Well i have worked as IT Technician for 4 years now in two different schools and the current IT Manager is close to retirement and i want to be in a position to take over as IT Manager when he leaves but i don't want to be over looked because of no qualifications.
-
Hello, Right i want to start getting some qualifications through Microsoft learning i am getting confused on where i should start? I think i need to get more qualifications to progress my career, what does anyone think i should definitely do?
-
I know i am probably missing something here but hopfully someone will be able to answer me. I am configuring folder redirection for the staff start menus and desktops. The start menu will show the redirected items however it will still show the local start menu? Also the desktop will still show all of the local items? hmm

Yeah thought so, its a useful set of policies the office 2010 ones lol
-
You will probably have to add on the office 2010 admx administrative gpo settings.

Completely different yes just popped into my head because of the similar names. Has anyone seen Project X or Man on a Ledge also brilliant films, Project X is based on a real story that some of you may have heard about on the news at the time about a party that got out of hand via being posted online and the house got destroyed, Brilliant!

Think the problem is that you are using IE.

Haha seems i sparked a interesting thread. I honestly don't mind it i would rather the colours looked light and fresh than darker as it seems i tend to spend quite a while on here sometimes lol

This is hillarious, and pretty stupid as it is just going to open a huge can of worms. Should be pretty entertaining to watch though! -
I really enjoyed unthinkable however you should watch unstoppable as that is a brilliant film.

no i think it would be better for our school to keep using the OWA. Last site managed to get the OWA to login automatically depending on who was logged onto the computer so would be involving the AD.
-
Haven't seen any similar threads so thought i would comment. I like the default site after the new update i think it looks really great. Anyone not like it?
-
I think I'm more intrigued as my last work place managed it but I never thought to find out how lol. Just trying to improve my knowledge mainly.

@FN-GM We are not using the full version of outlook for some staff as they login different places and the profiles are not roaming so this is a problem. We install full version on all staff laptops but they all have classroom computers so not alot of them use it in school. Any information on 2010 OWA?
-
Does anyone know how to sort out OWA to auto login using your domain username and password? I know it can be done but unsure how? Thanks

[ms office - 2010] Outlook & mandatory profiles
mrb-solutions replied to kestrel1's topic in Office Software
Okay, the PST will be different for each user that logs in then however it will not remember the settings and it will be hard to use outlook on the machines unless you 1: stay on the same machine and don't have GPO removing unused profiles from the c drive after certain amount of time and 2: change accounts to roaming profiles if possible. This way outlook settings will carry with the user across the network. The problem is that you have moved the PST file and it will work while you are logged in, then when you log out and in again it won't remember where the PST file is until you tell it if you see? -

are you talking about a stand alone machine with multiple user accounts or just one user account and multiple email accounts? create a new data store and let it default to where it wants it then load up outlook and create a new email account and direct it towards your IMAP server? -

And did you point outlook towards the new location for the pst file? Usually this does not work you should load up outlook first and then connect it to your IMAP server to download the data to the PST file. You can always create a new data store (PST) for outlook so that it opens for now then change the settings if this makes sense lol? -
yes this issue is caused when the computer is not shutdown properly and the start up repair occurs best idea is to disable this or remind staff to not let this run, i know that would be a long shot but you can always try. UNdomain....redomain is the fix, Microsoft bug i suppose.

What happens when you had the fresh copy of office 2010 onto the pc and your run it first time? Did you manually set the settings and point it towards your IMAP server for now? -
Happy with that. Thanks sysman_mk monies sent just now.
-
Thanks for the help, would anyone be able to have a go themselves and maybe @SYSMAN_MK could help?

Hi Can anyone help, i am after some ideas to help with the design of a logo. Below is what we have so far but all are not quite right. The 'Limitless' is supposed to be like a heart beat monitor line. Perhaps it should be green also? If it helps i prefer the second and 4th ones on the left going down as i think the 'freestyle' should be easier to read?

Do you have an AUP? I would say that they are allowed to bring in but need to work by the AUP and own equipment is not liable in any way to the school. But i would also say that we would not configure them in any way to work with the network as there are staff machines/laptops for that. Just saves lots of trouble with proxy/internet issues.

I agree, We went with solution 1. And instead of the power adapters charging the units we have them powered from a big USB hub and cables are neat. Works a treat. I can post a picture if anyone is interested?
