Hi there, the head has asked me to setup a portal for staff to access (using their own logins) that can be used for policy documents, forms for expenses etc and to act as a helpdesk. Currently we have spice works for the helpdesk if that helps. Any ideas? Cameron

Hi there, thanks for the offer. I had a follow up call from the supplier who sold us a Chromebook and when I explained the issue to him, I had a phone call from Google within the hour. All sorted now.

Sorry for the late reply. Yep I did try this route but didn't know what email address to put in etc. I did try obvious ones but no joy.

I am loosing the plot here! Trying to start investigating Google apps for Edu etc but it appears my predecessor had the same idea too. So when I go to setup the domain I'm getting an error saying that it's already in use. I can't contact support because I need a pin and need to be logged in to the admin console to get this pin. When clicking on the links to send a support message/email nothing is happening. This is infuriating and not a great start! Anyone got any ideas? Cheers

Hi there, using my personal laptop via the school wifi and when at home, I can access https://ca-marking.assessor.rm.com/Assessor.Web/Marker.aspx However, I i'm logged on to a domain PC I cannot access it at all. Google Chrome - This site can't be reached. ca-marking.assessor took too long to respond. ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT Firefox - The connection has timed out. IE11 - This page can't be displayed. Make sure the web address https://ca-marking.assessor.rm.com is correct. I have tried accessing the site with the AV disabled, have added an allow rule on the Lightspeed box for the domain and added my PC as an internal ignore on the Lightspeed box. I'm running out of ideas now, anyone got anything else for me to try? Cheers

I normally play either Rookery Park, Bungay or Southwold GC's. All in the north of Subny Suffolk.

Cheers I'll need it. Getting the ball in the air isn't a prob for me but getting it to go in the right direction is! Also I'll be playing with contacts in for the first time.

I'm playing tomorrow for the fist time in over a year. Staff v Parents. Bring it on!

Hi there, I had an issue today with a student who was printing into A4 acetate today without issue using the above printer but when she needed to print some stuff on to A3 acetate it just wasn't working. Basically only a portion of the image was printed out. I have had a look at the manual but there is no mention of acetate so was wondering if any of you fine Lords and ladies had any bright ideas about this. What would be the alternative paper/media setting for printing on to acetate if acetate isn't listed as an option? Cheers

Hi there, we have a projector that will not accept numbers 7 and 9 from the remote meaning we cannot unlock it. We have over 20 of these onsite and I have now tried at least 7 remotes but still no joy. We have pulled the power lead out and left it over night hopeing that that will help but nope. Has anyone else come across anything similar and has managed to work it out? Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for that. I was just looking at the Corsair one a few moments ago. I think I will just go for that. Cheers

Thanks for the replies. I managed to meet up with him yesterday and so we had a look at the PC. PSU tests fine and all the components work when placed into another PC. We did remove the CMOS battery for a while whilst everything was unplugged from the board. Re inserted the battery and the original PSU, switched on and still no joy. No beeps, nothing flickering onto a monitor connected via the onboard port. We just have fans whirling away. Completely dead me thinks. Told him if he has any chance of gaming with his mates this weekend then he needs to just get on with getting a replacement board. In the end I got him one off eBay and told him it's his next birthday and christmas present! Saying he's chuffed is an understatement!

Certainly doesn't look good. I've been speaking to him over the phone and he's distraught!

Good morning all, my nephew has decided to upgrade his PC for gaming purposes and it looks as though he has screwed things up but I thought I'd run it by the bright sparks on here before suggesting he needs to save up more of his pocket money to purchase a new motherboard. He had purchased a new graphics card and PSU and decided to install them. Now althought the Acer motherboard has a proprietory 12 pin connector, he thought it was OK to try and plug in the standard ATX plug into it and power it on! Now straght away I'm thinking that although part of the plug fits and the rest hangs over, the actual pin config is likely to differ and he's fried the board. So as nothing worked when he switched it on, he went online and purchased a adapter for the PSU connector to fit onto the Acer board properly. He said this hasn't made a difference. There are no POST beeps, no lights, just the whirling of fans and HDD noise but nothing happening. Would you agree that the board is dead?

We nearly moved there in 2007. We got to the very end of the visa process and were sent the final bill of £800 which covered the medicals and the final balance for the visa agency. However, this process took nearly two years and before we paid this balance we went through the 'For & Against' thing we had initially done to make sure we still wanted it. In that time our circumstances had changed and in the end we didn't make the move. Initially we were making the move for the weather but it transpired we would miss the our culture, history and other things far too much. What also didn't help was when we visited my brother in law in Perth, he invited some friends and colleagues to his house for a bit of a party one night with the idea of giving us a chance to chat to them and ask unbiased questions. The night was spent listening to a load of ex pats slagging of England. That was all we got out of it and that stayed with us and had an impact on our decision whether or not to go. We had it on a plate, the wife had secured a teaching job and had a job offer with SAP in Perth but in the end it just wasn't for us. No regrets! My brother in law has since moved from Perth over to Brisbane and although he has a good job and earns a decent wage, he does comment that it has got a lot more expensive to live in Oz and the prices keep rising. Do your research, visit the place(s) you're considering, do your research, question the why's and what for's again and then do what you feel is right. Good luck.

Popped into Game today and just couldn't make my mind up!

Not bothered about playing with mates online tbh. Just me and a bunch of strangers playing Fifa and call of duty etc and I'm happy. To be honest I am leaning towards the PS but not overly sure why. Lol

Hi there, I used to be into my PC gaming but haven't played anything for about 5 years now. Instead of squirrelling myself away to play games, I've decided to get a console for the big tv in the lounge so that its there for everyone. My problem is that I can't decide between the XBox or the PS and I want to go out and get one then tomorrow. For those of you that have used both, can you please share your thoughts. Thanks in anticipation!

HP have killed Procurve. You'll never guess what they did next.

A load of Procure kit was on my Santa list but will have to research / reconsider this now. I don't like dealing with HP at the best of times as I always seem to get passed from pillar to post so if this has added another layer of hassle then they can do one! -

11:11 UK time. Shame as we're off to a woodland lodge for Christmas and this would have been lovely if it was at night. -
Any sign of scheduled scans yet?

XBoxOne via Lightspeed. Captive Portal?
bodminman replied to bodminman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
. . . or thinking about it I could just set a static IP in the XBox and assign a policy to that IP.
