct as I can see the disk in Disk Managment, offline ready for the validation to test it, but it still fails. Despite following the instructions to restart the server and try again I am still having the issue. In the storage array (Dell PV MD3200i) i've got 2 controllers and while the tests are being carried on I have observed the virtual disk moving backwards and forwards between controllers - I'm sure this has something to do with it but I don't know why... Can anybody point me in the right direction
  22. There is a patch from Capita that will remove unreference QANS from the database - 12879 is the one you want.
  23. Got exactly the same problem and the cause also seems to be importing all the available QANS to Course Manager. I've got a case open with Capita to see if this can be resolved or if there is a way to delete expired and unused QANS. I'll post the outcome.
  24. It appears to be a problem opening the files from a UNC path. If the user opens it by going into their My Documents folder which is redirected to \\servername\pupils\username for example it doesn't work. If the user opens the same file by going into My Computer and selecting the U drive (in our case) it works fine. I just don't know why....
  25. Our pupils are creating websites using Dreamweaver and they are having problems when they are trying to view the webpages. If they double click on the html file and try to open it, Google.co.uk loads which is what we set as their homepage. We've created a simple html file with nothing more than text and still get the same result when logged on as a pupil. When logged on as using a staff account this does not happen. If we open IE prior to opening the html file it works. Any ideas?
