this is what i am doing at the moment on our five sims servers, but also make sure you have upgraded to the latest service pack before you attempt the upgrade and possible uninstall the old obdc and ole drivers

should we schedule it to run on a Thursday morning @ 8:05

upgraded all boxes to maiden, openvpn connect connects but it doesnt pass the dns or domain info so cant remote to anything on the network but the original smoothwall vpn client works fine so still wont work for Macs, phones or ipads which we were tyring to fix

Yep support beat you too it again, also will the smoothwall client still work with maiden or do we need everyone to use open vpn

Cheers Tom, just had that same reply from support. But do I need to upgread the four child boxes to maiden first or can I just upgrade the parent that has the issue?

we have just had a new S9+ installed to replace the old S8 we had. Went smoothly till we tried to use the SSL VPN, Smoothwall have subsequently fixed this for the windows application but it doesn't work for Open VPN. they have said installing Maiden will fix the problem but we use radius accounting on the box and Microsoft AD directories for our Unifi wifi which maiden doesn't support. has any body upgraded to maiden and got radius and ms authentication working as i have a job open with smoothwall but they are very lacklustre. this is only affecting our mac users but is a real pain.

we just imaged 10 brand new machines with 24h2 and they were so slow to image and then install software through sccm we re-imaged with 23h2 and they are so much faster

we haven't seen any impact as long as Sophos is running and we have it across all six of our sites

yes it should run in passive mode, but if you look in task manager it can sometimes run along side sophos and cripple the machine

have you checked to see whether windows built in av is running reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /v DisableAntiSpyware /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f even with sophos installed it can still run

you can use powershell to do that, it takes all of 2 mins

you can spam the logout button on a connected and locked client, this will log them out

try adding Sophos as an install in the task sequence

gpo can be restrictive if you need to change the time, a couple of batch files and a task sequence are easier

set up a batch file on a server with shutdown.exe /s /m \\pc name /t 0 use excel to concatenate the machine names in from ad and paste into the batch file and run as a scheduled task

about a couple of years ago when opening word it would delete all files from users home drives, we would restore and then it would happen again. eventually downgraded the release and all worked fine. we use OneDrive but this wasn't affected.

we had this with a rogue version of office deleting files
