I know what you mean. We've had Securly for about 3 years now and it was a breath of fresh air compared to Smoothwall (easier to set up, better safeguarding reporting etc) but a few niggles have been creeping in over the last while which is making it more problematic. Embedded video's in websites and now the YouTube issue. Their support are generally pretty good and responsive but when they hit a brick wall, as with the Youtube issue, it feels like a bit of a shrug of the shoulders. If it works with Google (as they supply the US primarily that's their bread and butter) then they are less interested in the M365 schools.

Best I've managed to do is set up SSO with Google Workspace (even though we don't use it) so the staff and pupils can use their school email to log into Youtube. Once they're logged in for the session all the powerpoint links seem to work fine. It's hardly ideal though. Send a support request to Securly so they know more people are having this issue.

What web filter are you using? We have Securly and they are aware of this but don't seem to have a fix. We are an M365 school so don't use Chrome.

I have an old entry level Roomba. He's called Fergal. Fergal likes to regularly alert me that he is stuck on something.

How are you finding them in comparison to something more "traditional" like a Smoothwall/SophosXG/Fortigate? At the price point I'm tempted to get 2 for failover and have our whole environment Unifi.

Using OneDrive for home folders is a great option when set up with Files on Demand. Staff and students took to this without any real issues. Shared drives is a different beast and while the actual migration is really easy we've had to use Cloud Drive Mapper to give staff a consistent experience.

IAM Cloud here too. Works well. Occasional issues with local profiles that causes the drives to not show correctly in explorer (it's rare and clearing the local profile fixes it immediately so I haven't bothered investigating further).

We do the routing through our pfsense which works well for us. The Unifi Controller (linux VM in our case) is miles better than it used to be.

We use HP (Scottish Procurement Framework so pricing is pretty good). Elitebooks and Elitedesks mostly. Solid kit and support has been good.

Put some stuff in about having good cabling in the fallout shelters we'll all be living in.

The character limit in Sharepoint is more like 400 but things like spaces get changed to %20 which makes stuff even longer.

Yeah I think we'll be going to a mix of automatically created class teams and some manual for the 2 year courses. It looks like the digest email will work for both from a bit of basic testing I've done. The assignments email was the driver for this as a rival school has just set it up and we need to keep up with the Joneses.

Do you have a weekly parent email showing the assignments?

Thanks MartinT. Sadly we don't have Cloud Design Box and it would be my head if I stopped staff being able to manually create Teams (they are up in arms about the automatically created class Teams as it is!).

Hi All We've recently set up Microsoft SDS using SalamanderSoft (who were great) but I've been told that the weekly digest email for parents only includes Teams created using the SDS process. I just wanted to see what people's experience is on here. I would have assumed if we have the parent/guardian sync running and correct then if we turn on the weekly digest option in a Team it shouldn't matter if it's created in the SDS process or created manually after the fact. Basically we have some classes that go over 2 years and the teachers don't want this archived in the middle so they will create and manage it manually. We would still want weekly assignment emails sent for these though. Is this not possible? Ta

Same here. Had it for a number of years now and can't fault it for the price.

Canva have acquired Affinity (ex Serif) - Canva Acquires Affinity There is a suggestion that it may be free or heavily discounted for schools. I haven't looked into it fully myself but perhaps an options for an Adobe alternative?

Looks like the Dream Machine Pro Max is now available at the UK store.

We use pfsense currently but as we are about to change our ancient netgear switches for Unifi and we already have their APs and a controller I wonder if this would fit in our environment? Secondary school with about 650 pupils and a BYOD. Been looking at a Fortigate solution but it's pricey compared to this.

Microsoft have a typically vague advisory at the moment - "Potential issues accessing mailbox via one or more protocols" Could be that.

I'm going Ubiquiti purely for the RGB ports

For those with 3CX - are you hosting onsite, with 3CX and just purchasing SIPs with calling plans or going the full 3rd party hosting service? Looking at switching from Horizon and the costs seem to vary a lot.
