This is on the app

We have the trial set up and everything seems to be working as we'd hoped. We are having problems getting tablets to connect via our wifi though, did anyone find they needed to do anything extra to get tablets to connect via the app? We have the tablet and URLs whitelisted on meraki but it only displays a connection error message. When we look in smoothwall there is no log of it trying to connect. Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies, it all looks very positive. I'm impressed at the response times mentioned so far, it seems like they are keen to work with schools to produce exactly what is needed rather than leave us to make do. A question our office manager has just asked is what is the register taking functionality like? From an attendance p.o.v, is the write back immediate? From a cover p.o.v how do you manage allowing external supply staff to have access, if at all? Finally, how does it work for teachers who are also a parent at the school?

Hi, we are looking to set up a trial with ELO very soon. Everyone here seems to love the product, but I was wondering if there were any problems with it that anyone has encountered? How is the functionality of this product when compared with SMHW, ClassCharts, etc? How have people found rolling ELO out to staff/parents/students? Sorry for all of the questions, it just seems that for the price it's too good to be true!

I was in a similar position of not wanting anything in particular for a gift. I ended up diving with sharks (https://www.blueplanetaquarium.com/diving-with-sharks/shark-encounter-dive/) as it's something I've always wanted to do.

Have they been previously invited? I may be wrong but I think they would only appear in "Reinvite" if the emails have already been sent. We are just about to send our emails out, and when going through the steps, the email addresses appear in Manage Users > Invite > .. > Preview Invitations. As you have already mentioned, our emails are set to Primary and Main in Panel 4, and no further interaction was required for the emails to transfer across.

Glad it helped. The tables in annex A are really helpful in finding out the value of grades in some of the less mainstream quals, so no doubt it may come in helpful for you again in the future (I know it has for me!)

I just used the FFT 9-1 grades to convert to the L2P grades etc. Under the new system, the CamNat grades also have new points values. Using the table on page 31 of this document https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/583857/Progress_8_school_performance_measure_Jan_17.pdf, I used a lookup to convert the 9-1 grades to the corresponding CamNat grades.

Yes I've used them for probably around 5 years now. They were that good that when I got a job in a different school I insisted that we dumped Capita to go with them. Their staff are really friendly and go the extra mile to help.

We had this issue as the points didn't transfer to the new form group's homepage graph. The only way I could get around this was to set up a UDG for the form and set the conduct graphs to filter on this group instead of the reg group

Have you had a look at the homepage? Theres a section you can add to it called Missing Registers Notification. This updates throughout the day with a list of registers that haven't been taken. You can also send reminder messages to teachers to do their registers, though in my experience these are ignored until their inbox is full. Edited to add that I've just noticed this thread doesn't relate to SIMS..but I'll leave my reply here in case anyone else is unaware of the feature.

[sims] How do I add new course levels into Nova-T
jonrose replied to WayTooTricky's topic in MIS Systems
It's been a while since I've done this, but I think you need to refresh the basedata and there should be a tick box to select the levels you need/want.- 1 reply

Hi David This is possible, though it took me some time to figure out how to do it using macros etc in a report. My report outputs a spreadsheet from SIMS with a list of each kid and the Bronze/Silver/... certificate each has earned to date in one tab, then in another tab has a smaller list of only the kids who are due to be given new certificates since the last time the report was run. If you drop me your email in PM I will send you a copy of the report I created for you to play about with. Cheers jon

[sims] Marks disappearing after being saved? Next steps?
jonrose replied to WithoutMotive's topic in MIS Systems
Same here, had a few members of staff report that their data had disappeared, but I suspected that it may have just been an excuse for missing deadlines. -
Think this report may be what you are looking for: Reports > Lesson Monitor > Module Reports > History of Changes Report Jon

Just had this error appear on my machine, after manually redeploying SIMS via Solus 3 (3.8.53.0) it appears to have fixed it.

Just a quick comment about the cost/LA issue, double check with your LA what the situation will be for your school re. the cost. From the Aspire launch onwards, our LA is having to pass some of the costs onto schools due to an increase in the amount they are required to pay FFT. This may not be the case for all LA's, but it's worth checking that you will have access automatically once it's released without having to pay the LA.

When does FFT update for the new year?
jonrose replied to studio's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
I attended a meeting 2 weeks ago at our LA where a rep from FFT was presenting the new FFT Aspire. During the meeting he told us that they won't be updating FFT Live this year, instead everything will be going live on the new Aspire system. One new feature which I really like is that instead of waiting for the census data to be uploaded to access the new intake data, a tool will be available for schools to upload new students' UPNs as soon as they are known to populate the new year groups. I suspect this means they won't be creating the new year groups themselves, rather that the emphasis is on us to set them up. I would prefer this though as we can set up the new year groups in July/August when the new intake is known which will help with advanced target setting etc. He also told us that FFT Live will be "locked" but accessible until around Christmas when it may be taken offline. In the meantime the new Aspire system will be having a phased launch with new features being made available with every update. I can't remember the time frame exactly, but I think by mid November-December everything may be online. Here's a link to the leaflet we were given in case there are people who aren't aware of the new system. http://www.fft.org.uk/FFT/media/fft/Downloads/fft-Aspire-A4_LA.pdf -
I've had this before, can't remember how this came about but it may have been caused by importing a CTF with the incorrect data. I was given a .exe program called reallocateupn.exe which when ran deleted the duplicate UPN. I don't know how to (or even if I'm able to) upload the zip file I have with it in, but if you PM me your email address I will send it to you.
-
Another +2 here. When we ran the CTF export for year 9 it missed a student out of year group so we had to run it a second time to catch the additional student. Only realised when it flagged up on the census. Only a minor niggle but this would probably have saved a few minutes extra work.

Since I'm not originally from round here I have to agree....though Stockport (where I was born) isn't much better

This is my view. My old view was through an internal window into a corridor so a bit of an improvement

Thanks for the replies, I'm relieved to know that it's not something I had done wrong with the setup. I'm just getting to grips with Profiles, at the moment I'm cloning previous sessions from last year and trying to iron out the bugs until I understand how it all works better. I had double checked that both teachers linked to the class hadn't entered comments so knew it wasn't that, but I have encountered that problem before. Is there any way at all for staff to see if another teacher has entered comments for a student on their list? This is especially a problem for our PE dept.
-
Hi I am hoping someone may be able to shed some light on an issue I'm having, I've posted this on SupportNet as well, but someone here may be able to help also. I have a Profiles session that is now in Review mode for checking, and when I view a student from a class, their comment is repeated: Ie - "Joe Bloggs has made good progress this term, his understanding of the subject has improved. Joe Bloggs has made good progress this term, his understanding of the subject has improved." I am fairly new to using Profiles so don't know where the issue lies. The area itself is linked to 2 courses, Geography (KS3) and a Foundation course. On the List Entry & Review screens the comments are only shown once, but when the Word preview is opened the duplication occurs. I've checked the template and the comment tag only appears once. Just to be sure I have removed the tag and re-added it but it hasn't helped. There is a similar area setup for History linked with the Foundation course, but the problem doesn't arise for this subject. Thanks in advance for your advice/help with this. Jon
