Yeah, they keep saying no line disconnects in x months and nothing in the logs. I don't think they've quite figured out that if all three sites are doing it then it isn't a problem on the local network!

Does the patch from the router to the rest of the network have to be in Port 24? Just noticed this I always remember it being 1 or 2 (or was 2 for Polycoms?) and 24 was for diagnostics...?!

It's worked for years for me, although we run our own tenancy not via Link2ICT. When we partnered with another school for four terms in 2012/13 we added each other into the SfB (or Lync 2013 then!) admin and could work seamlessly between directories. Only problem is now I can't delete the other schools people from my SfB contacts list!

Anyone else finding the internet crawling every now and again? I've noticed when this happens Solarwinds times out. I have three sites, three different subnets with three independent fibre lines (2x 100Mbps, 1x 10Mbps) and they are all the same! When I can view Solarwinds the 10 meg site is running at about 65% capacity (95th %ile) and the other two are fine. Anyone else?!

Does anyone know what this is for? What burns? What really, really burns? Two damn years on I have to Google this again, and guess what I find!!!

It was remarkably quick and peaceful. 1/4 of the drug went in in about 3 seconds and she passed out at that point. Just gentley fell down and death was within a minute after that. She looked bright and happy until she passed out, it was far better than I thought it was going to be. I think the hardest part was the 15 minute wait with her before she was euthanised, its a rather odd feeling to be fussing your pet knowing she'll be dead within minutes. Still fussed all the way to the end and at least she went looking at us quickly. Given her illness there were far, far worse ways to die. Spoke to the vet and we could not have called the timing any better. From the bloods she'd gone from a gentle decline over 6 months, to far worse than normal in the past fortnight, to end of life within 24 hours. It was just hard as mentally she was still very bright, she had that spark of a live animal up until she was injected, but her body had failed drastically in the 18 hours since we took her to the hospital. I'd highly recommend anyone in the future with a euthanisia coming for their pet to stay with them until the actual death. No blood, no pain, no stress just gentle.

Sadly one final update she went into total renal failure last night and she's being euthanized this evening. It was very surreal that even after all the vet trips, all the cystitis last night she told us it was time to end it. We found it really odd there was just a shared feeling of "We have to end this now", and after she had her bloods at the vet hospital turns out in the past 48 hours her kidneys have completely failed. She made it to 9 years old, and it 364 days since her sister died. We can't believe the timing.

Please donate. As a recipient of a transfusion when my Crohn's made me severely anaemic, I really appreciate just what a gesture blood donation is. Sadly I can never donate it now due to persistent anaemia and being on immunosuppressents. I do feel quite guilty that I can't!

Cheeky request, and one that I am kicking myself for. Does anyone have any working spare 15" CRT monitors, preferably from circa mid to late 1990s - such as the Philips CM 8833 or Microvite that were a re-badge for the Amiga/Acorn? I have some older pre-PC kit, recent acquisition is a rare Acorn A3010 (pre-ARM250!), but I've had to remove the battery as it was fuzzing. The Arc also has no HDD as no one has the interfaces anymore, this means I can't pre-load the third party LCD tools. Most older games need to run in the old RISC OS Mode 12 or 15, but LCDs cannot accept this output. Easiest solution is a CRT! I'm still on the lookout for any Acorn hardware, especially the 32-bit ARM powered stuff if anyone has it in a loft somewhere. Ta

The mouse has proper melted! The PC is an old Dell Optiplex from 2010. It is stored in a blue aluminum cabinet with doors. These pre-date me and I can't get the staff to stop using them! There in the Primary department of my special school, so the staff like to close the doors to stop the kids playing with the PC. In the past decade of my career I have never, never encountered anything like this at all! The PC has been pulled out, it's too much of a fire risk! What does everyone else for fast charging their phone in the car? The bluetooth is killing my HTC One M7 as my fitness band and the car keep talking to the phone constantly. Just noticed I haven't been on EduGeek for a few months... Anyway the cat is still well with us. She has a stone in her urethra from her good kidney to her bladder. It is moving at the last scan about 7 weeks ago, so we are more hopefully. She's pretty much on anti-biotics for life as the swelling caused by the stone is causing her to have bouts of cystitis. We've been told the stone will either pass, or it will totally block her kidney from emptying into her bladder - which we'd know about from the screaming cat. They don't want to remove the kidney with the stone, as it's the "good" one running at about 30% efficiency, the other is running at about 5% so she'd go into instant renal failure and 95% chance of death in 24 hours. The other surgical option is a stent, but that costs thousands, and however I love the smelly, shaggy old girl it's not worth it. The vets have said if it does block they'd remove the good kidney and see. A 5% chance of not dying is better than a 0% chance. Still she eats food like a starving man, and is very in your face so it can't be that bad at the moment!!

Re: BFC Networks - If I'd have known it was Alex Pearce doing some of this I wouldn't have dismissed BGfL365 as just a Service Birmingham money maker. I used to work for him years ago, and I have a massive amount of time and respect for his work. He gave me my break in IT and helped start me down the path which has served me well for almost a decade now. Anyone else who like me has looked at BGfL365 and just assumed it was a way Link2ICT were shoehorning a solution to keep maintained schools bound to them might want to look again. It is rare of late that I would completely re-evaluate my opinion of something that Link/SB are throwing out to schools, but I am now. I also have boundless respect for Andy Pyper and work he does with eSafety. It's a shame the account managers are not as committed...
